I played this with a controller, and at the start I remapped "sprint" to the B button because it was more convenient than pressing in the stick. Cue the Mollie chase sequence when I had to go crab-hands in order to hold down the B button AND turn the right stick.
The catch is that your forward and backward walking/sprinting speed are the same in this game. So it's a little safer in Indigo Park for you to walk backwards.

Though, the level of bloodlust seems unusual, could be hunger though consider molly rips your throat out when she catches you. And Lloyds claws are all bloody, possibly from hunting other animals. There is also a chance there are many many many mascots of each of them outside of maybe Finley. Which is why it warns you when you get caught by her to not fall for sounds that seem similar to certain things. As she could be mimicing them. Lloyd and Finley though seem like one of a kind Mascots.
