      We had some technical difficulties with Craig's camera and we were in a time crunch, so for the opening Craig was shot with an iphone. Luckily Tona fixed the problem and his shot looks better in the discussion (I get the feeling I'll be explaining this a lot)

      On the other hand, it's an interesting artifact of the times. Could a male director be so clueless today, and the actresses be so powerless/uninterested that the script didn't change? I hope not.

    Craig, referring to your stance on Elliot Gould, I was never that big of a fan of him either. However, I did enjoy him in a little remembered gem called The Silent Partner (1978) - not the typical Gould performance. Have you seen it? - if not you should because its one of those great Hitchcock films that Hitchcock never made. Its cat-and-mouse thriller between Gould, who plays a meek banker, and Christopher Plummer, who plays a complete psychopathic robber. There's a scene with Plummer just looking through a mail slot in a door that is absolutely chilling - all you see are his eyes, nothing happens but the mere hint of violence in those eyes are more frightening than any gory horror scene.

    I can't help but think this movie might be a critique of the Free Love movement in the 60s. Even the characters who are on board with the whole idea aren't truly into it and the ending seems to be saying something along the lines of "there's more to people than just sex". That's my two cents. Great review as always. I'm tempted to make an entire movie just so i could get you guys to cameo in it.

    Heard it? Though I'm a prog-rock super-fan (ie. Rush, Dream Theater) take another listen to Michael Jackson's "Off the Wall". Considering all the instruments are actually played (not computerized) gives more eyebrow-raising approval. Produced by Quincy Jones and arguably better than both The Doobie Brother's "Best of the Doobies" 1976, and Jethro Tull's "Songs from the Wood [Remaster]" in instrument-piece isolation.
    I wanted to add that "Norwegian Wood" was actually about Lenon burning down an apartment of a girl in revenge because she wouldn't sleep with him that night, the "wood" is her furniture. He wrote it because he wanted to sort-of explain he cheated on his first wife at-the-time, Cynthia "without actually telling her". This actually happened.

    • @Ghorum
      @Ghorum 8 лет назад

      Even in the 60's people had to look at the graduate and yell at the screen. You can't write a character to make deliberately bad decisions for most of the movie.
