My dad's brother, TSGT Ernest Merton Alcorn was in this stalag for 13 months. He was one of the three to survive from the ten-man crew of the B-17 "Heaven Can Wait", Capt. George McFall. He was released at the time this movie was filmed. This clip means a lot, thank you.
Another prisoner held at this camp was a Flying Officer Donald Pleasence. He was housed with WO John "The Mole" Fancy, Lt Com Jimmy Buckley and James "Cookie" Long RAF. These three were transferred to Stalag III after escaping and being responsible for the actual Great Escape.

My grandfather, Bill Mildren, was imprisoned here for nearly two years. He was a B26 pilot. During his time of captivity, he lost 75lbs and subsisted off two meals a day of thin soup and black bread. Thankfully he returned home and lived a long and happy life, but what an awful experience for these men to have gone through.

My father (Freddie Westcott) was an RAF pilot who was a POW in Stalag Luft 1 in Barth. (He died in 83). I have his diary and address book with names of people who were there..I'd love to see if any of them are around..not sure how I go about it. Thank you for uploading this. Are there any others? (apart from parts 1 2 and 3)
