Too good Jeff. Annotative objects have scared me for ages but your explanation has removed my "Annophopia". I'm heading back to my drawing now and I know that in a few minutes I'll have my output looking just the way I want it do. Thanks again for this and all your other 30min workouts.
Thank you Jeff, since annotative was released I've never used it (always using the old fashioned labeling ways) , after viewing this short, simple, easy to understand, high valued, most educating video as always, so I'll say goodbye to my Old Ways ...
Oh sir you taken the annotations to the next level , I understand the options clearly , I tried previously this option but I can't understood how to use but the mistry has been revived thank you jeff
Shared on my profile. Quality stuff as always. Never understood how the annotative objects work. Brain is firing with all sorts of ways to utilize the annotative objects now that I am familiarized with how they work inherently. Thanks again!
Thanks Jeff, is there a way to have a smart TEXT to the in a viewport so they would not upside-down. I understand if "Match text to the orientation of viewport" is selected, Text will display horizontally to the orientation of the viewport, but we don't that, we want to avoid text to display upside down. this would be very useful for instance to display the Boundary labels which they need to align with the direction of Lines and Arcs not the Viewport.
Which text book do you recommend for application of standard texts and dimention sizes for different paper sheets and scales? I am a Civil 3D user I would like to have a reference of standard texts and sizes for my work.
Hi Asem, I recorded a fairly extensive Civil 3D title for Lynda.com a couple years ago. It covers all of the Civil 3D fundamentals. If you are interested in taking a look at it, you can find it here lynda.com/jeffbartels
Hi my name is Fredy Reyes Thank you, Mr. Bartel you are a master on this, I have a question to you, I am learning cv3d and I have a problem with the size of the label of the point on the layout, I have tried to change the scale and the size of them, but it doesn't change. what do I have to do to make it readable?. Do you have a previous video to check that problem? thank you for all the job you do.
Ive been using annotative and taking advantagenof its simplicity and power until i joined another company. They hated it when they get involve in collab. They complained and i have to go back in time and use the old school way of creating dozens of dimension styles.
Hi Jeff, Thanks for your clear, concise, and informative posts. They are extremely helpful. I have been working for a short time for a firm that does relatively small projects. As the projects are relatively small, they like to keep all AutoCAD and civil 3d information in one drawing. When working in paperspace this is no problem as you can freeze, and thaw layers as required. Doing this does not affect the other viewports. However, working in model space, it becomes extremely complicated especially when you have all the information, services and surfaces including cut and fill etc in one drawing. Freezing and thawing, or turning layers off and on in model space does affect all viewports in paperspace. Is there a way that you can turn layers off and on in model space without affecting all the viewports in paperspace? This would enable you to work with only the information you want to see in model space and not affect all the viewports. Thanks again Ralph
Hi Ralph, Take a look at the VPMAX and VPMIN commands. They allow you to work through a layout viewport essentially letting you work in model space while retaining the layer settings of the selected viewport. This video should help get you started. ruclips.net/video/RGN3appbvJ0/видео.html The challenge you have described is exactly the reason this feature was created. Hope this helps! Thanks for your support!
@@JeffBartelsCAD Thanks Jeff for your prompt reply. I did not dream of getting a reply so soon. I have looked at Jerry's video and will start using the command to see if this helps. Thanks again.
You are the best Civil 3D instructor that I've seen. Thanks for all you do!
Wow, thanks!
100 % true !!!! hi is best, I am a self-learner and I know most online training on youtube, forums, etc and his lessons are the best :)
The best?? Noooo, but the best of the best💪

you are the best! I'm learning so much with your videos. Congratulation and tank you so much.
Ive stumbled through C3D for years yet managed to get the job done. However I was always lost on this topic. Thank you so much for this video.
LOVED THIS 👏👏👏👏👏👍

Brilliant! Thank you Jeff

Great topic, I always struggle with scaling of dims and text, now it will be easier
Great to hear!
Great! Thank You Jeff
Hi Sir Jeff, can you please consider to discuss in depth the Survey Tab of Civil3D. Thanks.
Is it possible to make line and curve labels annotative like this?

Great topic
Can u please make a complete course of civil 3d by applying on any project from A to Z ?

Bartels, I’d give you if allow 100 thumbs up. Thank you. This topic has been always a little cumbersome for me. Now it makes sense and powerful.
Thank you so much Carlos! I consider those other 99 thumbs up to be like money in the bank :) Glad the information was helpful!

Does having too many annotations set up slow the drawing down?
how can I sign up for the live version?
I was wondering the same thing. I really would like to sign up for this classes.
