    • @bb8518
      @bb8518 Год назад +2

      If he had a dog and it bit him, would you be so charmed by it? Cats are frequently assholes because they can get away with it. They CAN be trained, but most cat owners just let them do whatever the hell they want. I'm not saying they should be like dogs, but they can definitely learn that bad behavior has consequences. Put them in a crate for 20 minutes when they bite or scratch you. Most cats hate that. Or, if they are really being aggressive, hold them by the scruff. Mother cats do that to their kittens so it won't hurt unless the cat is overweight. Kind of ranting here, but I'm so sick of people acting like their cats being little shits is somehow fine.

      @@bb8518 And dogs frequently behave badly, rushing and jumping on people, barking at other dogs or running after cyclists, or howling in the middle of the night when you're trying to sleep. And yes, Princess's mama finds it incredibly charming when her Chihuahua snarls at you like a psycho. Owners are responsible for their pets' behaviors, and finding the right way to train and discipline their pets. There are plenty of bad owners for any pet out there though. Besides it's not as if anyone but Daniel got hurt in the making of this video.
      Edit: and he did say right afterwards, "you've never done that before" to the cat.

    Ah yes, "lay" vs "lie", the two words I always have to look up when I go to write them. Lie is intransitive (I lie down), and lay is transitive (I lay the book down). The fun part, though, is when you put them in past tense. The past tense of lay is laid, but the past tense of lie is *lay* (no relation to the transitive present tense lay). So "I lay down" is *also* correct; you're just using "lie" in the past tense. Then you have the past participles: lay is still laid, and lie is lain. Fun stuff.

      Everyone does this to some extent, it's called... I forget the thing that it is called, but it's a thing that is studied in linguistics and sociology. People adapt their behaviours to their environment in order to show affinity with others around themselves. Also - and this is the _really_ fun one - they can do the opposite, and act more _unlike_ other members of a group in order to distance themselves from them. I've seen it demonstrated with spoken dialect samples (this is part of the reason why people's accents can 'get stronger' or 'weaken' - actually they just shift from one pattern to another - when talking with different people), since voice can be recorded and analysed fairly easily these days (really since about the '70s), but it's supposed to happen with other things as well.

    to be fair. we ALL adapt our speech patterns and our mannerisms to how we think certain friends will like and accept us more. but it doesn't mean that you "act" your other personas. it's just that all of them are you and you are expressing your different layers of *you* around everyone. it's not a bad thing. we humans are complex creatures who are manifold.
    i actually struggled a long time about feeling as if i didn't know who i truly am bc i can act so very differently around different kind of people until i came to this conclusion. the me who laughs at fart-jokes, dark jokes and memes and the me who reads classic literature and loves musicals and operas are all me.
    as long as you don't feel exhausted acting a certain way around someone, you can be sure that this is you as well. don't fret.

    • @bringmethatcoffee5235
      @bringmethatcoffee5235 2 года назад +14

      @@candyman9635 i'd say that means the person itself is exhausting you. doesn't need to mean that you don't like the person, but you never have the capacity to be around and active around someone ALL the time. i have a friend who is really cool and sweet, but heck, he can be pretty demanding (concerning attention - we play videogames together) and thanks to him i've learned to say no better, lol. just be kind. i told him that i'd rather not talk or play videogames all day. it leaves me unsatisfied with my day.
      also. could be that you're an introvert. introvert ppl recharge their batteries when they are alone and do their hobbies (which usually include only themselves, like reading, drawing, writing, et cetera. creative hobbies mainly).
      the person you spoke of might be someone who just naturally drains your energy. or they might be an extrovert. they recharge their energy while doing sth with other ppl. many ppl get these characteristics wrong.
      oooor. the person pressures you to behave in a certain way bc they feel that you *should* be like that. like a parent who doesn't allow you to be goofy bc it is "improper" - like my mother did. constantly feeling as if a part of you is being rejected makes you feel anxious and on egde.
      but alas. these are just my two cents. better speak to a professional. hope you feel more at ease soon! i'll cheer for you.

    You know, this is oddly something we could pay more attention to- Cuz sometimes friends will act differently around others because they're either
    A. Closer
    B. More comfortable around them
    C. all of the above
    And you don't see this behavior around you because they could not feel comfortable around you or not feel close enough to act like themselves or fully themselves.
    Its kinda like the whole best friend vs friend situation. If my best friend falls on her ass, ima laugh my ass off then help her up. If my friend falls on her ass, ima immediately help her up and ask if she is ok. Big difference.

    No joke, this is exactly how neurodiverse social camouflaging feels when you've been tuning your personality and behaviour to match the person you're with and end up in a new scenario interacting with multiple of those people at the same time and place. At the end of it, you feel like you don't know who you really are and like you're a manipulative fraud.
