- The Western Atlantic and Eastern Pacific are a hub of activity at the moment, although no storms have formed yet. An area of interest that prompted a flash flood emergency in south Florida yesterday is now pulling away from the coast and out over the Atlantic Ocean. There is still a small chance of formation as it drifts towards the outer banks and Bermuda.
Two areas of interest in the Eastern Pacific and southern Caribbean are expected to compete for eventual development in the Bay of Campeche next week, with the resulting storm a potential threat to the coast of Veracruz. During this period, very high amounts of rain are expected to fall over parts of Central America, with totals in El Salvador projected to reach a whopping 1200mm.
Next week, some computer models are showing further developments in the Atlantic, including a powerful Gulf of Mexico hurricane.

The sheer amount of rain from 90L showcases how the category is not the most significant factor, but the potential flooding is. I'm in south Florida, and this has caused more issues than an even category one hurricane.
Very good point there. Category isn't the only thing that involves tropical cyclones, rainfall can sometimes be really significant.
I didn’t see any tropical hurricanes near me today. They just form near South America and Cape Verde. But i don’t know how to start with.
Ok, that GFS silly range was very silly. A June major hurricane in the Gulf? When was the last time there was even a June major? Audrey from 1957? Man...
crazy Atlantic activity on GFS
ik
oh crap a potential storm in new orleans
