Here is a tip in case nobody has mentioned it, with a Karikino giant crab you can grab these birds in the wild and bring them to an area that's relatively safe and it will hold it until you set up the trap or take it to an area that's already pre-built. Whistle passive release bird then cryo the crab or put it out of the agro range to use the cage effectively so the bird only agros on you.
Oh, something else I figured out. It doesn't matter if all your feathers are from the same Yi Ling. I had two attacking me at the same time, and I was able to stun and tame both of them at the same time. Even though the 30 feathers was a combination of both of them.
I took a break after evolved that kinda ruined it for me for a while, but im back on asa and watching ark vids again so OT bloody great to see you still at it mate looking forward to many more vids
Nooblets nailed an awesome trap again. I just tamed my mom and dad with that trap. Now I can make a baby to get some rock drake eggs. Thank you nooblets.
i really need to try this trap... you as usually helping a lot making this tough tames more easier to us... i tried 3 times without a trap, but it was a pain...

@Bobasaurus2 I do like the efficiency but what I noticed with her design is that sometimes hits 0 efficiency if the first feather misses. She notes this herself. Technically this isn't important though because you get 30 feathers before ever walking into the trap and then just use it for the dive bombs. Unfortunately, that means Nooblets trap will get my vote.
@siinrajiaal yeah I mean, I usually stay outside the trap and it's worked 100%of the time for me whereas with Steve's trap it's only worked the once every other time the Yi Ling has gone into that run it does instead of doing the dive.
I hope they don't patch this out. I really hate super hard taming processes. When sinomacrops came out for ASE I really wanted these. I watched your video on taming them. After a huge number of hours trying I gave up and set my server tame rate to times 10 or something and managed to tame two low level 30ish ones only. A male and a female. Set back my taming multiplier and never tried again

ppl complaining that this is an expensive trap is actually hilarious....you can get the stone very quickly for traps like these. I usually premake building pieces and keep them on myself or my mount to throw down when I find a dino. You can farm the mats for this pretty quickly even on official settings let alone on boosted servers. I get resource conservation, but taming speed is more important on pvp servers. You wanna get in, get the dino, and get back to base asap on pvp. If you'd rather mess around with a dino that derps out and starts walking or pecking instead of gliding, and wasting time and energy resetting its aggro, and possibly lose taming effectiveness, by all means, use another trap. (4-6 foundations, and 16 walls is not much cheaper than this lol)

No. I don't think they like ppl making traps which is why all the terrestrial dinos now avoid pathing into most of the popular traps. Certain ones still work though. You just have to use the right build pieces, because the AI only paths away from certain building pieces. I think the pillar traps for rexes still work, but foundation/wall traps with ramps don't because they avoid running up ramps 95% of the time. (Gotta really use yourself as bait and let em chew, and you might get lucky and they fall in. xD)
@zeptfatal8286 It''s unnecessary. A 2 by 2 works just as good if not better. This is just a bulky waste if resources, especially if you're rushing things in pvp and need them starting out

@NOOBLETS I did watch it. You may not be on PvP servers. So here is some insight. What we look for in traps is how easy and cheap it is to make them. We don't want to build a massive structure each time. It's not efficient, and it draws unwanted attention this is especially true when new servers drop.

lol some noobs thought a 2x2 box trap, that I did 9 years ago, was some how new. i've only done a few 100's of versions of it over the years, but I guess some new Ark fans didn't now that. ;)
These mfs will NOT dive bomb me. Spent 2+ hours round and round the trap, plenty of feathers in me, circles, circles, drops down and runs at me, rinse and repeat over and over and over. WTF was wrong with knockout tames?! "Balance" my hairy aunt. Pyro and Cosmo are OP and take no effort, but the barely useful pigeon needs to be next to impossible for some reason.
Same for me. I get the stacks, he keeps flying around me and just lands after some time. Over and over. Never does the dive. I tamed 3 Yi Lings so far but now they are just bugged?
The first one did not work at all, in fact on public servers the Yi Ling didn't at all like that video. There is a timer before you lose all the feathers in reality, and they randomly get caught on everything on the map and bug out which is going to happen when you havent admin wiped everything in the area. They never get stuck in the traps ever, can atttack tbrough them, and can get into them. Really tired of how dishonest the Ark stan videos have become.

Honestly, this is just not necessary.. literally all you need is 4 square foundations and 16 walls or 6 triangle foundations and 16 walls. There's no need for all this extra bits and bobs
On my experience with 4 foundations they walk more and try to peck at you more that fly around, after watching the first video it prove my theory right, this method got me 2 high lvl ones already

Can i also use a mount? I get the 30 feathers on the mount and shoot the stun plant on the yi ling and then feed the bio toxin. Or does that not work?

Every time I try this. The yi ling just shoots me from grappled onto a cliff side, nothing happens. Just constant shooting

I had the Problem to had 100 Feathers and then it makes no divebomb to reset it. Or after 4 Feedings they fly away . It is Not nice to tame

If you can’t get enough stone for the trap you should tame a doedicurus, or wait to try and tame a yi ling until you have more stuff and Dino’s.

Its an annoying tame lol
