    Been using this for a week or so now and love it.
    I generally run Paizo APs, and i'm re-creating the APs maps in Dungeon Alchemist, because its faster to do that then to try to fit the existing map into roll20 and then do all the dynamic lighitng. :D

    • @NickOlivo
      @NickOlivo  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, having the ability to automatically do the dynamic lighting is huge. I love DA. Happy gaming!

    I will say that the 300 dpi quality setting can make maps to big to load into Roll20. I tried it with a 50x50 outdoor setting, and the file was 30 mb. Roll20's limit is 10 mb, so something to keep in mind.

    • @binnieb173

      Could you break that up and import it into quarters?

    • @DeeperWithDiego
      @DeeperWithDiego 2 года назад +1

      Can you save it with less DPI?

    • @polyarny3450
      @polyarny3450 2 года назад

      Save/import with less DPI certainly is possible, and is eventually what I did, and it seemed to work fine. As for breaking it up, I'm not sure if that would work, since DA also imports lighting, sizing and other info. I guess if you wanted to forgo using that feature it would probably work.

      @h311zwh0r3aolcom 2 года назад

      @@polyarny3450 use pine tools image splitter to make appropriately sized pieces. Use gimp to make a very low quality version of your DA map. Upload low quality map, size it correctly, apply dynamic lights to it, then delete map. Dynamic lights will be saved to DL layer. Now upload the pieces of your High Quality map, put them together on the map layer, bingo bango, you're done!

    Awesome video Nick, I love the 3d handout idea.

    Do they have handles for the doors? As I understand it the doors in Roll20 can be difficult to use without "handles" / a small extra part to select and manipulate the door with.

    • @NickOlivo
      @NickOlivo  2 года назад

      Hi Warren - I haven't had any issue with grabbing the doors. If you have a Pro account, check out the Doorknocker API, it makes working with doors really easy m.ruclips.net/video/hpR3PHu__jI/видео.html Thanks for watching, and happy gaming!

    Does anyone happen to know if you need a Pro subscription to import the map if you don’t care about auto importing the dynamic lighting?

    • @NickOlivo
      @NickOlivo  Год назад +1

      If you just want to upload the map you've created in Dungeon Alchemist, then no, you don't need the Pro account. You'd export the map as an image, and then you could upload it into Roll20 as you would any other image. You'd need to set the dimensions and all that jazz by hand, but the API is really just there to recreate the dynamic lighting.

    • @NickOlivo
      @NickOlivo  2 месяца назад +1

      Glad you liked the vid! The import tool doesn't support flickering lights. While I haven't tried this myself, it is possible to achieve a similar effect using Timmaugh's meta-scripts. Holy crap! DA is setting a new bar for mapmaking software and VTT integration. It's a bit pricey on Steam but honestly looks to be worth every cent. I really hope they start adding in additional tilesets and themes -- once we get modern and futuristic I'm gonna be one happy GM!!!

      By cavernous, do you mean really big? If so, yes, you can have maps that are 50x50 (or bigger) if you want. If you mean if there's like a cave terrain, not yet, but they are adding more and more terrains to the product, and caves might be one of them

      If you look search here in RUclips, someone did a cave map by making flat grassland, changing the grass to stone, then using the elevation controls to make walls.
