Thank you for explaining each tool then actually showing where your using it. This is my first car fix and I had to watch probably 10 videos before this to actually understand it
Thank you! Swapped out with new in about 30 mins. Have a great day.

This is the best replacement video for any car I have ever seen. Thank you so much for breaking everything down. Replaced my alternator with zero problems.
1/22/2022: Thank you. Alternator gave up the ghost on a snow day, on a freeway. And I'm from Florida. Baptism by fire. Got it hauled back. Your video is easy to understand. Thanks for the step by step. Here we go! Wish me luck.
Great job on the video,👍. Watched to see if there was anything crazy you had to do on the Tribeca, but as I was hoping and figured, it's straight forward. For a "non mechanically inclined" individual, this video is a great step by step "how to", "DIY", to refer to to learn how to maintain your vehicle. Good job bud, keep it up. Would like to get some advice on the front and rear differential maintenance and fluid replacement. Along with some other Tribeca knowledge. If possible please let me know. Thanks.
Where's your tip jar. You totally saved me from losing my mind.
I guess I need to set something up as I have had more and more people lately looking / wanting to do that. Is everything the same for the 2011 3.6R outback? From the video it appears that some things are in different positions or a little different design under the hood. Thanks for the video. Concise and easy to follow.
Video was helpful. Thanks

Would H6 radiator fit in the Impreza? And is the 2005 Tribeca alternator compatible with 2011 and vice versa? I'm trying to fit a more powerful alternator to my Forester, but I was told that Trebeca 130A fits the Forester/Impreza... so want to give it a try. I found a 2011 model, but the one fitted was from 2005, so I'm not sure if that would work. I suppose you've done loads of them and probably have a few lying around, any help will be appreciated. Also my current one is 2 pin (older model), so I need to fit the 3 pin one, but the 3rd pin is not needed I was told, so again I'm trying to figure out which pins goes where -) I know it can be done though.
Any tips on getting that 12 mm bolt (the one that is on the left side of the cover) off? Mine is ridiculously tight. Cant get much done without getting that bolt loose
You should be able to spray it with some sort of penetrating oil I like and have found Kroil to work the best -> amzn.to/2nX5aPX . Use the longest ratchet you have for the most leverage you can get if you still can't get it you can get a pipe just big enough to fit over the end of the ratchet and that will also give/ get you some more leverage to hopefully get it loose.
Hi, any differences if I put from 2.5 engine alternator?
You are a saint
Nice thanks i have a new belt to put on . I tried putting it over the alternator last wouldn't slide on . ill try it your way tomorrow

Assuming one has medium skill set how long should this take?
I would guess less then 30 min. Let me know how long it really takes you.
Well the missus and I did this together and not counting the fact that we have generally always owned and worked on SAE-tooled cars, we realized we needed to get 2 metric wrenches to get it done. Not counting these delays and a couple rusty bolts, I would say it took us about an hour if we were to do it again with the correct tools.
That's not bad.
Can you just put a 14 mm socket on the tensioner instead of using an offset wrench?
Do you. Have a repin video?
I do not have a video on that. They should have different colored strips on the wires. The one with the green stripe will be the one closest to the battery. The one with the red stripe will be the middle one and the last one I think its all black will be closest to the air box. They sell replacement plugs amzn.to/2RdVNHS I know you can get an OEM one on ebay without the wires. I also added a picture of the plug end to the write up on the website so you can double check the color of the wires. You can click the link in the video description and scroll to the bottom. You should also be able to click the picture to enlarge it. Hopefully that will help you get it back together.
Tools required?
The green plug. Won't come out. The spring trap part is broke ? What is this wiring harnesses call so i can replace it @the 4:30 mark
Sometimes they get stuck in there if the tab broke you should still be able to slide a screwdriver down inside and lift the tab so it will release. Alternator Plug Harness and it came right up.
@@TheDIYGuyDOTnet i did that but the plastic green part was broke apart like old plastic. But the wires are still intact
A lot of rust. Is it worth cleaning?
A lot of rust where?
Thank you so much! So helpful!
