Thank you so much, Regina and Sabrina! It is such a sincere reaction for Dimash, I enjoyed watching this story with you as always.
Have you seen Dimash are singing in duet? For example "My swan" with another great Kazakh opera singer Mayra Mukhamedkyzy :

Also Dimash and Zarina Altynbayeva at the ceremony of opening the Asian Sport Games in Kazakhstan:

I wish you'd enjoy both of these performances. Thanks a lot for your job.💐

The outfit is called sapaan, the band members are his colleagues from his music college and the elderly couple are his teachers. The other lady in the video who was singing with him in the beginning is Ms Maira Mukhamed is famous Kazakh opera singer. He did a duet with her in song "MY SWAN" , in Bastau solo concert 2017, ( earlier videos in his channel). The performance is uploaded in his YT channel ( just above the Adai+ Daididau video), must check that. Later this year he did solo of that same song in MV as "AKKuym/my swan".

Thank you for taking the time to look into the background of this wonderful song!
It meant a lot to Dimash to perform it on Singer 2017; he was hoping to stay in the competition long enough to be able to show it to the Chinese audience, and had always planned to sing it about half-way through the show.

So the story got better, and then worse. I Googled it. The poet was released, and found that his wife (Daididau) was still waiting for him. Then the Stalinists re-arrested him and then excecuted him.

Kazakh people have suffered and fought lots of empires like the Chineese, The Mongols, The Ottoman an many others and each one tried to destroy their heritage and culture, most recently the Soviets even made Kazakhstan their nuclear atmospheric test site until the ban on late 70's. That's why they speak Kazakh and Russian their religions are 60% Muslim and 40% Christian Orthodox.

Kazakhstan and Ukraine have very similar histories. Google the Zulmat, which is the Kazakh word for Holodomor, meaning genocide (in this case by intentional famine) in Ukrainian. Millions starved to death. There are documented cases of cannibalism because the people were so desperate. Both countries suffered greatly under Soviet control. This song by Dimash is truly heartbreaking. Since you enjoy world history, perhaps you will find this interesting: euromaidanpress.com/2019/03/13/new-film-shows-kazakhs-they-suffered-a-holodomor-too-infuriating-moscow/
