  • Metal in Motion shows you how to diagnose a "no crank" situation for a riding mower or zero turn mower. For a riding mower the principles are the same, just instead of ZTR handles you'll have a brake, blade engage/PTO switch, and sometimes a seat or neutral switch. Today's mower is a MTD Pro ZTR 25hp with a 54 inch cut. Sorry in advance for the shaky video. I didn't realize it was so shaky until editing...but the content is good so learn from that!!

I really appreciate you sharing your practical step by step thinking on successfully tackling this problem, complete with overcoming interim difficulties. When faced with a dead riding mower, the plethora of possible problems is initially overwhelming. Thans for breaking it down. I need to get better with the schematics....

Ill try and do some more “no start” videos as I get the equipment in. Same for the electrical schematics. If I can finds a schematic for a problem mower I get in, I will do another walk through. It will become clearer the more we do.

Uni-T UT210e & Uni-T UT211B Both do ac/dc & very low dc through clamp to help test like pto clutch circuits & some fuse & such circuits without having to reinitiate the circuit. Just a thought. might come in useful for testing mowers & such. Keep up the good work on plain, very informative & useful videos.

I’m not stupid but I can’t follow the wires around from switch to switch and keep up where current is supposed to be or where it should be going. You simply don’t have a problem with that and I’m sure you don’t see why anyone would have a problem understanding something that is like breathing to you. I’m just happy there are folks like you that mechanic on our motors. But thanks for thinking we know what you know and probably wonder why we don’t do our own problem solving with broken motors. That’s why a few people like yourself make $65 and hour plus parts to help us otherwise smart people keep our riding mowers riding. I’ll just stick to making an omelet taste good. Thank you for sharing your trade son and channel but somehow I don’t think you’ll be run out of the repair business anytime soon. Now, if you would like to learn how to build your very own impressed current catholic protection system to keep your rebar reinforced concrete piles under your dock and boat shed from ever cracking and corroding, I’m your man. Thank you very kindly.
