Completely agree. The characters are all cool and unique with personality, but there's nothing really there holding it all together. Seems like the series isn't dead though, so maybe the next entry will have a bit more spice to it than just a great fighting system.
Goh's judo moves are really smooth in this game. Every character in this game can throw, but Goh's throws really feel so much closer to those we saw in Olympics
I think VF4 Evo was really the peak of the series. The playable characters are so distinct and still well balanced. Goh was very challenging to use but still I can see pro players able to compete using it.
Ok the 2001 got me really hard, cuz i totally swore this game was from mid 2000s just from the vibes and animation. Tekken 5 might have the best intro cinematic in gaming for me, but this is totally close on being just as iconic, stylish and cool (and i'm just getting into vf now and even though being a sega fanatic since childhood never gave 2 fucks about playing vf). Next VF def needs to have this level of love for it's characters and their charisma potential cuz now i totally find brad sick.
Evo: 2 new characters. existing characters had some move changes, half of Vanessa's moveset was removed and replaced, improved graphics, stages were changed, Kumite and AI modes removed, Quest mode added, more customisation items.

Virtua Fighter really needs a comeback. A VF game with character openings, rival scenes, and endings would be cool.
