I feel like a lot of us adult collectors have traumatic toy loss stories! I was more of a Barbie fan growing up, also had one precious American Girl and some baby dolls. Sadly a lot of my toys were lost when they were put into storage and my mom couldn’t pay on the unit and they went to auction. I so agree that giving my adult self some of the toys I lost (and ones I so wanted but never got) is so therapeutic!
Hi Tori. I pray that all is well by you during this hurricane! I know how scary it can be. I had to evacuate with my family back in 1986. We all had to go to a hotel for two days. I remember how stressful that was. I pray everything is ok and you can go home with nothing having happened. I love this doll! I like the name Autumn. It’s my favorite season too! She is a beautiful doll. I’m so sorry that your dolls were discarded. That was a terrible thing to do. You were a sweet young girl who deserved so much love and happiness from everyone. You have grown into a lovely young lady and are now a wonderful wife and mother! With that being said now you can do whatever it is that makes you happy with your doll collecting! All I can say is were we raised in the same household? My dad too threw all my dolls away, took them to the dumps. I was 12 and came home from school one day and all my dolls, doll clothes, accessories etc were gone. He decided that I was too old to play with dolls.The only doll I had left was a doll that my mom had bought for my 6th birthday (which I still have 68 years later) and for some reason he left that one behind.I was heartbroken. My obsession with dolls has not ended. Thank you so much for sharing

I have very different reasons for my doll obsession & how I got into reborns but completely relate to going back and finding lost childhood toys & connecting to childhood items that brought me happier childhood memories. I found that when healing from childhood trauma, one of the greatest ways to heal is by reconnecting with your inner child & finding those tangible items from that time, that brought you the most joy! For me it was anything CPK related and a few much loved stuffed animals that were all lost in a move. Finding these things again, was so therapeutic and empowering! 🩷
My dolls were sold at my moms garage sales when I was a teenager. I even was coaxed to sell my “little miss no name” doll.I have since repurchased 2 of the Little Miss No Name dolls. I paid top dollar for them but I have them now. I have about 13 AD dolls I have picked up on eBay. The older dolls from the 90’s and early 2000 are made to look more realistic and so precious.They are a lot heavier. It seems to me they are less Dolly looking. I’m 63 and I can enjoy my dolls now. They are mostly displayed in their bassinets to protect them from my cats and such. Dolls are so much fun to collect. Find the ones that speak to your heart and you’ll love them forever.❤

I have a childhood story just like yours. One day when we moved my daddy threw away all of my dolls not looking to see what he was throwing away and that upset me slot I was so mad at him! But I am an adult now and I enjoy my two reborn baby boys alot one is a full silicone and the other one is full body vinyl. I love watching your videos you have taught me a lot about reborn dolls It is such a happy place!

I really enjoy watching your videos especially your outing. How does your husband feel about you buying these dolls and taking them out, my husband thinks l am crazy l don’t need them all, but l spoke to him about and told him they are very therapeutic for me they make me happy l love to buy them new outfits, pacifiers, bows and hair clips that’s what makes me happy l am not doing anything wrong. I collected some baby dolls & a ton of Barbie stuff! I had a huge collection! But bad stuff happened, we bcame homeless in 2012 bcause of a Fraud Home Loan & Illegal Foreclosure. Had stuff put in storage & my Mom couldn't keep paying or find someone to help. Whenever bad stuff happened, we couldn't find much help. Still can't now. I'm trying to start a new Barbie collection, but not as many dolls. I want to eventually build a diorama. I started collecting Reborns in 2016. I was diagnosed w/ PTSD in 2014 bcause of the bad stuff. I do luv my collection, though sometimes I wish it was a different hobby or that my collection wouldn't be as much. But my Mom & I believe that this is God's plan right now. And everything happens for a reason! 🙏
I love her. She does look perfect. Her Artist did a phenomenal job. When I was a teenager my Mom convinced me to give my Barbies away. They were some of the first Barbie’s made. Yes, showing my age. I have regretted it ever since. I don’t collect and play with them anymore but I do have a Lucy and Rosie still in the box. Lucy reminds me of my Mom she was funny and looked like her. I have all kinds of dolls but my fav right now are the Rainbow High Dolls. They are so colorful and cute. They remind me to smile everyday. Thanks for sharing your story with us.
Great video. I think Olive or Autumn are good names for your baby. I have also heard of people using the name Harvest for babies born during the fall season. Oddly enough, I had dolls as a child, but I was more interested in playing school with my siblings and things like that. I got into dolls during my teenage years. I don’t have any reborn babies, but I do have some realistic factory-created dolls, like Ashton-Drake and Berenguer. I have the tiny Celebration of life Emmy. My mom got her for me.
I have had so much stolen from me by a sibling and her friends, and thrown away by abusive boyfriends and an ex husband. Now I am hunting for childhood treasures to buy them back. I understand. 😢
Fawn, Juniper or Aspen, but out of the names you picked, Olive. For me, my childhood was everything that a childhood should be, if you removed the fact that my dad passed away, and I am forever grateful for having that great start to life. However, the trauma came during adolescence and young adulthood. I guess in a sense of way, the reborn world allows me to revert back to an age where I felt safe and happy. My partner is the polar opposite. He had a very traumatic childhood, and now he has dedicated his life to claiming the childhood and adolescence he should have had. He now has all the things that he once had but were sold by his abusive father for drug use. So for him that is CD's, and equipment and such things. I think the reborn hobby is a healthy way to manage trauma, after all, they are pieces of art and anything creative like that allows for appropriate emotional expression.
I hate the short limbs. I changed my baby Joseph’s limbs out because I hated them. They were too short and did not look right. I so agree with the proportions being wrong a lot
