Its quite likely that delays to the major update are part of pushing back much of the bigger content drops this year BUT if you don't already know about what else is dropping this season, this is what will fill the gap. Some folks will point out that this is a recap, yet I still get a LOT of questions about what is coming next so this is for those who wanna know :P

We have never gotten an iron banner this late into a season, episode, or whatever they’re calling it now, since the game released. (so I feel like they’re gonna be) “we are reworking it” or “it’s canceled” for this season.
I haven’t got on D2 for that reason .. it’s been months… oh well.

At this point the silence from Bungie speaks more than they do and it doesn't do well for them, this could've all been avoided with article in the TWID explaining everything and confirming that Shadow & Order is being pushed back. Yet they continue to be quiet while the player numbers decline, thankfully there are other games to play while Bungie fumble around and such.
I think it has been handled poorly for sure. Hopefully we'll soon find out why!

Bungie deserves all the criticism because of all of their terrible management of the game.
Yes the game has lasted for a long time, but why has it lasted so long? Because they've had to "over deliver" with expansions like Forsaken and final shape.
But most of the time, bungie keeps making the same mistakes, anti-consumer practices, etc etc. And they will only change course when the player number is plummet.
And like everyone else is saying, Bungie isn't doing themselves any favors by just being quiet
Exactly… a simple “we are focusing on Marathon at the moment, Destiny won’t have anything major for awhile” article would have been fine…. Im sure everyone would have been a little annoyed there isn’t content but understandable…. Even if they just give us random filler content but not a DLC while they focus on Marathons launch, people would be fine.

We need activity specific loot, remember those Psion drope we got from the Strike on Mars in D1.
yea especially since rather than strike specific tiered armor it could just be guns or transmog ornaments. That seems easy to do in all but the whole skeleton key system.
I had all three psion flair clokes. They were my favorite fashion choice in D1.

The funny thing about this is that even if you could get all three rather quick, there was a fun aspect to it and steps to follow. It wasn't just a direct drop.
On its way out....it just ain't the same...it can't ever regain that feeling of days gone by...it's just gone...
The truth is that Bungie probably doesn't have the staff to make two games, so they must have kept the minimum number of people working on Destiny 2, halting everything related to it. I wouldn't be surprised if the content is delayed until at least the second half of 2026 or, in the worst-case scenario, 2027 so that support for Marathon can meet expectations.
If that were the case then Sony would step in and have another studio handle Destiny
@thenedsmmachannel8970 What do you think is going to happen if Marathon doesn't do well long-term? Parts of Bungie are already being absorbed into Sony Entertainment. And mind you, there were massive layoffs despite the success of Final Shape. At this point, the amount of $$$$ needed from Marathon is probably astronomical.

I want more chase items. Shiny weapons are cool, but itd be much more interesting if there were a rare chance for unexpected reprised tiered weapons as well in all activities except raid and dungeons.
100% agree! Its raining loot right now, which is good in a sense BUT the chase suffers a lot. Loads of opportunities to add cool rare drops as you say, even praxic blade crystals show how they could do juicier weapon cosmetics as part of the chase!

I really miss the old seasons, I mean the fact that the portal system really messed it up. There is no story content every week, there is just nothing. It’s boring
I'd really like Bungie to bring red border weapons for the moon, europa etc. I dont really play renegades much, been playing the dungeons with my clan mates, I'd like to see sundred doctrine to drop red borders too, as well as the old dungeons to make it worth playing them
Red borders grind was insanely satisfying but now with tiered weapons I don’t see a reason why would they make it return. You mentioned old expansion gear and I kinda agree. I’d really like to see them tiered and I wish they actually mattered in meta. I feel like they’re forgotten and that’s shame because they were so good back in the days
Isn't it ironic that we were given power chasing activities and now alot of us have been 550 there's literally no content 😂 they should have never added tier 5 weapons without revamping the entire weapon catalogue from raids/dungeons etc
In addition to this it should have more stuff to do that is fun and not a punishment to play.

lol, I still ain’t at the power cap cause I basically quit and haven’t played since ash and iron. Though I wanna get reinvested, renegades just didn’t do it for me
Edge of Fate didnt do it for me, I hopped on for Ash and Iron and I only played the day it dropped. I did pick it up with Renegades and I actually had alot of fun but again I liked the star wars theme and the blaster weapons were a nice change in gameplay that made it feel more fresh vs EOF and AAI
Il admit the temu star wars plot is trash, however the gear and weapons are nice to use.
I didn't realise how much I'd stepped back until the delay to the be expansion was discovered. I haven't even completed Praxic because I'm sick of seeing sabres everywhere and it who get nerfed soon I think, but there's plenty of time, I guess 🙄
You’re probably the only person that complains about the praxic blade. That’s a first for me
One of the things that I would like to see at least is a game mode similar to the Black Armory modes. It was one of my most favorite seasons since you can grind for one weapon of your choice and hope you can get the god role you want
Updating old raid and dungeon weapons to tier system would be nice.
You know what I really want to see added to the game? A weapon re-roll mechanic. Either a cheap version that re-rolls every perk and the masterwork on a weapon, or a more expensive, limited version where you can reroll a perk or masterwork a couple times before being locked out. Masterworking should act as a sort of "lock in" for whatever is currently on the weapon too, so once its been masterworked you cant change it anymore
One thing that gets me or annoys my OCD in the accommodation menu that most of the time they don't have the weapon model for the one your running in your primary so they put a generic gun model for your character to have , why don't they have your emote on the accommodation menu , use the top one that they show in trials or what not just a thought
Honestly think the light level grind has drastically improved since the days of forsaken even new players. I party up with all the time feel the same way

I think it's taking a while for Iron Banner because a while back before Renegades they were talking about reworks to Gambit & tweaks to Iron Banana. Might be it or there are many tweaks to Shadow & Order & events that follow to make it pop. Could be reaching with alligator arms or could be correct. Have to see. To be continued....
I'm hoping you are right with more people branching back to destiny. Hopefully that will speed things up where we will at least get some kind of official info. I'm in the same boat as you with it being harder to defend everything. And it sucks since destiny has always been my go to game even if I take a break here and there. Now I may check the store on reset then hop back off. And it's unfortunate.
Is like arms week to be used as a way yo ease older weapons into the their system. They definitely missed the opportunity for bow week.
Also make it so the t5 themed weapon can have a chance to drop with that weeks specific mods permanently.

It would be great if they did something like "Season of the lockdown" (Covid days) when we could keep adding to the artifact elements that we could have active. Not capped at the 12 unlocks that we have now.
At this Bungie really need to look at ways to keep us engaged not just bringing something out and handing us the goods without any effort we need just reason to keep coming back each week

Ive been with bungie since halo 3, im sadly going to say im going to finish up the season pass then im stoping my support for bungie right after, this being distant and giving the cold shoulder to the destiny community is what killed it for me. Going to focus other games with multiplayer like mass effect Andromeda, 3, arcraiders, phas, or so on.

I’m gave up on getting the red and taken crystals after weeks of the dungeon and invasions. I have got every upgrade for the Praxic blade.. and only misses two crystals.
I’m never playing Marathon and my D2 play has dropped significantly.
For the invasions you don’t have to get kills or anything really. I got mine in an invasion that me and the other person just emoted for 5 minutes. So if you wanna speed it up just launch it then jump off the map.
Rather than Raids / Dungeons, what about new Strikes, this makes more sense, surely?

Take back old raid armor via an raid vendor or as some kind of second armor reward from dunguens like with the trails of the nine sets. Feels really dumb to just completely erase gear from a game in my opinion same with old raid shaders

I've seen this before with EPIC Games and a great game called "PARAGON". They gave this same speech and then literally came back from Christmas break and they shut the game down. I'm getting those same vibes from this type of post.
I would love to see more craft able weapons and more sources of deep sight harmonizers as well as see pets that can fight alongside us and maybe revive us once or twice in darkness zones and also I would love to actually have more usability for our ships and sparrows the did well with the gryfon I hope the ad more exotic sparrows like that to the game and as go ship usability well just let us use the renegade ability’s in non pvp game modes it’s not to hard I would think because you literally just press a button to switch to your renegade ability’s and the spider in mission do say he installed it on to our ships
I Definitely do not want pets or sidekicks in the game, that’s what playing with other people is for….Pets, No thanks. I would on the other hand like the return of the warlock self resurrection ability to return from D1. It should have never been removed from the warlock super abilities to begin with.
@NamelessMessenger4547when I am talking about pets or mean along the vain of archi the robo dog where everyone starts with a base model the can choose eg dog or cat or bird and each has there own unique ability and we the player can play activities to unlock parts of them like a stasis mortar or a other element of mortar or even a recon puls to help you find things that are hidden and there would be exotic parts you could equip and a separate weapon system for them
I had a dream i reinstalled Destiny 2 b/c they added SRL to the Guardian Games.
Forsaken is the last expansion that Bungie actively promoted. After that it was complete silence until the day of a new yearly release which is the dumbest thing to do when you’re trying to get people to play your game. Now Bungie is in flux where they’re trying to promote a new game no one asked for while neglecting the game that people actually want to play. Just seems like their only plan is to fail so Sony can dissolve the studio down to a name only and those in charge at Bungie can get their fat buyouts.

Get rid of the portal. And reorganize missions, strikes, 6 player modes, and unfxck the Horde Modes including removing the revive tokens and restoring the playlist rotators and maps.
I wont even consider going back to destiny until I cant turn my godroll shiny recluse into the tiered system.
In the past year we got a new raid, a new dungeon, Lawless Frontier, multiple exotic missions, the introduction of armor set bonuses, over 100 new weapons and a dozen exotics, the story moved forward a lot with big plot beats with The Nine and Dredgen Bale, and so many live events with brand new weapon mods and portal modifiers. I truly don't understand the complaints of no content.
I think those complaints will always be highlighted, main thing were really wanting is a roadmap and the darkness foundry update, at least for me anyway

Absolutely, we've had a bunch of stuff! I think lack of comms and the fixation on the roadmap leads to more frustration. We're at a different stage in the lifecycle too!
@engineer-1985we just got Renegades a few months ago why do you need more now? You can't play a roadmap. Just enjoy what we have, when the new updates are ready to release enjoy them then. A JPEG won't make the game more fun.

Love the game, played for years no problem, then Edge of Fate dropped and now all I get is Weasel Error all the time. Get to play 10 to 20 minutes then get weasel error. Nothing wrong on my side, so what happened.??

There needs to be a REAL shieldgate in destiny 2 not just a “fall damage/ architect damage” shield gate because if you knick a corner the wrong way you loose all shield and are left with one shot health were an ad only has to graze you and you instantly die. If all shields instantly vanish from fall of architects you should be unable to take damage again until your shields are at LEAST half way recharged. Why is game dying?!! Because game is too fucking punishing for no valid fucking reason.

It’s 100% true that the roadmap is not a thing because they are uncertain of the future or they have no clue how much resources will be allocated to Destiny.
At this point, it really feels like they’re ok if it kind of fizzles out. They’re holding off on iron banner because they need content for when they delay the update. I haven’t been bitter…I’m pretty over their shit now tho.

Nuclear take, I think the portal is a fantastic idea but they went super lazy with what they added into it. Bite sized pieces of old content should be a part of it I commend that, but the fact that it’s practically the ONLY thing in the portal is what sucks, there should be more varied pieces of content in it besides slightly longer lost sectors and old seasonal content

I don't want them to get rid of the power climb i want them to make it of relevant instead of an after thought I don't want things tied to the difficulty of the activity I am playing d2 and d1 have always been about the power climb and I love it this new d2 makes me think they are trying to kill the game on purpose so everyone that is playing d2 will go to marathon
The only reason it exists is to time gate teired gear behind an arbitrary number.
You need to hit "X" score threshold to get "X" teir and you need this specific power level to unlock the difficulty to do it.
Honestly, I miss over leveling fo those endgame activities.
I know it’s not likely but bungie may not have said anything because ain’t goin to be delayed(wishful thinking). They haven’t confirmed anything about anything thus far.

*REALLY* hating these week long recurring events with 1 good weapon and then 10 other pieces of garbage to make the whole thing last longer cause of RNG. It was fine for 1 3 month stretch. Now it's just "boring, tedious metric oriented game design". "Bungie style game design" will soon be how the entire industry refers to basing every single component of your game on shitty metrics soon enough.

They're not moving it back for any other reason than their new baby needs all hands on deck. Marathon 1st, Destiny last is the new bungie motto. 2 seconds of time is all they need to spare to just tell us it's been delayed until whenever.
Sounds radical but I’d like Bungie to delete all our exotic weapons and have us regain them again either through world drops or various quests. Legendary weapons are so strong now anyway it would be exciting to get exotic drops with fresh traits.
It's unlikely Bungie releases Guardian Games on the same day Marathon releases. Bungie/Sony wants "0" distractions.
As someone who's a D1 Vet... the biggest thing they need to fix is the new player experience. They need to have a team dedicated to creating a 40+ hour long LINEAR story. Where players can be caught up lore wise through all of d1 and up to the red war. New players can't get invested as they are jumping in without any context. They don't have to replay all the old missions, they should do a mission or 2 for each significant milestone and then fill the rest in with narration and cinematics.... they should also unvault all older content (no other game removes content from their game - if it's a storage problem, then give players the option to download specific content and not others (I.e. like COD did)). Then add that unvaulted content to the timeline so new players can continue their narative journey (but open it up so it doesn't have to be linear anymore).
Finally for the rest of us. If they just updated the old raids with T5 with raid specific 2 and 4 piece sets and T5 weapons. That would keep the community busy for at least 6 months
Bruh, most new players have never completed a season pass before it expired. Give us a break. Glad I can finally catch up on YEARS of content I have never even seen because I had to spend all my play time on seasonal stuff that expires. If there was no more seasonal content, I'd be happy.
If we are getting less content id love the content to be less expensive. Not happening though
I really can’t play destiny 2 … I tried but my love for the game has died. I even tried to go back to destiny and play a raid or strikes and it’s hard to find anyone and any fun from playing destiny . It’s sad bkuz I used to play d2 on a regular but it died to me . It’s probably going to take killing the game and starting from scratch again and I can’t see that happening or even bringing back the player base they lost. I would never sit here and talk bad about the players still playing bkuz you all might still see fun in the game but I will still support houndish by watching his vids to see what new and see what happening
they need too stop working on the portal its in a usable spot. They really need to concentrate on new content.
Before Shadow & Order releases, I'd really like Bungie to address the long term roadmap for the final life cycle of Destiny 2. We all know it's the beginning of the end. They just need to rip the band aid off and be honest with us. It's unfair of them to lead us on and make promises they can't keep for money reasons. Quite simply put, all it does is leaves this fanbase that kept them afloat for years feeling taken advantage of and over time it's the reason why they've lost so much goodwill.
Fix the core aspects of the game, give the vets a healthy gameplay loop, add in as much old/seasonal content as you've taken away, and focus on D3.
Oh God Guardian 'Rigged' Games coming soon you have the three factions now so why don't they just drop Guardian Games and replace it with Faction Rally like in D1
