But still, the fact that it was even close against a team that basically played an ACC schedule is evidence that the SEC isn't that much better than everyone else.

Two seasons in a row, the SEC puts One team into the Semi-Final and ZERO teams into the Final, much less winning the championship.
And this year, the 2nd of their top 3 teams was clearly beaten and the 3rd of their top 3 teams was blown out.
Yes, the SEC is still a GREAT football conference, but the I think that now the Big Ten, Big 12, ACC, and Notre Dame can now respect them without bowing down to them since they are no longer the SEC from the 2006 - 2022 era.
From now on, 3 loss SEC teams ( I'm talking to you Alabama and South Carolina fans ) can pipe down about getting into the CFP over 2 loss teams from the other conferences.

Hypothetically the ENTIRE SEC conference wins a championship every year. Just ask them, they'll tell you. As far as bowls it's always coulda, woulda, shoulda, oh and we didn't care about that bowl game or the classic... "We just didn't show up". 😂.
As far as the B1G, I'm a big life long fan, they have their ups and downs too. And there have always, in my memory, only been 2 teams with big coattails that everyone else rides on. So don't get too proud. It was a great year for us. But don't get too proud... Seems to always come before a fall.

This will be the first real national champion. Until 1998 The National Champ was just chosen not earned. It was all based on opinion. Then it was still just who they felt where the top two teams.
When they added two more teams it was better but still too much opinion.
Although I think the best would be to increase to 16 teams. The winner of each conference automatically get in. Then the remaining top 6 teams.

To me it just seems like everyone is hugely overreacting to this stuff - being a prisoner of the moment. Step back and realize this whole "SEC is done" narrative is based on a few games in a single season. I'm not even saying the narrative is FALSE, I'm just saying let's see what happens next season and the season after before we make such huge declarations.
The reason I suspect it may be a bit of a blip/mirage is this. What does it take to be successful in college football? Essentially it's just good recruiting and good coaching. SEC is really good at both of those. The portal throws a bit of a wrench into the classic formula but seems like the SEC is getting plenty of guys via the portal so I don't think they're failing there. Eventually once teams adjust then you can just lump the whole portal thing in with "recruiting". But anyway, if you recruit super well and have solid coaching, you will get results in college football, plain and simple. You might have some ebbs and flows but the results will come. That's why I say let's wait and see on the "SEC is overrated trash" narrative.. when you look at the argument objectively and not emotionally as most people have been doing.. I'm not sure it holds water long-term. We'll see though.
