Wait! What??? People criticize you for depriving your children???? Are you kidding me? You have been giving them what matters most! Dawn, you have changed my life! Thanks for putting yourself out there.
You can't listen to those folks. I just found your channel a couple weeks ago and I have been watching A LOT! Wish I had found it years ago. So much stuff...but less each day. You go girl(s).
Giving your children stuff can NEVER replace spending time with them and showing them love! And it's so true , the less stuff to care for the more time you will have to care for the people in your life that really matter!!
Oh, and another plus that is not often mentioned: I no longer suffer from jealousy. Where I often used to think I wanted to have and do what others had (latest fashion, nice car, home decoration), I am now more focused on my family and so very grateful for what we have.
This explains why I have adamantly been picking up my bible and reading the gospel since I started decluttering a month ago. As my wordly possessions go, I need to fill that void with Jesus.
Having way too much stuff can be considered a form of gluttony. It’s ironic how much a minimal lifestyle can enlighten you spiritually. Thanks for sharing!🙏
I love the way you put this! I used minimalism/cleaning my home as a serious part of recovering from a 4 year long chronic illness (where I physically could not take care of my home). Honestly, I think it helped me get my physical stamina back and it really helped me get my mental health back where it needed to be! Who would have thought cleaning/decluttering would be so healing, but it is!! ❤️❤️❤️ As always, love your Sunday specials!
This is what I am going through right now. I used to have an impeccably kept home. Now, my home is a disaster and I have clutter everywhere! I have a chronic illness that causes chronic pain. I do not want my family to live in this “mess” anymore but it feels so daunting to tackle.
That is exactly what’s happening with me now too Miche Butterfly77. I found these videos a couple of days ago. I find them motivating without feeling pushed. I wish you well in this 😊
S. Shellina Trujillo good luck to you too mama! Hopefully I will c u in the comments again and we can check on each other:) Sending Positive Vibes from South Florida 💕💋
I stumbled across Dawns videos about 3 weeks ago and was intriqued enough to give it a try. So far I've dcluttered my entire kitchen and donated 4 bags of stuff and trashed several bags too. I'm committed!!! Can't wait to continue learning, doing, and changing my life!
I wish I would have kept a records of how many bags I took to donate. Be prepared to get excited when you take another bag out of your home. Best to you!
Thank you for this video! Thinking of the people burning their stuff to ensure they had no false gods will help me to feel no guilt when throwing away stuff we don't need. Also, thank you for posting these Sunday videos! They fill my heart on the days that I can't get to church (sick kids, no sleep, etc.) Your videos have changed my life and home in an amazing way!❤
So true Sharon!! I stayed home from church today with a sick kiddo! This is super inspiring and I love the spiritual correlation. It is invigorating and puts things in perspective. Making room for what matters most...I love it!
You definitely look less stressed and happier, so it does inspire me (still in the early stage of minimalism...where family laughs when I say what I am trying to do....lol...because they KNOW this maximalist). I am so tired of taking care of stuff!! I want to live!!
Keep it up Beth. My family laugh (kindly) at me when I say that I am a minimalist. They can't see the evidence yet. But I have started. I am using some decision making skills from Learn, Do, Become. April has adapted principles from Get Things Done by David Allen.
By far you are my favorite channel. I couldn’t figure out why I was so unhappy. I have a beautiful home and a healthy family but I couldn’t manage all the stuff in my house. I’ve been doing this lifestyle for a little over a year and you guys are definitely my inspiration. It’s a work in progress but every time you clean out a drawer, donate a box, or throw out something it’s a wonderful feeling. The biggest bonus is more money in your checking account from not buying stuff. Love you guys 🥰
I think you have hit on the key to successful minimalism. When we realize it is not an end in itself, but a means to an end... Making room in our lives for what matters most.
(sigh) ladies that hit my heart. I've been wanting the minimalist mindset daily. We're currently in a rental house. 85% of our stuff is in there garage. Guess what, no one seems to miss to much either! 😁 so our next move is to have a smaller home with more land. Thank you for sharing your faith sweet sisters. You're prayer blessed me. Keep doing these types of videos they are so good and encouraging!
I got tired of tripping over "stuff". Stuff from our house (we downsized to a one bedroom apartment), stuff from my mother's house (she passed a year and a half ago). With that said, I made a list of every cabinet, every drawer, every shelf, etc... I took before pictures and now I'm decluttering, organizing, and cleaning all at once. One little bit at a time and it feels so good! Thanks for your inspiration!
I’m passionate about mindset and how decluttering our minds is so important, and I live how you share about how eliminating that stuff is an eternal purpose! When we declutter our house it helps declutter our minds. I’m on a path toward simplicity of life and stuff. Thank you for your inspiration!
Ohhhh you girls... you bring so much peace and perspective to my day. "There are contributions, gifts and talents that only we can contribute to this world..." So beautiful and true. Almost every time Diana prays I find myself in tears. Diana, YOU have such a gift for what you do! Dawn, your videos always inspire me to keep on letting go of those things getting in the way of the eternal. Blessings to both of you!
Wow. I'm 67 single empty nester. I'm 2 weekß in. But I've never felt so unburdened. It was 3 generations of things. And the papers and clothes were always overwhelming. Thank you so much for your videos. It's not perfect but it's really good. I'm so excited and enjoying every day so much more. God bless you
Hi Dawn, I've always lived a simplified life and experience all the great benefits daily like you've mentioned. I just don't know how to explain things quite the way you do. I'm practically a single mom to 5 boys ages 11-4 but I can tackle on challenges that come in daily with my kids/family all while staying on top of my household due to having a simplified life. The first video I watched was your house tour with Tom, I found myself drawn to your contagious smile. Since subscribing (2weeks ago), I've already improved in areas of my life that I needed a little help with. 1. I've Incorporated the "10minutes together" time with each of my kids at night (feels amazing bc 10 minutes is so doable) 2. I've started doing the "15minute walk" at home 3. I made the diy canvas with mod posh from dollartree with pictures of my children and made a family collage with it 4. I went out to Goodwill and bought myself a Bundt cake pan and a cake stand (since you've raved about Bundt cakes often) ... although I haven't quite perfect mines yet..but I plan on making homemade cakes from now on 5.I plan to get some toys you have recommended in the past videos for my kids 6. I plan to incorporate the craft desk like yours for my kids in the near future. THANK YOU SO much for all the efforts you take into making your videos. Just in the span of two weeks of subscribing, I've already made improvements in my life with my kids. Love from Southern California 💙
Aisha Cham Wow, Aisha! What a way to take action! SO impressive! YOU made me realize that I often THINK I am doing more than I actually am IMPLEMENTING in areas I want to effect change. I see now that I learn and plan FAR more than I actually DO what I plan to do... !!! Thank you for sharing your comment. You must be an amazing mom... person. Thank you so much for stripping away a bit of deception away from me... as I now see I often have “faith without TRUE action”. You really helped me experience a pivotal lightbulb moment, as faith without action IS dead. -AGAIN.. thank you. -Oh, and never again think you do not explain things well! 👏🏼
I've totally seen difference in you Dawn and it's beautiful. You inspire me in so many ways, and it's so fun to see you inspiring thousands and thousands of people around the world now. Just incredible!!! Keep crushing it!!
The funniest thing that I have found since I started minimizing my life is people don't know what to buy me for special occasions. I end up getting a lot of gift cards now which is great for me, I just go out and buy what we need.
As a long-distance grandma, it is fun and easy to express affection and feel connected to our grandchildren who we rarely get to see by buying little things for them that we think they would like. It came as quite a blow when our daughter-in-law asked us to stop. With four kids, I totally understand why she did. We are trying to help her maintain order in her house and move our grandchildren away from materialism by giving experience gifts now like family ice skating passes or consumable gifts like special sidewalk chalk.
Setting up a car/college fund for each grandchild is also a way that you can "gift" for special occasions. I also help out by setting up a fund for school clothes/shoes/coats each fall.
Watching your videos has really inspired me at 72 to rethink how I’m living .I thought I didn’t have much clutter but boy was I wrong. Thanks Dawn. P. S. I tell lots of people about your videos. Your family seems so happy. Ignore the Naa sayers
The new idea that shook me was in Bea Johnson's book "zero waste home": when we have 'more' than we use, need, love, we are keeping resources from circulating. We are withholding goods from our conmunity, people who would actually use that "extra" crockpot, sweater, sheet set, whatever. So in a way our holding onto things is causing others to suffer. Now my passive action of keeping things on shelves somewhere and unused becomes a negative action against people I don't know or who may live next door. Something I have never intended or wished.
Agree.ileft go of a stroller my toddler has grown out of this week iwas keeping it incase i needed it.i gave it away and was truly surprised by how NOT upset iwas about it.I told the girl if it stays here it's going Tobe wrecked from my little boy just jumping in and out of it .that's progress for me .
@@TheMinimalMom or in some vision of all the 'necessary things for a household'. Or, the drive to 'be prepared' so one doesn't look a fool, dependent on others, etc.
You hit the nail on the head with shopping as a pick me up. That was so me. I would hit the stores instead of dealing with the problem. It made everything worse. Thank you being honest about your journey. Have a great week!
Wow! I love the "divine appointment". This is exactly what I needed to hear this morning. Thank you both for sharing, and I pray that God continues to bless you.
Thank you for your Sunday morning message. My decluttering process has been slow but I am committed to get this done. I've slowly been going through my closet and donating items I haven't worn. But this past week I really dug into it... anything I didn't feel my best in I donated! The major contributing factor is I have lost 45 lbs in the last 18 months. It's frustrating because some of the items had only been worn a few times so you then feel guilty about the money spent. The secret though is to get the items out the door and to donation ASAP. Thanks to you I'm now starting to look at items in my kitchen differently so I will be attacking that area next. See you next Sunday.
Angela, I too lost weight and had a closet full of clothes I could not wear. I trained myself to not think about "the money I wasted". Instead I told myself it was a "blessing to some woman who actually needed it." This also helped my grandchildren part with things that no longer fit/they didn't use at my house. We didn't "get rid of it". We "passed it along to someone who would use it."
This is my favorite video of all! You have such a unique "voice" and perspective on things. I love it!! The irony is that I'm a single lady with no kids and yet I still feel blessed, encouraged, and challenged by your videos. I can relate to things like guilt, overspending, and self confidence issues, etc. I have told pretty much everyone I know about you and your channel. I pray that God continues to bless you and your work for your courage and faithfulness to follow Him and his leading.
Love your sister Sunday and bringing us to see the spiritual side as well. In June I will be a year on this journey of minimalist lifestyle...I will be the first to admit there is still room to keep peeling back the layers of “stuff” sitting around but certain friends have started saying they want a peaceful house like mine. And it is becoming easier to saying “no thank you” when people offer me items I know I don’t need! Have a blessed day!
I have known about minimalism for a long time and have been very slowly simplifying. I've been following you for over a year and doing some of the work. I was making a huge mistake in not taking the things out if the house right away... I'm realizing that it was mostly due to anxiety (about a multitude of things!). There is so much sitting in our garage and basement that needs to go! I am sick of the mess and the added anxiety that comes from it. Recently, we found out we are expecting our 3rd child. Since I found out I have been working tirelessly to get the stuff out. It's a lot of work (physically and emotionally) but I know it will be worth it. I'm going to be playing your videos all day today for inspiration. I have a kid free/ husband free couple of days to get some of it done! Thank you for all you do! Peace and love ❤️
Oh yes, getting the stuff out is such a good feeling! Don't let it build up again. I try to donate every week as part of my errand routine. Congratulations on the new one!
I am so sad to think that ANYONE would give you negative comments!!! I find your channel to be inspiring, uplifting and calming. Your family is joyful and you and your sister comfort me every Sunday. Thank you.
I haven't noticed too many negative comments. The ones that are a little bit seem to do with faith. I thought they were always labelled "Faith" but this one wasn't. I have the feeling that people who don't have faith feel blindsided by this.
Thank you for the tips and encouragement....and reminding us who really benefit from our purchases. I'm not a Christian but I used to be...and I remember that story in Acts. It's so wonderful to hear the way you recounted it. You two are special in so many ways.
Hey, I saw your sweet message.🙂 It's fun encouraging each other, isn't it? I wanted to share with you, that if you've accepted CHRIST as your SAVIOR...you are HIS child for all eternity. JOHN 10:27-30..talks about 'once we're HIS child', "no man is able to pluck them out of the FATHER'S HAND". We still sin...but we can come to HIM and ask for HIS forgiveness.. and, HE freely gives it. 1 JOHN 1:9❤
I would encourage you to find a lively church that's seeking Jesus and go for it. As the other lady said once you've accepted Jesus Christ into your heart He's with you.
I have loved this journey of minimalism since I started last year. I no longer want to bring items into the house and think twice before a purchase. However, my daughter who basically always got the things that she wanted throughout her 27 years finds this lifestyle more of a struggle for her. She is finally seeing the light...But I wish I had known the minimalist way of life when she was younger( like your children) so that entitlement type behavior didn’t exist with many from her generation. She is getting better and more aware of purchases and budgeting etc.. But I do see many adults of her age that are completely clueless. You bringing together everyday life and the Bible makes this truly a great channel. Love you both and what you bring to RUclips.❤️
I'm not religious and stop watching the faith videos when the minimalism part ends. But this video didn't have the same intro and design as the usual Sunday faith videos and I was surprised when the bible came out! Love the minimalism tips and discussions, though. Thanks.
i see a bible, i quit the video, i have nothing against someone that lives in faith to any god... for them.... but i do not like it when someone has the need to tell someone about their faith to someone else, i always think about a vegan told me to stop eating meat ... at a steakhouse ....
@@fkhg1 Just a kindly meant question. Do you feel offended when they share their minimalism journey? We all share things because we value the difference it makes in our lives. The same is true of faith. The problem I guess is when the people that are sharing are not sensitive to the fact that the people they're sharing with aren't interested. And they can't know that because you aren't in the room with them. I guess Diana reaching for her bible is your queue to stop listening.
I’ve learned that “things own us” we don’t own things! It’s very freeing to not own a lot of stuff! I love owning my “time” which gives me more energy for myself and my husband😇
I’ve always really cared for your channel but hearing your beautiful sister speak of God just... made my heart explode with love and gratitude! Thank you for including his grace in your message 🙏🏽💕
Love, love, love this video.💗 This was just the uplifting message I needed to keep me going with simplifying AND remembering the eternal perspective. Thank you!
I loved this!! Everything you said about the "old" you is me right now. I just can not seem to find the energy or time. I will not give up & get there at some point. I look forward to your post and know if you did it, so can I. Thank you for always sharing with us.
Your kids are so well rounded. Don’t listen to(or try not to!) people who try to discourage you on this journey. It’s actually a really amazing thing you’re doing with your fam. Hold your head up high! You inspire too many people!! Let the naysayers move right along. I know I struggle with caring way too much about what everyone else thinks, but I am an advocate for other women and especially women who empower others to keep up the good work. You rock, Momma!!
I love that you share the word of God in your videos with your twin sister. You guys are amazing and you inspire me to keep going on my journey to simplify my house and live peacefully and be a better mom and wife. Thank you, thank you, thank you to both of you!!! God bless! 💜 From Canada 🇨🇦
Wow! I hear (and see) how minimalism has positively changed your lives!! We seem to live in a society where the more “stuff” you have, the happier you should be 😔. Sad, but true. I realize that later in life, but I admire you both for seeing that so young. God bless you both.
RUclips suggested one of your videos to me weeks ago, and I was so encouraged and motivated that I began the decluttering process, with aspirations of becoming a casual minimalist😉. In the past few weeks I have donated about a dozen large boxes of items, thrown away several garbage bags full, and feel so excited not to he weighed down by “stuff!” I am also a homeschool mom, so in the mornings when my kids and I have table time, we have done the 5 minute challenge where we each try to find 3 things to get rid of in 5 minutes. And we’ve always found more than 3! This is a purposeful and rewarding journey, and I am so thankful I found your channel!
I have been watching your videos for a few months now and today I came upon this one and I loved the scriptural reference and the prayer given. I thank God for you, your sister and your minimalist ministry!
I've been listening do you ladies for about 6 weeks now. I am 62 years old and just retired a few months back. I've always been pretty organized in my house and my life. But listening to your talks has helped me to realize that it's time to let go of some stuff that takes too much of my precious time away, either cleaning it, or storing it away having to get it in and out for the holidays. Thank you for the reminder that we are Eternal and that is truly where I want to spend my time in God's word and prayer. I pray God God bless both of you!
Keep these videos on for enouragement before and during your decluttering time. Sometimes i get get mentally "Stuck" and overwhelemed, and I think, "Put Dawn on!" The positivity and concise messagss are amazing!❤
I absolutely love your videos. I’ve been wrapping my head around minimalism over the past few months. I’ve committed to my hubs that together we will streamline our home. My mom is also 90 and has a house full of “treasures” reality is these things own her and really aren’t treasures. I’m encouraging my siblings to do the same. Thank you!
I started to declutter around 4 months ago and have seen quite some progress. I have a toddler and a newborn. Today, my husband was in bed most of the day with a migraine. Even though I'm absolutely no minimalist, I managed to take care of them, play outside, keep up with the mess two kids leave behind and stay sane all on my own. Having decluttered and organized a lot, cleaning behind ourselves was so much easier than before! Thank you for your videos, I always listen to them while cleaning.
Thank you for all the advice, ideas and encouragement you keep passing along to all of us. This life changing decision is a lot harder than expected. But so grateful to be doing it. I keep looking forward to when it's all done. My daughter and I are just starting to clean everything out.Our daughter and 2 grandchildren just moved in with us and space is a premium we don't have. The crafts room is now in boxes stacked up everywhere. No garage and a very small shed is what we have to work with. My daughter has gotten rid of almost everything she owns and when she moves out she plans on being a minimalist. I've been watching you for a few years now and looking forward to having the peace in my life like you have now. When going through all of this stuff, I pray for the lord to help me because I can't do this by myself, and to let me know what to pass on and what to keep. This has been a great help for me. Love you guys so much.
I have found The Minimal Mom and enjoyed your videos. Watching you with your sister is a whole different level. You two are beautiful people who share love and joy. I am spiritual, but not very much in a religious, prayer like way. I enjoy very much how your sister brings in passages from the Bible and you both interpret them so matter of factly in modern terms. Very relevant! Thank you for such positive reminders.
I'm not religious, but I love listening to Diana because I can always take away a lesson from her teachings. This was a big one for me today. "Changing your heart posture" spoke to me. I'm a minimalist, and have been for about 4 years now, but I still struggle some days with "wanting more". This was a brilliant reminder. Thank you! ❤️
Dang...Diana BRINGING IT with “I am made for something eternal but I haven’t been filling myself with eternal things.” I’ve watched this video 3 times because it spoke to my heart in such a clear language. My family started “going minimal” last year and we have experienced family being upset with us for it. But I am experiencing more shalom in the home than ever before. Dawn and Diana thank you both for all you have taught me. keep these awesome videos coming. This one was by far my favorite. XOXO
Yes ! This year for the first time I’m getting birthday gifts way ahead, and enjoying it, decorating ( simply ) for holidays and enjoying that, because I have time and mental capacity, and fewer decor items so I love what I have. Thanks ladies ! Amazing improvement in my life.
Wow! I’ve been listening/ watching your videos for a couple months now and this one has especially resonated with me. I’m in tears over this because I also beat myself up on a daily basis over being messy/disorganized, but I’m starting to see that we may just have too many items in our hone for me to adequately manage. Thank you SO for sharing your journey and your faith! God bless!!🙏🏻💕
I have been watching your channel for a few weeks and it has made a huge difference in how I look at "stuff"!!! And thank you so much for sharing your faith!
One of the key things you mentioned was being able to better manage your household now.... if I were to be honest, there are days I don't want to think about managing my household, even without all the stuff.; then I use the stuff as an excuse. Watching your videos and listening to your heart for your family and God is having a huge impact on my attitude about all these things...
Dawn, you are truly an inspiration to me! I've been married 33 years so that's 33 years of accumulating stuff! I so desperately needed to follow this method when my children were small. It was always a struggle for them to clean their rooms or put away their toys, etc. I would threaten that I would quarantine their toys if they didn't put them away and honestly, they didn't care! They had way too many toys and way too many clothes that I can't imagine what it must've been like for them to have all that clutter in their brains with too many choices to make. I honestly can see how less is more and how much happier we all would've been! So now, my daughter comes over to help me declutter room by room and it has been a long process (Both my husband and I sometimes resist with certain items) but the result of having more space is so freeing! I enjoy all your videos and love when Diana joins you and ends with scripture and prayer. May God continue to bless you both and use you to bless others the way you have blessed me. ❤
Love you ladies! I think Sundays are my favorite! I never write comments but just wanted to let you know that I am addicted to your videos. They touch my heart! They encourage me to be a better mom and wife. I pray blessings over your family!
I just taught a minimalism class yesterday at a ladies event at our church. It was so much fun and I have you guys to thank. If I hadn't started this journey with you I could never help anyone else. It was a lively time and I had four ladies ask if I did one on one sessions, ha! This morning one of the ladies came up to me--after sharing yesterday that she is overloaded with care for family members--that she cleaned off an entire shelf this morning before church! I love it. So so love it! :)
I feel so encouraged watching your videos and I feel especially blessed by the prayers. Your voices are so encouraging and soothing and I feel God's word and strength permeating my soul in your explanations and prayers. Thank you so much. God bless you both and your families.
I have never binge watched a channel so much! I love the way you present information. The way you were feeling before you simplified is exactly how I feel now! I’m so inspired to change it thank you!
This made me cry. I want everything you mentioned! I posted in the member group this morning in a moment of desperation, and the support that I received was so tender, so kind, so understanding. I am suffocating, and I don't want to anymore. Today is a new start.
You are encouraging me to constantly be reevaluating my things and my attitude toward them. It gives me freedom, believe it or not, to not buy more things. I feel better about staying away from home decor stores. Usually it would be just because I couldn’t afford new things. Not it is also because i realize I don’t need new things a lot of the time.
I have been watching for about a year and taking small steps to minimalism. This weekend was so productive and this video just topped it off for me. Thanks to both of you for your guidance in minimalism and the sharing of scripture.
I have been listening through all of your videos and I love them. I think I'm about to turn the corner on having my home under control and I'm so excited! Thank you for your videos, the spiritual connections, and the inspiration!
I have sorta been on a decluttering journey. I regularly declutter my clothes. Recently did my yarn. Going to go through the rest of the house and see what I can declutter. Thank you for all you do!
I totally agree guys. You guys hit the nail on the head. I have minimized in my home over the last 3 years since my son was born and I have more time for my family, the important things not just the stuff I own, and we're saving so much money. We are also working on big projects because we have the money to do them. Your advice has changed my life. I also feel like a better mom because I'm a lot calmer. If I take anything away from minimalism is I got my life back because I look at stuff differently. I just don't need it. Love the channel.
I am so thankful you tied your faith to minimalism. I started decluttering after I realized how many opportunities to serve Christ had been lost or fallen drastically short because of being tied to the weight of responsibility toward "Stewarding" material possessions. Now I know stewardship can mean saying to myself "I do not need all of the nicest things that come my way, or to store up something on earth that I "will" need five years from now. God can take care of the needs of that day when it comes and I can be part of how he provides for another person who needs this today by giving it away." It's really hard and we are just starting. Thank you for the encouragement!
There are gifts and contributions that only we can make in this world . . . changes our focus. Valuing our most precious possession of "time" strengthens that focus for our loved ones and for ourselves. Thank you both.
I recently discovered your channel and I'm so happy I did!! I love your videos. They have given me the inspiration I needed to declutter my home. Thank you so so much!
Wait! What??? People criticize you for depriving your children???? Are you kidding me? You have been giving them what matters most! Dawn, you have changed my life! Thanks for putting yourself out there.
Oh yeah I get Criticism too, I just say look at the research. Kids are happier without so much stuff
You can't listen to those folks.
I just found your channel a couple weeks ago and I have been watching A LOT!
Wish I had found it years ago.
So much stuff...but less each day.
You go girl(s).
It’s ok to live counter-culturally in a culture that promotes being shallow and materialistic! I’m thankful for you and your channel!
Carrie, I love this phrase! I hope it's okay to use it to share with family and friends who challenge me!
Giving your children stuff can NEVER replace spending time with them and showing them love! And it's so true , the less stuff to care for the more time you will have to care for the people in your life that really matter!!
Amen.
Oh, and another plus that is not often mentioned: I no longer suffer from jealousy. Where I often used to think I wanted to have and do what others had (latest fashion, nice car, home decoration), I am now more focused on my family and so very grateful for what we have.
@Melissa Peltier So true!
Yes!!!!!! This is so good!!!!
@Melissa Peltier Me, too!
Oh my gosh! I soooooooo want to be where you are in this journey. I covet covet so many. It's terrible. I want to be free from "THE WANTS".
YES I’ve only been on this journey a couple of weeks, but I”m already way more grateful!!!!!
Oh my word.... “I’m made for something eternal”.... that hit home. I’ve definitely been too focused on things of this world. I needed that reminder.
erica tilley what’s been on my heart lately is our decisions should have eternal focus so this resonated with me as well 😊❤️
Amen 🙏
Loved the prayer. It was very encouraging
This explains why I have adamantly been picking up my bible and reading the gospel since I started decluttering a month ago. As my wordly possessions go, I need to fill that void with Jesus.

Wow, this is so cool!
Me, too! God bless. 💜

Wow Tammy!! Way to go!!!!♥️👍
Thank you for this video! Thinking of the people burning their stuff to ensure they had no false gods will help me to feel no guilt when throwing away stuff we don't need. Also, thank you for posting these Sunday videos! They fill my heart on the days that I can't get to church (sick kids, no sleep, etc.) Your videos have changed my life and home in an amazing way!❤
This is so awesome to hear Sharon! Thank YOU, too, we appreciate your support!!!! ♥️😊
You got this Beth! Keep going ❤️
That's so awesome!! Way to go!!!!
Yes!
God bless you
Hi Dawn,
I've always lived a simplified life and experience all the great benefits daily like you've mentioned.
1. I've Incorporated the "10minutes together" time with each of my kids at night (feels amazing bc 10 minutes is so doable)
2. I've started doing the "15minute walk" at home
3. I made the diy canvas with mod posh from dollartree with pictures of my children and made a family collage with it
4. I went out to Goodwill and bought myself a Bundt cake pan and a cake stand (since you've raved about Bundt cakes often) ... although I haven't quite perfect mines yet..but I plan on making homemade cakes from now on
5.I plan to get some toys you have recommended in the past videos for my kids
Wow!! This is incredible, you are an inspiration!! Way to go!!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️
Lady!!!! You are rocking it!!!!
Great improvements.
Oh my goodness. I love this!!
I've totally seen difference in you Dawn and it's beautiful. You inspire me in so many ways, and it's so fun to see you inspiring thousands and thousands of people around the world now. Just incredible!!! Keep crushing it!!
Thank you JoAnna!!!! We love you!! ♥️
I love it when she prays. It just touches me in such a deep way. ❤
The funniest thing that I have found since I started minimizing my life is people don't know what to buy me for special occasions. I end up getting a lot of gift cards now which is great for me, I just go out and buy what we need.
Yes, that's so true!! We ask for restaurant gift cards, love it!
Same here! Our girls get lots of movie passes or shopping trips with family which is so much more meaningful to them than the actual present!
"We're changing our heart posture. I'm made for something eternal" I love that!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the spiritual content in this video!! So great to hear! Thank you!
Amen, so beautiful and uplifting!
What you're saying is so true. I keep on top of things so easily now, I feel more confident. I also have no desire to buy "things"!
Win-win-win!! Way to go!!!!♥️👍
Such a powerful message about the big picture of minimal living and your heart posture!! Love you ladies and all of your wisdom you share with us 💝
The new idea that shook me was in Bea Johnson's book "zero waste home": when we have 'more' than we use, need, love, we are keeping resources from circulating.
Yes! Love this!! In a way, we're being selfish to hold onto things "just in case" ♥️
@@TheMinimalMom ♥️
I can relate to slow. But every step forward is a step forward.
Helene Bennie You’re absolutely right!
Angela, I too lost weight and had a closet full of clothes I could not wear. I trained myself to not think about "the money I wasted". Instead I told myself it was a "blessing to some woman who actually needed it."
This also helped my grandchildren part with things that no longer fit/they didn't use at my house. We didn't "get rid of it". We "passed it along to someone who would use it."
@@bethheerten1132 I like your message about passing it along.
I'm single too, near retirement, but Dawn's ideas help me immensely.
⅙
Wow Julie, THANK YOU so much!!!♥️
Love love this video! Having an eternal perspective is so important. “Store not up for yourselves treasures on earth..”
I'm loving your videos, Dawn. I'm so blessed by the spiritual perspectives that are shared.
"changing my heart posture" ... "you've breathed in us eternal purposes" wonderfully said.
Good luck today!
Oh yes, getting the stuff out is such a good feeling! Don't let it build up again. I try to donate every week as part of my errand routine. Congratulations on the new one!
I take the boxes and bags to Goodwill as soon as I can. Feels so good .. I even tipped the lady taking my stuff . You could do it .🤗
I love this perspective! I’ve not hears the link between minimalism and faith is such a clear way before. Thank you!
So very good!! I love how both of you pull together the spiritual with everyday life! We definitely need to take more time with God!
I have been working on the ‘onion’ simplifying system...loving it! My husband just shakes his head, laughs and tells me to ‘stay out of his shop’.
Yes stay out of your husband's domain! However even though he snakes his head and laughs it sounds like he is supporting you.
Helene Bennie ...for years now. I always have some “hairbrained” idea and he never complains. I am very blessed!
Thank you for the tips and encouragement....and reminding us who really benefit from our purchases. I'm not a Christian but I used to be...and I remember that story in Acts. It's so wonderful to hear the way you recounted it. You two are special in so many ways.
Hey, I saw your sweet message.🙂
It's fun encouraging each other, isn't it?
Thanks.
They usually mark them, but I think it's every Sunday video. I skip the faith content too
i see a bible, i quit the video, i have nothing against someone that lives in faith to any god... for them.... but i do not like it when someone has the need to tell someone about their faith to someone else, i always think about a vegan told me to stop eating meat ... at a steakhouse ....
Thank you, Dawn & Diana! Your Sunday messages are always refreshing and speak to my heart.
I’ve learned that “things own us” we don’t
own things! It’s very freeing to not own a lot of stuff! I love owning my “time” which gives me more energy for myself and my husband😇
That sounds great.
Y’all are so good together!
I’ve always really cared for your channel but hearing your beautiful sister speak of God just... made my heart explode with love and gratitude! Thank you for including his grace in your message 🙏🏽💕
I’m not religious, but I love that you love your sister so much to let her share with your viewers on her faith freely. Very nice
Also, I loved today's prayer! I had tears girls. Hit home!❤
True!
True!
True!
It happens to me.
Minimalism changed my life especially with 6 kids.
I feel like a better mom and a better wife.
Thank you ladies so much for your wisdom. I got baptized today and feel like a new person!
Wow that's awesome!
Love, love, love this video.💗 This was just the uplifting message I needed to keep me going with simplifying AND remembering the eternal perspective. Thank you!
Loved the prayer and the "change your heart posture". Thanks Ladies!
I loved this!! Everything you said about the "old" you is me right now. I just can not seem to find the energy or time.
I will not give up & get there at some point. I look forward to your post and know if you did it, so can I.
Thank you for always sharing with us.
They say the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Keep placing one foot in front of the other!
Love this! It’s so true...I felt so overwhelmed by everyday life. When I decluttered my home I felt so relaxed and happy
We’re changing our “heart posture” really hits home for me.
I'm starting the minimalist life. We have way too much!! And its overwhelming
It is overwhelming when you get started!! Keep going it is SO worth it!! ♥️👍😊
My advice is set your own pace. The important thing is to keep going no matter how long the journey.
Keep these videos on for enouragement before and during your decluttering time. Sometimes i get get mentally "Stuck" and overwhelemed, and I think, "Put Dawn on!" The positivity and concise messagss are amazing!❤
Katie S good luck with it all you’ll feel great as each bag gets full and out of your house gives you more time for you
I absolutely love your videos.
I love these videos that include your sister sharing scripture-based inspiration that really helps us focus on what is of true importance.
"❤ posture" so true. What is my ❤ tied to?
I have been watching your channel for a few weeks and it has made a huge difference in how I look at "stuff"!!! And thank you so much for sharing your faith!
I needed that Word from the Lord. Thank you. I have really enjoyed following your videos.
Thank you for tying this in with your faith and how our focus needs to be on the eternal things, not the temporal things!
Thank you for your prayer!! I really, really appreciated it ❤
One of the key things you mentioned was being able to better manage your household now.... if I were to be honest, there are days I don't want to think about managing my household, even without all the stuff.; then I use the stuff as an excuse.
You are doing your children a great service. They are learning how to live free without being a slave to stuff. I think it is awesome!
Love you when you bring your twin sister on the show. Such FUN ENERGY!!! SO FUN!!
Yes I am so inspired!!! Thank you. Everything you say makes perfect sense & so relatable.
Hi Dawn and Diana. You two are such fun, encouraging, uplifting people. Thank you for being you.
Love you both - so down to earth and such great, life changing information shared. Thank you and keep it up!
I love your channel. You all have helped me tremendously. This video is right on time. Blessings to you and your family from Memphis, TN 💕
Wow! Make room for what's important, make room for His guidance...another great message. Thank you ❤
I totally agree guys.
Your home looks so clean and airy, so peaceful. What a great setting to raise children in!
I love the connection to spiritually changing our hearts! ❤️
