The Tories are finished and if we get proportional representation they will never see power again
If we get PR what will we do about Islamism in the UK.

Get on with it, stop prolonging the agony, let's put an end to this 13-year toxic Tory nightmare we've all had to endure.
Hold it now while he is riding on the crest of a slump.
Bye, bye Rishi
Can’t wait!
Rishi should call an election to strengthen his mandate from the British people. Then he can do what he likes...which is leave the UK and live in California as a tech bro. The new face of AOL.
Yes, replacing the Tories with another collection of Tories (with a different name) is such a good idea.
He has no mandate !
@@Noel-ji8nmif you genuinely think that Labour are another collection of Tories you have no understanding of politics. It’s quite possible to be socially and economically progressive without adopting the economic policy of soviet era Eastern Europe.
@@pipoo1 Who said anything about adopting soviet economic policies, lol.
@@Noel-ji8nmwhy are they like the tories then?
His father in law will decide for him.
Great discussion excellent panelist’s keep it up!
There are a number of strange and incredible things about the US political system. But one thing they did right was to not let politicians decide when to hold the elections.
except they do, because governors get to call special elections to vacant house seats, and they can be quite flexible with the timing to help or hinder one party or the other
@@lucabadin It's clear he was talking about general elections.
We had about 20 years where they couldn't, I think. Blair put it in as I recall. One of the few things he did completely right.
Then one of the Tory govts abolished that law and put us back a bit. I definitely want it back. Your times up, convince us we should renew.
In the UK, parliamentary terms are fixed to 5 years. They can just call it quits early. I would argue that longer parliamentary terms are usually better for governing because politicians have time to get on with the job without being in constant campaign mode.
Obviously, the downside is when you have a bunch of utter beneath contempt incompetent charlatans in charge of the country as we do now with the current UK government.
@@jezlawrence720it waa Cameron who made the fixed term parliament act
He’s about as good as a chocolate teapot.
The sooner the better…get rid of rishi…&the rest of the wastes of space tories
It is interesting that these panellists think that what really matters is presentation, timing and catchy soundbites, not substance. They probably know their business, which is a bit of an inditement on the voting public.
It is what matters, or we wouldn't have Brexit and a series of kleptocrats in No.10,=.
Why he wont: cowardice
Question is: when is the best time for InfoSys and his family's other businesses?
January 2025
Sunak is hoping that he can hang on that long as leader of the Cons
I will vote for a party that introduces a windfall tax on energy companies and supermarkets
So, you're advocating that a company which sets up business and abides by all the laws of the country in which it is trading, including paying its just and lawful tax liabilities should be institutionally robbed by the state?
''Stand and deliver'' the profits of your corporation.
Good thinking there Einstein.
How many businesses do you figure would remain trading in such a country?
@@Berlitz81 Windfall taxes are not robbing by the state. Taxes in general in our advanced economies can never be described as theft. The interconnectedness and vast supply chains within nation states and internationally essentially mean that taxes are collated from all of society's productivity and distributed as almost social dividends in the form of public services and such. We don't live in some Robinson Crusoe pictureseque pie in the sky world - taxes are the cost of civil society and stability. Price gouging and the predatory activities of energy companies and supermarkets especially during COVID-19 and the onset of the Russian-Ukrainian war most certainly encompass entities that should be taxed above and beyond current numbers. They have unduly profited from national plights and are effectively hoarding wealth from broader society.
You have not held back on the production values, maybe you could add the final touch and use the number 10 font - found this on your website:
Sir, Regarding the letter from Frank Foster (May 14), I believe that the numbers on the door of No 10 Downing Street are, in fact, correct. The font used for the numbering is a form of the “Kindersley” font in which the zero (and “o”) are canted to the left, as Dr Foster notes.17 May 2010
It will be Jan and they’ll be hoping for an abysmally low turnout
We dont want any of the three major parties, especially if Bliar and Mandleson are pulling beers strings. Were just sick of the lying and greed from all politicians
Tell me you're a Tory without telling me.
I'm sick of lying and greed from Tory politicans .
Go on Kier are you ready?😊
Makes no difference when. He's toast..🍞
I do agree that holding on is worse, but I guess another years wages and benefits.
Re , calling for ceasefire would put the uk directly at odds with Israel, the consequences would be to exclude us from assisting with humanitarian efforts and any negotiations on brokering a peaceful solution when the time comes?
Remain were right? That woman must be high!
I emigrated from UK from Eastern Europe. For me the Conservative Party was the party of Thatcher and I imagined I will vote for it when I became a citizen. I am a citizen now and I cannot vote conservative cos it is no longer the party of Thatcher, it is the party of Johnson and Sunak, people who talk a lot and do nothing.
This is just rich people wanting other rich people to run the country. Can we have some working class voices... sick of people like this and I come from a middle class background. I'd like to see more people who don't have a voice talking in the media.
Mandy is completely correct...for once?! If the tories dont go - we must force them OUT?!
May 2023 would be the best time, I think. :P
Why would he call it sooner? That would be giving the majority of UK voters what they want.
Something that no Tory, least of all Sunak, cares about.
I don't agree with May or October of next year. I believe February or March of next year! Is much more than likely!
Fed up with the high tax Tories, but... Labour, really!
the more they leave it the more damage occurs to the tories they have tried switching leaders didnt work.
Go on rishi go for it now!
This Man should not be there in government
We did not have the same immigration policy as Latvia .
Not before September 2024.
Whether or not the Labour party calls for a humanitarian pause or a ceasefire is not going to affect the situation on the ground. What a ridiculous argument.
Israel dont care what anyone in the UK thinks.
Mandy…
Theres a huge difference between proportional response and what Israel is doing
So what should it be? Pack up and go home after an equivalent no of Palestinian casualties? The first duty of a state is the protection of its citizens this is why Israel is going for an overwhelming response ..
No there isnt Israel is a small country 1400 deaths is a huge number proportionately. They have to do something drastic they have tried living with Hamas for years and it never changes.
It does not matter to the Conservatives when they hold it.
After he does the free trade deal with India. The one which won't be scrutinized by parliament.
I didn't vote at all in 2017 or 2019. I did vote in 2010 and 2015 (I didn't know what I was doing in all honesty. Mr Cameron was the air to Blair and all that and I fell for it). Starmer doesn't speak to me, and doesn't really stand out for me, but I'll admit, he's improving slightly in terms of his quality of presentation. My vote will be for Labour if I vote at all, and I may yet decide to not vote. However I do want BLUE out, and out ASAP.
I just cannot vote UKIPTory or Labour (with Starmer at the helm). They're both up to their necks with Israeli government influence.
The definition of a floating voter !
@pavloarmand4070 so ,you're happy for five more years of the Conservatives then ?
Even if you're not a Starmer true believer, look at the quality of the Cabinet. The Conservatives are scraping the bottom of the barrel and there's nobody left to take key positions. They even had to get Cameron out of retirement!
Meanwhile Labour's front bench is stacked high with excellent talent who will run rings around the Conservative secretaries of state.
Far from it , never voted Tory.
Vote reform
That’s what they always say, and it ends up in disaster for the tories… later is better
Dead Government Walking
throw out the far right and call an election because its patriotic and best for the nation, its also there only way back
I would expect it to be May because it would allow Rishi's kids to enjoy the summer before starting the new school year in California. Doesn't matter really as Starmer is more fishy than Rishi !!
....and equally unpalatable. Salt and vinegar.
It matters an awful lot to the millions suffering under this grotesque government.
They are all corrupt.
No way they will wait to the last possible moment because things will not get better. If Labour inherit this mess they will live to regret it.
Vote reform.
Tories are done👍🏻
Please as soon as possible, please god
Peter Mandelson is obviously a voice we should all hear, but its clear that his hayday was 20-30 years ago. His understanding of politics is greatly outdated, and his interpretation of past events conflicts with serious research done over the last many years.
heyday, but thanks for playing.
Who says the Tories want to win?
THE ELECTION SHOULD HAVE BEEN HELD WHEN BORIS WAS DUMPED
Rishi Sunak will be calling a general election by the end of this month - November - for February or March of next year.
That's wishful thinking. It was only last month Mr Sunak said the country doesn't want an election. He knows, he's been out asking people, allegedly.
What makes you think that? You sound sure lol
@@LoneSheWolf09 I am certain of this. I very carefully scrutinise everything by observation. It's now inevitable that it will occur. I dismiss May or October of next year. Because what has happened is a total dislocation inside the Conservatives themselves. And people's patience is wearing extremely thin ! Scandal after scandal has followed in sequential order. This current Government is woefully unworkable. So a general election in February or March of next year is much more likely. Especially if the general public say that enough is enough and set in motion - a petition calling for that general election! That is not unlikely but VERY likely indeed!
Rushi Sunak is greatly underestimated.
Well he is certainly undersized.

Corbyn to lead the government or the mayor for London.
Khan needs to be removed from the labour party. He is a disgrace.
Corbyn is toxic, the tories will want his profile to be high to damage Labour !
NOW. Re-Join the EU by 24.
The people are ready to move on to a new chapter says Mandelson. Onwards to managed decline but slower under Labour
Rishi is a classic example of its not WHAT you know ! But seriously I cant see how the tories can win a 2024 election and sadly I dont want to see Labour in either so we live in a very sad time with a set of very sad politicians on both sides...My view is that May 24 is too soon for them to make any 'turn-around' activity stick, I am favouring Oct 24 frankly to give them time to romance the public a bit more....
Interesting take I saw was that he'd choose Oct 31st in order to have as few parents turn out against him as possible because they'll be having to take the kids out trick or treating instead.
Sunak couldn't stabilise a caltrop.
What is appealing about another potential 5 years of Conservatives? It's not like Starmer is going to be all that radical anyway in a first term of office. He's very much a tory light candidate, probably more so than Blair ever was. And why should poorer people have to put up with yet more destruction of the public services they rely on, and disabled people? I'm just curious how the current government can be desired to continue. Frankly, they should have had an election the minute that Johnsons successor was chosen and that successor should have gone to the country with Johnson leaving officially at that elections conclusion.
Hate Tories but not voting Labour after there stance on the Gaza Massacre . Thanks Kier I was full of hope no more ,sorry ,
