As I've posted on Facebook, quality job that, love how its been done properly, with no corners cut, just all done the right way, it's a crying shame you don't see the same effort, pride, and high standard of work in other similar videos, more work for the proper joiners I guess though lol, UTB
I just subscribed and I want to say thank you for sharing your experience and expertise. I have a similar setup in my home and I was telling my wife we should replace the current pony wall with a glass railing. After seeing yours I think I am sold. :)
@@RadDadBuilds Ugh, I feel like I missed the boat big time by not starting my channel 5 years ago. Finished my basement, full theater two different lighted handrails many furniture builds. Oh well!
I hope that glass is hardened and turns into bits of glass gravel when it shatters, instead of large lethal glass knives. Honestly I think using clear ultra-scratch-resistant Lexan or similar would have been vastly better than any type of glass. Even a kid running full tilt and sliding into that type of Lexan would just bounce off and it would still look basically exactly like glass. I'm also a bit concerned about the actual strength of that post since it's only half thickness going through the floor but it's probably just me being overly conservative.
Thank you - stair newel posts have always perplexed me. I like your solution for making it sturdy. Everything about these stairs are gorgeous. What was your cost of materials?
@ 20:26 the left red/black cable goes into the transformer, does the second red/black wire (in the middle) connects a series of LED strips (daisy chain each for each stair)? Also where does the brown cable connect to? Thanks
Thanks, I got my glass from my local auto glass supplier. They deal automotive and residential glass needs. Just search glass supplier in your local area I’m sure someone can hook you up.
Well done! Beautiful design and execution. Did you just order your glass from a glass shop? How thick was it and was it custom-made and tempered? Can you give a sense of what that cost? Thanks for the great channel
How much of an overhang did you end up with on the stair treads? I'm planning to do this, but with 15mm nosing and 15mm LED channel I'm looking at 30mm overhang which is potentially a bit much?
It looks fabulous, takes a skilled carpenter to do it that neat. I'm thinking of doing something similar on a patio surround. Can I ask did you let the 1st bead of silicone set in the channel before fitting the glass??
Not sure why you are not blowing up! I hope you do! Your an inspiration and I love how you incorporate your son in your videos. Really good stuff on this one. I am going to go give you a follow on instagram!
Hey there, what if someone doesn’t have electricity under their stairs? Bc or house is build not in a normal way 😂 our bedrooms are downstairs and living room/kitchen upstairs… is there a way I can do this without having a plug under my stairs?
Ok so ... How do you get underneath the stairs?! We also have a staircase which is between 2 concrete walls but we have nowhere to go underneath the stairs ... How do I attach the treads then that they're sturdy and safe enough?
Honestly the subfloor adhesive or any construction adhesive would be strong enough to hold the treads down. You might want to tape them to secure them in place until the adhesive has dried. They tend to move slightly as you walk on them when wet.
Stumbled across this channel by luck and really enjoy the way you explain (and the quality of your work). Defo getting a sub from me! Food for thought for some future videos/tutorials: If you could not use your shop tools as I'm sure lots of newbies like me don't have them and would struggle to work out how we could complete a project with standard/basic tools. (Not sure if that makes any sense, but bottom line is, you're awesome and like your work...YEEEEAAP!)
Hi Rad Dad, this is really awesome! I'm looking to follow this video and upgrade to glass railings. Just wondering how stable your build is, with the glass just sitting in the wood channels? For me both ends of the rail are posts that are free standing (unlike yours where one end is attached to the wall), which is why I'm a little unsure..
Thanks a lot dude, yea I love it. I’ve used pretty much every brand of finish available and although osmo can be finicky it’s by far the best finish in my opinion.
This is beautiful! Thank you for sharing your gift and ingenuity.
This is great, with the wee guy in as well. Brilliant
ThankYou
He makes the video tbh haha
Ha "I'm ok" 🤣
Wow awesome. Nice project you have There

Ton of potential storage under that stair case if you can make it accessible in some way... easily hide away suitcases and such under there.
Dude your videos are amazing. Subbed
Thanks dude
Good Job bro and greetings from Germany Cologne 👌

SAMEEE! Thank you. The light part does freak me out though so might have to spend dollars to get a professional in :(
Amazing 🤩
Thank you! Cheers!
This is amazing
Thanks a lot 🤙
Looks great!!! I did a lighted handrail just before I started my RUclips channel unfortunately.
Thanks dude, I’m the same I’ve done so many cool projects before I started making videos. I just wish I started sooner
@@RadDadBuilds Ugh, I feel like I missed the boat big time by not starting my channel 5 years ago. Finished my basement, full theater two different lighted handrails many furniture builds. Oh well!
If we all had a workshop 😮
Your works are super impressive and inspiring! Pls do a video on your interior door too!
ThankYou, I have a video uploaded of the making of that door
@@RadDadBuilds yeah just saw it. Way over my ability. Damn it.
活干的漂亮👍

from fb to your channel... awesomee...
Thanks for the support 🤙
Looks great! You didn't list the transformers on the electrical list.
Great work! Love this channel.
Thankyou
You could have use motion sensors . But looks good 👍
Very sick... I wonder if you could put a dimmer on the LEDs.
Excellent work! I just subscribed so I don't miss any new tutorials 😃
Thank you
How did you figure out the mitre cuts and angles for the handrail and newel post to make it a 90 degree angle?
I hope that glass is hardened and turns into bits of glass gravel when it shatters, instead of large lethal glass knives. Did you let the silicone dry before putting the glass in? Or was it used as a glue??
No I put the glass in right away. Granted I could have used a little less to save on clean up.
@ 20:26 the left red/black cable goes into the transformer, does the second red/black wire (in the middle) connects a series of LED strips (daisy chain each for each stair)? Also where does the brown cable connect to? Thanks
Dude you look like the hulk guy. Even your voice. Anyways really appreciate your post
Thanks i guess
Amazing! Where did you order the glass panels from? Thank you for the great video!
Thanks, I got my glass from my local auto glass supplier. They deal automotive and residential glass needs. Just search glass supplier in your local area I’m sure someone can hook you up.
@@RadDadBuilds I appreciate the reply! Sounds good, I will get my dimensions together and try that route as well for the custom glass! :)
What are those things that are under the stairs? They're under every stair and made of wood.
Well done! Beautiful design and execution. Did you just order your glass from a glass shop? How thick was it and was it custom-made and tempered? Can you give a sense of what that cost? Thanks for the great channel
hey yea I ordered the glass from my local auto glass shop. the glass is 3/8" thick and tempered and cost me $320 CAD
Nice video wanting to do something very similar, what was the purpose of reinstalling the old treads instead of just using the ones you made?
Wow!!
Thankyou
will wood movement be a concern?
How much of an overhang did you end up with on the stair treads? I'm planning to do this, but with 15mm nosing and 15mm LED channel I'm looking at 30mm overhang which is potentially a bit much?
Neat!

Hey thanks, no I didn’t though it probably would have been a good idea. Help keep the glass from sliding around.
@@RadDadBuilds thanks, might go that route myself. It was great to c the way you did it......👍👍
Loved it, got inspired to do glass stairs railings, thanks mate.

i need to get me a battering ram like yours lol do you have a link?
haha they come in handy for sure, no link yet but ill have a look.
Great video! What is a good place to order the glass?
Thanks, I ordered my glass from a local glass and auto glass supplier. 90% of the time they can accommodate or order in whatever ive needed.

What do you think the estimate price would be for this diy job?
You did great btw!
Anyone know how much does it cost to hire a contractor to pull this off? (labor only)

Yes 3/8” tempered

@@RadDadBuilds id have to give it a try since my local lumber yard carries it.
👏👍
I wanted to mock that allegedly silly 'yehp' but the work is too fabulous for me to disrespect.
Its a Yewwww! But Thank you
Those stairs looked like a diy job to begin with. They dont make stairs like that.
I think so too. They where terrible
that soundboks can't be good for ur kids ears surely? love soundboks but only as a 20 year old haha
That glass handrail is so pointy.. Your kids may go blind or have a hole on their forehead.. Please chamfer it 45°...
Other than that, greatnwork..
Jesus. Just make the damn stuff. Stop doing that damn high pitched noise crap. Other than that... Good video
Yewwww , thanks
Well stopped that quick. Music was annoying as fuck.
