It’s remarkable how little improvement has been made with her putt over the years. Literally just needs consistency within 20 feet and she would never lose.
52:13 not gonna lie this is probably my favorite moment of the whole celebration. Some may look at it like “but you just lost to her” but I think it’s just kinda beautiful.
Glad to see Eveliina bounce back from her putting woes. She would be winning but double digits if she was a consistent putter. Was wishing they would have played the other course for the last round to leave less to chance, and imo just a better course. Everyone has their opinion about this course... I feel it's just too gimmicky. Half-surprised they don't have to throw through a rotating windmill or something.
@@untrustworthyshelfing9953 I'm referring to her body of work this year. She's worked hard on her putt (I know it is still a work in progress, but it is much improved), and she's an elite thrower. Great attitude and a hard worker. She can proudly represent FPO as a world champ.
Regardless of results. I was rooting for Evelina. She was hanging in there despite her very lacking putting due to incredible play and consistency on every other part of the course! Where she shines, she truly is a one of a kind star player! 🌟
Yeahhh. Evelina had a positive attitude every time I saw her on coverage, so I'm glad she won for that alone, but the skills on display here were severely lacking. I mean the putting alone...
Disappointed with the talk about hole 14's green - Holyn threw a terrible shot to miss it on the first try, then threw a terrible shot to have it roll OB on the 2nd. Natalie completely airballed a 25 footer. Elevation on the green is one of the biggest factors that separate disc golf from golf, especially with putting. Disc golf, and FPO in particular, should be trying to push the boundaries of what the product currently is!
Couldn't agree more. The hole was played terribly. To just put all the blame on the course is irresponsible. The putt on 15 was bad too. Not saying the putter needed to roll away, but you gotta make that.
Yep. Everyone had to play the same hole, MPO included. They really needed to just accept responsibility for their play and appreciate a course that wasn’t 18 holes of flat 300 ft shots without any OB 🙄
I love it and wouldn't change a thing... If they do make a change, I hope its only to add a railroad tie along the length of the cart path to prevent huge roll aways.
You have to be kidding. I was surprised no one fell or turned an ankle on that. Pointlessly bad green - or more accurately, cliff. The course was challenging enough. The green was ridiculous and dangerous. I can't believe the course insurer/financial backer approved it.
I think 14s green would be okay, if it was wood chipped, the rocks add so much randomness, that being said the play seems to be to trust yourself to hit a 25 ft putt, and not go near the rocks
So happy for Evelina and just love how happy they all are for her. I'm teary eyed watching this a week later. Honk all the amazing people who worked such a labor of love to make this amazing tournament happen and for all the Jomez people who did such a masterful job sharing the experience. Honk all ya'll!
I'll still side with the commentators and other experienced top pros, thank you. When the best-of-the-best are struggling with that many rollaways, then it's not just a skill thing.
thanks 2hotgeese for the commentary throughout FPO worlds!! ive loved watching these! i definitely think this course has too many fluke elements, it doesnt seem appropriately designed. i would say it doesnt even make for a "fun" watch, even great shot shapes end up skipping or rolling a tiny bit out of bounds and it's not very satisfying as a viewer. i still had a great time watching the whole event with the commentary and the players' journeys! the standings definitely shocked me, congrats to eveliina! and shoutout to kat mertsch, she absolutely ruled and was so fun to watch!! and shoutout to natalie ryan for finishing in the top 5, a lot of the lines she took were really impressive and interesting!
Congratulations to Evelina! But man, this was tough to watch. This course has the potential for some really epic holes/rounds but it is way too difficult in its current form. Too much OB and not enough incentive to make the risky plays, makes for an uninspiring final round. I don't want to watch a war of attrition and who can fail the least. I want to see the winner grab the bull by the horns, not hang on for dear life.
Amazing coverage of this great event, thank you so much. I think it would be nice to have a teecard/overview for each hole for example when the drone flies over?
So happy for you, Eveliina! You deserved this and worked so hard for the title so long and now you are the world champion! Congratulations maailmanmestari!❤
My friends and I were able to scoop up a few VIP passes before they sold out and our first impression of Ivy Hill was like if the someone decided to just create absolutely absurd holes for the pros to struggle on. Completely bonkers. It was incredibly fun to watch, but we acknowledged that they were not very well designed from a player perspective. Was very much like the Disc Golf Valley mobile game.
I don't think people quite realize how steep a 45° slope is. It's more climbeable than it is walkeable. Over 42° is considered too steep for regulation stairs. Over 45-50° is where climbing safety equipment like lines is recommended.
Holy cow was Roll Away (ivy) Hill a terrible FPO course. The luck factor on many of the greens (and even some fairways) was just terrible. Even amongst roll aways, it was just dumb luck if it rolled OB or not. You don't need OB inside the circle on every single hole. Combine that with distances that just didn't suit enough of the FPO field and it was just terrible. I love Eveliina and she deserved the win but it says something when a bomber can miss like 20 putts inside 17 feet and still win. Too much advantage for the distance throwers. Sure, she had to stay between the lines, but that's easier to do when you can throw hyzers at everything and other players have to flex more understable discs to make landing zones. It would have been so much worse if the weather wasn't perfect.
man. so great to click the comments and see nothing but congrats for the new champ. would have been better if it wasnt on hole 10 seeing who won, lol. I know, I know, it already happened, but dammit. I was rooting for Kat. Congrats to Evelina!
Since the Geese asked, here are some honks: 1. Selling my investments in cheap white wooden stakes. Never want to see them again. 2. The top five finishers are ALL bombers. The best putter, World Number 2 Ohn, finished 20 strokes out. 3 There was WAY too much luck on this course. 4. Nate H. controls the game, awards himself majors and now he designs the course too?! Even though he admits he is no course designer. But this won't be 'the last straw'. Power is power and control is control.
If Evalina ever get that putt going.. at say KT level it will be hard for any other FPO player to match her. She is a better driver than several MPO players!
Jesus, that final lay up sums it up. Just sloppy plays from the FPO. What if it had started to roll down the hill for a long aproach, could have lead to a playoff.
Great finish for Evaliina, I may have been rooting for Kat but Evaliina kept the pressure on, great ending to worlds! Also with 14's green, yes it is flukey but between FPO and MPO there does seem to be a pretty safe spot above the basket, so I wouldn't say it is unfair MOST of the time, but it is definitely exciting to watch!
Might genuinely be the worst round of disc golf ever recorded, and that it's the Final round of the World Championship makes it all the more hilarious. I say this as someone who almost exclusively watches FPO.
14 = crappy but enternaining. I just don't like the high potential of falling and rolling ankles. Especially if its wet. Surprised no one threw scoobers or hammers.
This was a race to see who could loose the least. I don't think this was the greatest course for fpo. Still, congrats to Evalina and as always, thanks to the 2 hot geese and jomez. HONK!
Obviously I haven't played it but I enjoyed watching the women play this course. Sure it might have some more challenging holes that don't allow for a safe shot but that's where it gets exciting watching the women get aggressive and attacking the holes. It can really reward the women who have been able to practice those finesse shots
It was obvious from the very beginning that only a big arm was going to win this Event. Most of the field, like Ohn, never had a chance. Congrats to Evelina, but next time play courses that every FPO player has some kind of chance. The final round was terrible to determine a winner. Peace!
I love 14 the way it is. The hole can be played great, or poorly. It definitely requires the player to think. Great risk/reward hole, and adds some excitement.
Did you see what happened to the MPO? Niklas played it perfectly and got double punished. Isaac played it wrongly but got saved. It's a total fluke fest, all luck and barely any skill.
@@pwebb34 yes Nikolas got punished, but he took the risk. His second attempt stayed on the hillside. Issac’s stayed at the base of the basket. Calvin’s stayed as well. The rocks, and the steps helped them. Luke made the awesome birdie. It was fun watching him celebrate that birdie. It was exciting! If a disc never stayed on the hillside, I’d agree. But that’s not the case. Fluky? So what. The hole is meant to be compelling. If the hillside was softened, I think it would make the hole boring. Too easy. There’s room for conservative play around the basket if the player chooses. What about the par 3 over the water? More quirks in that hole than 14. But it’s a fun hole. there is risk and reward on it too. I think the whole course is great!
Got to defend hole 14 design. It’s amazing and in a crucial spot down the stretch. Makes it exciting to watch. There is nothing fluky about it. It is just an extremely tough and punishing green and I love that. The pro tour needs more green design like this. Make your putt or get punished! Control your up shot all the way to the ground, a skill not many disc golfers have ever even practiced. This green makes putting an even more demanding skill without have to change the baskets(which most are fine, a few exceptions). I want a T-shirt; ❤14 green!
I watched a bunch of shots stop on those rocks. Including Evalina's in this round. If you are telling me you think Evalina actually executed a good shot to stop where she did, I think you weren’t paying attention . All you have to do is arch her reaction after it stops to she she didn’t do what she was trying to. That’s the definition of fluky. It was relatively arbitrary whether a shot stopped or not if it wasn’t a perfect shot that came in and matched the slope above the basket where there was grass.
@@bensalemi7783I understand what you’re saying. What I don’t think I made clear is that that the objective of the hole is what I think is good for disc golf. you can’t trust the layup close to the basket the layup play is tough. If you want to park it everyone knows it’s risky. The play is to play to the bottom and force the pros to make the putt from the bottom of the hill. Force the pros to have to make putts is a good thing! Even if it’s really hard.
I realize you're not fans of the ball golf course for worlds. I couldn't disagree more on hole 12 though! Nobody is forcing the women to try to birdie that hole... You could disc down and take something slower and just hit the fairway...

Eveliina single handedly crushed and put to bed the old saying, "Drive for show, putt for dough."
