  • This portion, called “Bemidbar,” or “The Wilderness,” is the beginning of the book of Numbers. The reason it is called “Numbers” in our English Bibles is that a census is taken of all the men of war to protect and defend the children of Israel. The Levites were exempt from this census as they were the “LORD’s portion.” They replace the firstborn, whose number they approximated, since they were disqualified when they participated in the worshipping of the Golden Calf. The 273 firstborn who lacked a Levite to replace them had to pay a five-shekel “ransom” to redeem themselves. This census not only filled out the ranks of a standing army for Israel, but it also organized the camp with its levels of leadership. Given their numbers, this was essential to maintain order and cooperation in the camp. The total of the census reached 603,550 men who could go to war. Based on this number, we can demographically project that the entire camp had over 3,000,000 souls.

    the naked eye doesn't see 600 thousand stars at night though it seems reasonable to think that. It is really only 3 thousand unless you could see the whole sky at once and then it would be 6 thousand. When Yah told him that, he was pretty old and so I wonder how much he did see. Any simple pair of binoculars would help you see loads more, even up to millions so it makes me think did Yah increase Abraham's sight that night to take it all in? Or is it just the feeling of the story, not specifics? The feeling we all have under the dark sky that there are millions of stars and counting each one is beyond comprehension and that was the point Abba was making? None of these are questions that need answers I am just commenting thoughts for the algorithm!

      Clearly you have come here not to grow but to stir up strife.
      What Monte tried to explain is that when you look at the stars is that you are looking at a collage of roughly 600000 stars and heavenly bodies.
      Nobody is able to count that with the naked eye or binoculars but that is not the point.
      Astronomers have come to that summary to help people understand the magnitude of what they are LOOKING AT.

  • @Old-Path
    @Old-Path 3 месяца назад

    Is Monte saying that everyone is counted and going to be apart of the kingdom?
    Or just that its not up to us to determine who is and who isnt counted?
    I would guess the latter, though that's not really Monte's wording. Just want to know what everyone else thinks.

    • @hurryslow1
      @hurryslow1 3 месяца назад

      I don’t understand how you could miss that point. Monte really laboured the point that each human being - each of us HAS VALUE to the Creator.
      Whether or not we are counted as part of Israel or whether we are counted as part of the ungodly, is the decision that each of us make. But regardless of where we end up, we never lose our VALUE to the Creator Who made each of us.
      Return to the 28:00 minute and listen again.
      If you are ever unsure about what a message says, listen to it again. Stop and ponder what is said if needs be. Listen to it as many times as is necessary to grasp what is said.
      You can also reduce the playback speed.
      At 37:00 Monte emphasises that is is VERY important as to WHERE you are counted, and that you really should do everything in your power to be counted in the covenant and not outside of it.
      Of all teachers I have listened to in my lifetime, Monte is definitely THE teacher who makes everything simple to understand.
      He never presents controversial teachings or dogmas.

      @@hurryslow1 If we have value, no matter where we are counted, why does it matter to be counted as in the covenant or out of it?
      Isn't the Zadok calendar controversial?

      @@LarryLarpwell The Torah is eternal:
      Matthew 5:17-19 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to complete. For truly, I say to you, till the heaven and the earth pass away, one yod or one tittle shall by no means pass from the Torah till all be done. Whoever, then, breaks one of the least of these commands, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the reign of the heavens; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the reign of the heavens."
      Isaiah 42:21 - It has delighted יהוה, for the sake of His righteousness, to make the Torah great and glorious.
      Psalms 19:7 - The Torah of יהוה is perfect, bringing back the being; The witness of יהוה is trustworthy, making wise the simple;
      Psalms 119:44 - That I might guard Your Torah continually, Forever and ever;
      Romans 2:13 - For not the hearers of the Torah are righteous in the sight of God, but the doers of the Torah shall be declared right.
      Romans 3:20 - Therefore by works of Torah no flesh shall be declared right before Him, for by the Torah is the knowledge of sin.
      Romans 3:31 - Do we then nullify the Torah through the belief? Let it not be! On the contrary, we establish the Torah.
      Romans 7:7 - What, then, shall we say? Is the Torah sin? Let it not be! However, I did not know sin except through the Torah. For also the covetousness I knew not if the Torah had not said, “You shall not covet.”
      Romans 7:12 - So that the Torah truly is set-apart, and the command set-apart, and righteous, and good.
      Romans 7:22 - For I delight in the Torah of God according to the inward man,
      James 1:25 - But he that looked into the perfect Torah, that of freedom, and continues in it, not becoming a hearer that forgets, but a doer of work, this one shall be blessed in his doing of the Torah.
      ---------------------------
      The Torah Is For All:
      Exodus 12:49 - “There is one Torah for the native-born and for the stranger who sojourns among you.”
      Leviticus 24:22 - ‘You are to have one right-ruling, for the stranger and for the native, for I am יהוה your God.’
      Numbers 15:15 - One law is for you of the assembly and for the stranger who sojourns with you - a law forever throughout your generations. As you are, so is the stranger before יהוה.
      Numbers 15:16 - One Torah and one right-ruling is for you and for the stranger who sojourns with you.
      Numbers 15:29 - For him who does whatever by mistake there is one Torah, both for him who is native among the children of Yisra’ĕl and for the stranger who sojourns in their midst.
