Needed a custom piece of carpet and used Instabind to finish it. Super easy and has lasted for 13 years. People think it was professionally bound. Highly recommend.
We used this binding on 2 projects over a yr ago: first - to turn a large full room rug into a long hallway runner, and second - we took the corners off another large full room rug to turn it into a large oval rug - we have been very pleased with the results. These rugs get used daily; walked on by us; run on & played on by our pups- and the edge trim still looks great. We have had no problem with it in any way.
This looks awesome! The concept is simple, and yet, it looks great. I am going to try this with some carpet remnants.
how did the carpets turn out?
The binding I got had a different backing to it where I was unable to separate the ends to join them together. Not sure why mine is different than what’s on the video, but ended up butting the ends and it doesn’t look bad. Not sure the underside will stick well enough so plan on putting a bead of hot glue all around this as well. At least I was able to make a 6 x 8 foot extra piece of carpeting left over from carpet being laid in my bedroom to make a matching rug in the living room.. all in all, glad I found this product.. looks a LOT better than just frayed edges on my new rug.

Well, working on my rproject now... so far, so good but....... The corners are not as simple as the video but be patient, you will get the hang of it. Hey, you aren't building a church. I'm very happy with the procuct.
how to fix carpet up carpet

Does any one know if you had a carpet already with a whipped edge you could cut the edges of to resize the carpet than do this process to replace the whipped edge?
I think so
Yeah or you can just cut the edge a few inchs or so in with a straight edge or loop cutter depending on the carpet, cut the size you want and then seam the whipped edge back on to itself. Will be stronger in the long run for sure.

notice how the only part that didnt just peel right off the carpet was the part they used hot glue. by the looks of it, you would be better off using scotch tape to hold the binding to the carpet
I have this on a rug in my living room and it is great. Like all tape the longer you leave it on the more adhered it is. I could not pull it off the back of my rug now if I tried. You want to put the glue along the edge to help keep the carpet from fraying when you vacuum it. I would recommend this it was a lot cheaper then having my rug bound.
