- In November 2012 Matteo Della Bordella and David Bacci free climbed the route "Free Rider" (1000m 5.12d/7c) on El Capitan, Yosemite.
The video is filmed and directed by Pietro Bagnara.
Original music by Simone Morandotti
Thanks to Ragni di Lecco and Adidas Outdoor for the support.
Still can't believe that Honnold free soloed that route.
Super !! Ragni di lecco orgoglio Italiano
waow,.... big swing,....
Awesome video, could have gone without the 80s guitar butt-rock though. LOL!!
Should have showed more Monster Offwidth footage :(
That's some good climbing and some horrendous music.
isn't free climbing when you don't have any ropes?
That is free solo, free climbing is not using ropes as help other than for safety I believe.
FREE CLIMBING: Not using ropes or any other means of assistance other than your own body. If you fall, the rope catches you.
FREE SOLOING: Climbing without any form of safety protection. You fall, you’re dead.
AID CLIMBING: Using means of assistance to get you higher up the rock without actually grabbing onto the rock to move up. You pull on rope and other gear to ascend.
BOULDERING: Same as free soloing but on low height boulders (10-20 ft typically). When you fall, you land on crash pads. Sometimes bouldering goes 30’ and higher, which is called high balling. The line between this and free soloing is sometimes blurred.
