Can't beat just plain ole vanilla!!! Especially homemade ice cream!!! Never had the opportunity to try goat milk ice cream but I'm betting it is awesome!!!! You kitchen is beautiful!!!! Stay safe!!!
When I had a countertop ice cream maker the kids and I made ice cream a lot and after putting the ice cream in a container to go in the freezer I gave the kids the “bowl” and spoons and they scraped it pretty clean 🤣 we added chocolate chips a lot or just used homemade chocolate syrup on it.
That sounds awesome! I need some kids to scrape the bowl ... and figure out any new electronics for me, lol! Right now my topping of choice is caramel sauce. 😋😋😋
Yes it was in description but here it is. Single Batch Goat Milk Ice Cream: 4 cups milk 3/4 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 4 egg yolks Thank you for asking!
Looks amazing! Thanks for the tutorial! We are getting goats this week on our homestead for the first time! This video made me so much more excited! Quick question: how does it freeze? I’ve heard homemade icecream always freezes too hard... is this true? Were you able to get dipable icecream after frozen or was it rock solid? Blessings to you and yours!
Hi ~ Congratulations on becoming new goat owners! They are wonderful animals and you are sure to love it 😊 You are correct about homemade ice cream. It freezes pretty hard. There are a couple of things you can add to the recipe to help such as alcohol and increased sugar or corn syrup. We just pull it out of the freezer and set it on the counter for 15 minutes or so prior to serving. Thank you for watching & commenting ❣️
Why do you heat the milk to a simmer after adding the sugar? Are you pasteurizing? Not indicting just trying to understand your method. A number of others are heating to somewhere between 170°F to under 180°F for the batter/custard portion. Great comment about why you refrigerate the custard mixture before putting it into the ice cream machine. Possibly one other tip. You can use an old tyme ice cream churn and use water softener salt with the ice. The ice cream churn is a lot cheaper than some of these newer churns (
You can use cow's milk, creamline milk, or add some cream to the cow's milk to make it creamier. Just do not use ultra pasteurized cow's or goat's milk. You may find it difficult to find cream that is not ultra-pasteurized in grocery stores. You can buy goat milk straight from the farm in most states and it will be better than in the stores.
The concept of goaty milk comes from not handling the goat milk in the proper manner. Not one time has our goat milk tasted goaty. The udders need to be washed properly and milk chilled quickly after milking. The milking equipment needs to be cleaned properly every time. Also the feeding can affect the flavor. They must be fed properly. If you are buying milk that has had improper techniques used then yes it will taste goaty. Plus it may be unsafe.
@@OzarkMountainGoats I'm in the uk, and all the milk I have tried is very goaty! But we want to get goats when we move... I'm a little intimidated y a milk cow! And think they would be a good fit. It's a big jump from chickens, ducks and turkeys to goats! 🐐 and we want to use all the milk we get
@ThatBritishHomestead Are you buying your goat milk in the store or direct from a farm? Store bought goat milk has had cream stripped from it because that is where the money is in the cream. They then re-add cream to the goat milk but it does not even taste as good as the skim milk from my farm. The second problem is you are in the UK. The government there may not allow you to buy farm fresh goat milk, so you will need to ask what the farm is selling you. The stuff I get from my does is really great. People have tried my pasteurized goat milk that I have given them and want to buy it, but I can't sell it to them because of regulations. I drink my natural and cold from the ice box and it is better than any milk I have had. My does eat a lot of alfalfa hay and a good grain. If you feed them garbage don't expect the best milk. But goat milk is only goaty when old or from goats not fed the best feed.
@@katrinaanon1038 we tried to get 'fresh' but it tastes so strong of goat... even the raw milk we get here is very goaty and that's cows milk! But I'm in London we are not know for our farms! lol so there are no farmers to ask.
@@ThatBritishHomestead Go to a different farm. They are doing something wrong, selling you maybe week old goat milk, not feeding their goats proper feed. Our goat milk is so sweet, my wife has not purchased cream in our 3 years of dairy. People who have tried ours says it tastes better than cow milk they get from the store. I don't think ours is that much better than cow, but I haven't tried day old cow's milk and we have 1,2,3-6 day old milk. After 6 days we make ricotta because ricotta stays pretty good.
If anyone’s tried to go milk ice cream, does it smell? I just purchased goat milk and plan on making ice cream I realized after I bought the milk sometimes the goat milk has a strong smell
Depends on the breed of goat, what they are fed and how milk is treated. Our goat milk had very little difference in taste than cow milk. So, can't really tell you because we know none of those factors. Sorry, I hope it's great for you.
It depends on the breed of goat..i get mine fresh from my goats and there is no smell and it tadtes better than the cows milk we used to get from the store..our goats are nubian and lamancha
Why don't you make with all raw milk and eggs since you produce as pastured? It would be healthiest and easiest to make. Also if you use organic natural sugar replacement, that would be no brainer healthiest yummy food in the world!
Our 2 alpines.. they give us 2 gallons a day!! 😇💕
That's great. I like alpines.
Looks delicious!!
It definitely is! 😋

Beautiful video as always and very educational on how to make delicious 😋 ice cream 🍨 with goat 🐐 milk 🥛 🙂
Thank you! We love it 😋
I made this with our fresh goats milk from our nubians. It's amazing.
Yay! Goat milk ice cream is so delicious 😋
Gorgeous kettle! Like the flowers
Thank you, it’s “Pioneer Woman” ❤️
Looks yummy
Thank you, it is 😋😋😋
I think I'm going to try this with monkfruit sweetener and maybe a couple extra egg yolks, (I think it will make it creamier). Thank you! ❤
Sounds great! Good luck with it 😊

Can you make it without suger?
Hi . Thank you for the recipe. I’ve tried out using my goats milk. However the the ice cream seems melting very fast. Anything I can do to
Improve it
Eat it faster!!😂😂
Could i use with just store bought milk or heavy whipping cream?
