Well done! Very cool drone footage, too. Backyard rinks are an institution in Canada. My son makes a rink in his backyard every winter. My grandsons spend countless hours skating and playing hockey. And we have a family curling tournament (bonspiel) every year. Re-used milk jugs half-filled with coloured water and left outside to freeze serve as curling rocks. The effort (and a rink is a lot of work) isn’t about skating or hockey or curling-it’s about family, as you and your family clearly understand. Thanks for posting this. Cheers, and Happy Spring!

Thank you! It was my first time to make an ice rink, actually turned out pretty well i think. I will definitely try to do it again when it is known that winter is coming decent and cold, but then I have to prepare a little earlier and smooth the base of the rink, it will be easier then. This idea of curling is very good, i like it and i will try it in the future, it would be fun to play with my family. Thank again, and all the best to you!

The best way to make smooth ice is cut off top of barrel. Fill. Tip over and spread LOTS of water fast over the surface.
