RCB don't have a replacement for Faf, Maxwell and Green. And no international class spinner. This alone makes it the worst auction performance. They have literally no overseas batsmen or all rounder to replace their main players.
I think SRH did very well in this mini auction picking up a captain and an all round opener. Their batting lineup look very strong and so does their bowling. On paper they look like champions. Let's see.
With Gambhir out there I was sure that KKR was going to come out with a fairly decent squad after all they already had a strong Indian core. They only needed a premier fast bowler to give them the edge and an X factor. With Starc they did exactly that and then went for some cheap spot-on replacements. Now if they manage to get the pitch to their liking KKR is sure to make it through to the playoffs.
KKR looking terrific. Gun spin bowling attack, Went all out for Starc and cheaply sneaked in chetan sakaria. On slow and turning eden pitches, they are going to be a gun bowling attack. Gambhir did excellent job. GT didnt really capitalize on having the highest amount of money prior to auction. Couldn't get anyone of Starc, Cummins, Coetzee or Madushanka. Now will have to rely on unproven johnson in indian conditions. But they are still a terrific attack with rashid, shami, mohit and noor. I feel they can play umesh to bowl him upfront, not playing johnson and thereby generating a spot for Williamson.
Same story for Rcb Few really big names but also have big gaps in their bowling Department and also no real match winning Indian Core (Especially Allrounders)

If the players can keep their internal differences aside they will go long way.

With Gambhir out there I was sure that KKR was going to come out with a fairly decent squad after all they already had a strong Indian core. They only needed a premier fast bowler to give them the edge and an X factor. With Starc they did exactly that and then went for some cheap spot-on replacements. KKR looking terrific. Gun spin bowling attack, Went all out for Starc and cheaply sneaked in chetan sakaria. On slow and turning eden pitches, they are going to be a gun bowling attack. Gambhir did excellent job.
GT didnt really capitalize on having the highest amount of money prior to auction. Couldn't get anyone of Starc, Cummins, Coetzee or Madushanka. Now will have to rely on unproven johnson in indian conditions. But they are still a terrific attack with rashid, shami, mohit and noor. I feel they can play umesh to bowl him upfront, not playing johnson and thereby generating a spot for Williamson.
Spencer Johnson is going to be handy at Ahmedabad pitch. And they have all types of bowling covered.

Still went to play the qualifier round because they had pure 7 matchwinner batsmen. This year they are complete. Hardik coming back only strengthens the team. If the players can keep their internal differences aside they will go long way.
