Thank you so much for showing the instruction manual! I accidently threw mine out before I should have and I've been searching for a copy! Excellent video!
Glad I was able to help. I figured that would be an important item to film. I have started doing this is some of my videos where it is feasible time wise to do it.
The gentleman in the video is testing the AM portion of this radio at night with this radio, where there is so much skywave. I have one of these radios, but mine is the "Retekess Brand, Model V112", I bought off Ebay for about the same price. Only problem with mine is that it takes forever to charge the battery. Also on AM, as you tune to the higher channels on the AM band, 1500-1700 KHz, the radio doesn't pick up the stations that well. I am a retired owner/general manager of a small town commercial radio station. I owned a stand alone AM Daytime Station for 28 years with my assigned frequency in the upper part of the AM Band with 1,000 Watts, Daytime. Now that I'm retired, I play around with LPAM now using a 100mw, FCC Part 15 Compliant, Chez Procaster Transmitter. The manufacturer of the Chez Procaster recommends using the AM Channels 1610 KHz to 1700 KHz. One of the reasons is because the antenna for the Chez Procaster is only three meters in length. The AM Channels of 1610 to 1700 KHz is known to many as the "X Band". When this radio tunes in to this part of the AM Band, it becomes less sensitive. I have even noticed this at night with the Commercial AM Stations at night in the "X Band", can't get them at all on this little radio, but my Kenwood Car Radio picks up the AM Band's "X Band" Stations at night.
Was working on a friends HRD-103 radio on a battery problem (solve by the way) when I noticed the AM stations stepping 9khz. No online manuals easily obtained. Your video told me what I needed. Thanks
I watched your review and you mentioned a way to change the number of tuning steps from 9 to 10. I immediately knew I needed to do that because I wasn’t getting accurate tuning. The manual I got was in Chinese. I thank you. Nice video.
@todderbert ...I saw your review on Amazon, and like you I bought a Sangean, but I was very tempted by this radio. How could you go wrong for this money? But, I wanted Digital, and PLL Synthesized Tuning, so I bought the Sangean DT-210 FM (Your review was for the DT-200), Still, I will probably pick up one of these, just to satisfy my curiosity, and I'm sure it will come in handy!. I find it strange, how few high quality radios are available in this bracket (C.Crane, Sangean, Eton) as the Monitoring hobby is still alive and well, whether it's AM/FM, Short Wave, Ham or Scanner, many of us are still listening. I see that the Pre-owned market for Radios is still thriving, despite high seller fees and the imposed taxes!
I have purchased one of these under the Retekess brand and I noticed hidden in the display apparently there is an option for shortwave, tv, and "ch" including the small 5 counter. I think it has it on the HRD brand too. Is there some way to access those hidden features or does the firmware not support it? I am hoping for a response.
It has to be physically accessed on the PCB. Normally new circuits have to be added. The Display has built in redundancy in case they choose to add those features.
Hello sir, I would really like to buy this radio but I want some info, What is the meaning by AM sensitivity 3mv/m?! Which one should I buy 3MV/M or 20 MV/M sensitivity radio?!! and can I use this radio in India for receive AM signals all over India radio stations from one perticuler place(location)?!! And I'm from North Karnataka Region.. I'd like to buy this radio only for listen AM stations so, I'm living in India (North Karnataka region) where I tried many Chinese portable radios but these all radios only play one local channel "Dharwad Station-765khz" only! & can't play other stations like bengaluru, gulbarga, bhadravthi and Mumbai, Indore stations?!! I don't know why this happening?!! Especially on day time only one channel I can hear! It is dharwad station?!! So can I play all radio stations in this radio?!! (Mumbai,Bengaluru,Delhi,Chennai etc stations) Please reply... I'm eagerly waiting to buy this radio please please please reply....
Dear Prashant, saw your post just today as I was relooking the video. Todderbert may not be able to answer your question as he is not aware of conditions here. But in general, AM(MEDIUM. WAVE) broadcasts are best heard in the evenings or early mornings. Try after 6.30 or 7.00 pm. You will get a station at every turn of the tuning knob/wheel. Day time propagation of MW is very poor. That is why you will get your local or semi local stations. Hope this will satisfy you.
I only use simple earbuds. Powerful headset radios probably use 2AAs minimum. Look at the Sangean offerings: ruclips.net/video/bTypeL9e4Kg/видео.html , ruclips.net/video/wN-T872dzKs/видео.html , CC Pocket ruclips.net/video/by3tb8J8lrQ/видео.html .
Surprising how the radio can pick up the distant station's there couldn't be much of an antenna in a radio that is so small, makes you wonder why other radios that are much larger can't do at least as well. Doesn't look like you can get from one end of the band to the other very fast when tuning. Enjoyed the video with my coffee this morning hope we will continue to get the late afternoon/early evening videos always enjoy them of course.
There is no built in speaker. But if you had a portable speaker or another radio with an AUX option, and with a AUX cable, you can listen to it through a speaker.

I know this is an older video I found mine In a bin it’s a Red One it’s cool I was wondering if I picked up a plug in male end headphone to male end to speaker . Might work.
Very bizarre, all my other radios work fine. I noticed another review where he had his radio hooked up to his Grundig. When I get one I'll try it on that radio. Doesn't work with my FM Transmitter, or my other Line-In/Aux In Radios.
Probably a micro sized lithium power pack. I couldn't open it to check..the radio would not open even with those two screws removed. The BL-5C is almost as big as this radio...and 18650 is gigantic....
Thank you Victor, but this radio would not work with any of my AUX-In devices. Hoping in the future to find something that works. Will make a companion video when I do.
@@todderbert thanks I did still not working, when I turn the tuning button the screen light up, when I press the power button nothing it doesn't power on, just bought 2 months ago

Just ordered one. Love to listen to AM talk radio late at night when I'm fixing airplanes at work.
I have now retired from my aircraft tech years - 33 years.
Can it really pull weak AM signals?
What is your job? I ordered one
The only gripe I find is the very noisy hiss that it makes always, in the FM. The Prunus DE333 does not make any hiss, which I find really great.

I got the one by retekess coming tomorrow. I assume it's the same radio, but this one seems really promising for how cheap it is.

What happened to the battery
At 6:45 it stopped seeking, because the headphone wire is the FM antenna, so it's "Finding" stations and locking on to them!

Well just don't know what I'm going to do with myself this afternoon.
I would forgive that little radio for any shortcomings, it's awesome for the money 👍 Tam.
A great bargain of a radio for sure.
hows the audio quality? does it support stereo sounds?
Can we operate it in speaker mode rather than headphone?
There is no built in speaker. But if you had a portable speaker or another radio with an AUX option, and with a AUX cable, you can listen to it through a speaker.
Did you not talk about the battery? What kind is it? How long does it last?

I actually got mine to work by pulling the patch cable a little bit out of the aux speaker.
AM is completely dead in germany according to german radio stations, but now you can hear radio stations from far away (india etc.)
Did you discover how to store stations manually?
I'll have to take it back out, but I think you use the Memo key then the M+ and M- keys to choose the location to set the preset.
Hay tod. Wich is better comparing to sangean DT180??
Sangean DT-180 All The Way :)
Thank you for your video, how is the output volume through the earphones, is it loud ?
It's very loud! Mine was at 21 out of the box and it was deafening. Had to turn it down to 8

How to preset radio station?

they do not recommend it.
is this radio sounds both sides of the headphones?
Yes and in Stereo on FM.
@@todderbert on other cheaper mono model does it play both side too but in less quality? (im a radio noob)
I was not aware of a non stereo version. I would assume it would be mono both ears .
Is it the bl 5c rechargeable battery or 18650 cell.
Probably a micro sized lithium power pack. I couldn't open it to check..the radio would not open even with those two screws removed. The BL-5C is almost as big as this radio...and 18650 is gigantic....

¿Other hearing aids can be used?
Unfortunately that is bad radio.
Whenever I make the voice quieter, noise remains.
That's annoying.
Is this the same with Retekess v112?
yes
I HAVE THE SAME RADIO 📻 BUT MINE IS ALL BLACK AND I PAYED $3.00+ SHIPPING I TYPE IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE OF MY BAD EYESIGHT JUST TO LET YOU KNOW
Do you any idea how to reset tecsun pl365 ?
Remove the batteries for a few hours. The internal capacitor needs to drain.

I press memo and M+ and keep getting "NO" Argh.
My am is all messed up rn
If you want an english station put on 909
don't want 29 presets just four or five
you can return the unwanted presets for a cash refund
@@loupasternak thanks, just looking, and saying my needs. haven't bought one.
The slow AGC is what the Eton Mini does on AM.
This doesn't bother me, maybe because I'm not in a hurry.
