@@zion4051 I just was showing my friend deino and other crocs were on their diet. Unless that’s changed in the past few minutes. And bodies offer more food than fish. Not to mention it’s clearly intended by the devs.

I genuinely hate it for some reason when people call deinosuchus a croc. it's not, it's an alligator. crocs usually have stronger bite forces and always a v shaped jaw. I dunno why it irritates the hell outta me but it does.

My biggest complaint about the behaviour of cannibals in The Isle is that they aren’t doing it out of necessity. They aren’t acting like the animals they’re supposed to be. Yes, a deinosuchus can and will eat other deinosuchus. That said, if food is plentiful then crocodilians don’t have any real need to get overly aggressive with each other when a fight could easily cripple or kill them. Sure, they’ll snap up a baby or one that’s so small it couldn’t put up a good fight, but that’s also a matter of convenience. They may not be friendly with each other and in the wild they don’t eat together, but they aren’t just mindless cannibals or murder machines. They kill and eat to satisfy needs and prefer the easiest opportunities. Of course if the devs wanted TRUE realism then a deino could subsist off of a single hadrosaur for quite a long time and wouldn’t be starving half the time.
I think you know this by now because I'm 12 days late, but with ptera, hold z and rmb to latch onto surfaces like rocks and trees! It's kinda glitchy tho and you don't get stam but it's pretty cool

With Utah and Ptera im very trusting as both get a debuff for eating their kind and you get no diet what so ever if you do eat your kind, plus ive just never run into a cannibal as those. Carno and Deino im less trusting as but when I am in a group we expand alot and often get many many players, ive had groups of 7-8 carnos last for a few hours before people logged.
Idk why but i mostly had good experiences playing deino. Mine is fully grown since 8 hours or so I'm unsure. Yesterday i played 4 hours and never had a bad encounter
I never play as Deino anymore. The 8rhs of growth isn't worth getting gang-banged by a whole group of fully-grown's. It always happens even though the elite fish spawn decently fast.

Cannibalism is part of nature. It's on the devs to de-incentivize it if they don't want players to do it. Players are just playing in a way that feels rewarding to them. For better or worse, it's fairly realistic for deinos to be cannibalize others up to sub-adult level. Around 12% of gators in a study at Orange Lake, FL were found to have tags in their stomach from cannibalism, tho not enough research has been done to consider that definitive. All that said, I do think it harms gameplay in many cases and SHOULD have greater consequences if it's not explicitly part of your diet.
