When you're diving and on the attack it's technically more risky. You could be put into a rock, next to an alliance, etc. At least when you wait for an opponent you can be ready. It's easier to set traps that way.
Being a defender is better if you're very careful and all you're doing is waiting, but if you defend, you can't really leave your ship at all else you'll have a striking disadvantage. And being an attacker obviously would be designed to prevent you from spawning anywhere other than open sea.
I also find that the people that are very good at the game are smart and they defend so they can say traps and stuff, and also get loot from world events etc. so that leaves most of the less skilled players attacking thinking they got it in the bag
The worst part being a slow Sloop is constantly running into players that don't have supplies so they run and try to board the whole time. Have had multiple battles lasting longer than 30 mins!
Same, 3 battles lasted over an hour a piece because people kept trying to board from the other sloop instead of fighting. One ship did that so much that their ship went out of bounds and they lost.. lol
@@itagamineko so if you vote to fight on the side of guardians of fortune you should raise an Athena emmisary flag, as winning gives you a level 3 flag and winning twice gives you a level 5. I wish I could do that but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to due to the fact of having no one good to play with. I hardly play by myself because it’s not fun unless you’re with someone.

Tip: if you suck at pvp like me, you earn rep even when you lose, it'll just take you a while to get anything (It took me like 4 hours to win my first fight yesterday lmao)
Fastest way get a gally with a decent crew, get supplies, put the hourglass down and the flag then just go for it till you sink or if u wanna play carful vote them both down after you get to a level 4 streak.

At about 3:25 you say about other crew having treasure. Noone ever has treasure it’s either a worthless grade 1 flag or you spawn on some poor soul at an outpost whos just voted without releasing
Defending feels more advantage . The amount of times I’ve risen up and the other crew is already turned to start circling while I’ve been unable to move is annoying
My opinion of the pvp is kinda mixed. I only fought 1 pvp battle before the update in all 160hrs of gameplay but this update definetley changed that. From today I got up to lvl 4 and so far I fought 5 battles (won 2, lost 2, drew 1 (both died but I sunk after so I kinda got the win but lost the streak)) and I have quite the few things to say. So I will make a list here: - I still see people running away alot just in the ring. I would say only about 10-20% of my pvp sessions were shooting at the enemy and the other 80% was repairing, steering and bucketing so it didn't really feel like intense combat. Because of this it isn't as fun as I thought it would have been. - Locking heavily desired items such as the Ghost curse and the skeleton curse behind pvp is very daring from Rare in my opinion. It is essentially telling PvE players that they can't play the way they want if they want the curses (just cashing out with loot trove doesn't give much compared to combat) which kinda sucks imo. I get Rare needs to give an incentive but this seems like too much of one. - There is no timer to the battles which seems like a major component missing as one of my 2 losses ended up with both ships running out of cannonballs so we just sat their boarding eachother until I had to leave and DC'd. I sat there for a good 10 minutes by the way and by that point the game should just sink both ships. It would be a good incentive to sink the other ship fast and would also solve the issue of pirates avoiding conflict. It would also be useful because I saw someone say they were in battle for 45 MINUTES to sink the enemy ship. By that point the allegiance is not worth it at all. - My last point is that 100 tiers to me seems like an astronomical number. And to push it 10x more for the golden athenas blessing. I get that having a 4 streak or plenty of loot on board would make this seem much more dooable but for the average joe who isn't too well versed in pvp I think that is a very tall order. We are literally doing 66% of the work of Pirate Legend again. Feels kinda annoying that Rare gave us such a grind. And if you want to do both factions to get both curses, THATS 200 LEVELS YOU NEED. I have kinda accepted that I am not getting both curses and I am still debating if its possible to get even one. Well those are my thoughts. I know I am probably in a minority with these opinions but hey, it is what it is. I feel like once SBM pushes the good pvp'ers further away from me, I can have a little more fun with the new update and definetly have more fun if they solve people running away and making the engagement less fun.
Nothing to add, well explained. There‘s so much wrong with this and as a more pve focused player I feel so fucked by Rare to put it blindly. Seriously considering qutting the game for good.
@@Jetsugai The thing is, to me SoT is a PVE open world WITH PVP elements not the other way round. Also this being such an essential upgrade to the game and then basicaly leaving the majority of players out (I understand you like PVP but most of us don't or at least don't wanna do it all the time) isn't a wise move from Rare. Also my issue is the whole grind factor. There's simply no other way than doing this ship PVP and then they didn't even add a time plus yesterday we fought a sloop which then escaped to an outpost to resupply - wtf?! Make the area smaller, add a 20min timeout and make visiting islands/outpost an immediate lose and we can at least talk. RN there's just too much wrong with the whole update.
@@Mutio86 First off, I'm only talking about the curses which are supposed to be a hard grind. And no, it is both PvP and PvE at the same time, it just uses a lot more resources to make PvE content as they have to make new islands, cinematics, characters, etc., Making PvE seem much larger. I also never said I liked PvP. Also "Essential upgrades" doesn't include curses. Essential upgrades are when you can be the actual captain of the ship and own the boat with a name and pre loaded cosmetics, when you can re-bury your loot for you or another crew to retrieve later, making storage crates much easier to store and transfer with, and adding back a way to find other PvP players quickly.
@@Mutio86 also there's not too much need for the timer as it is still very possible to just spawn camp them like 2-3 times and steer their ship out of the ring while they're dead. Though it would still be nice to have, it isn't necessary and if you let them sit at an island for minutes and you weren't striking their ship at all, it sounds like you should've been. Because a resupplying ship is a vulnerable one. If they're getting attacked they have to choose between resupplying and protecting/sailing the ship
The multiplier only goes up as you sink enemy ships. A streak can go as long as you don't lose, but the bonus/multiplier caps at 4. At that point, if you want to grind Allegiance levels, I would go to an Outpost and vote the hourglass down. Otherwise you're just risking losing your multiplier.
@@ArlenDueck I'm unsure what you're asking at this point. If you're asking if you can do the pvp without turning on the hourglass, no. You must turn the hourglass on to play the new PvP and get streaks etc
@@touchofoblivion6186 you know how you get allegiance when you sink a ship and allegiance when you turn in the hourglass? I'm asking if the sink streak multiplier is only applied to the allegiance you get when you turn in the hourglass or if it also multiplies the allegiance you get when you sink boats while on a streak
If only I wasn't waiting 45 minutes plus to get matches. Recently a friend and I spent like two hours queueing, fought three battles, but only two ships anyways (yes we fought the same one twice, damnit). So profoundly frustrating. Really souring the season for me.

Quick question ( I can’t find a answer online) when you get a level does it save. For example image you had gain 5 levels does the level go away after you quit , sell or sink, or is it permanent?
Now's your chance to improve! Because of the ranking system, after a bit of playing it'll pit you up against people around your skill level, making it real easy to practice :)
I can't do anything I'm already bad at PvP in this game and when I try it I get spammed with cannonballs and all I can do is repair and if they get on my ship I can't do anything it's impossible for me to improve or get better
Hello! I am a little late, but how long will these new factions be up? Just this season? I'd like the new curses, but I'm not sure how long each day I can commit to it! Thank you!
I've spent so many years now looking through the peep hole of that door knowing deep inside there was a way in there.. guess I'm putting a few hundred more hours into sea of thieves 😂
I have not yet had a chance to give the new season a go, the motherboard died in my computer and its still at the repair shop, but for someone who sucks at PvP, like myself, can you still earn the faction points if you lose a PvP match, or do you only get them if you win?
Just coming back to the game after about 2 years, Im not a huge pvp guy and my athena is 20, which im happy with. Should i bother going for Guardian 100 for the blessing?
I have a question regarding the treasure system. Maybe someone can help me out ✌😅 I had different types of treasure on board befor the fight (like 10 merchant boxes and a few smaller items). I was the attacker and spawned infront of the other ship. But all my treasure was gone when I came out of the water. I won the fight but my treasure never came back. So I'm just wondering,... is that normal? Was the value just added to my hourglas or something? Any help would be great 🙂
Let’s say if you were solo slopping and looking for ships a to fight, will it give you another solo sloop or could it be duo or solo? Same with other ships too 🤔
for those who came here to know the fastest way to get 100 level its simple in theory. 1. get an alliance with some ships the more the better (everyone on the same side but remember, death to the reapers!) 2. active checkpoint from the last tale from pirets life to have infinite amount of resources 3. hang arround with your alliance crew near tale point and wait for the battle the more ships the more frequently u will have battle 4. and now important part no matter who sunk the ship everyone will get a streak only if u hit them once with cannon ball *let the reapers pay for they crimes
where are you getting the supplies from? is it the final chapter of pirates life tall tale or the final chapter of the final tall tale in that collection?
@@vincenzobrancato8273 iam not sure it is finall chapter but it is one of those when u have to enter to the spire but u dont need to..(and yes last tale from pirets life tales so its gonna be 5th) then Pendragon and all his crew rise up from the water to save you and help defeat Davy Jones and destroy every ghost ship on the horizon in heroic battle...but screw it lets kill him....DEATH TO THE REAPERS!

This is what I did. I went from level 16-105 over the one double xp weekend. Never touching hourglass again. Hope this helps those like me who prefer the occasional fight in adventure where you can do more fun and interesting strats rather then just circle and shoot. Also more fun when theres loot or a world event to fight over
Thanks so much I'm bad at PvP but used this strat went from 0-36 in 2 weeks which isn't alot but good for me I'm just waiting for the next community weekend or gold and glory
@@thrice33 you'll get there mate, once you get your curse you can stop and be free if thats what you want :)
@@ShmickoGaming yeah I'm going to try get to 105 so I can get the legends curse aswell but once I get there I'll probably stop doing HG
thank you man, I wanna get the skeleton curse but I’ve decided the ghost curse is easier to get and tbh looks cooler with the customizations
will you get dived on if you're parked near an island off your boat? what are the limits to getting matchmade on?
Yes. If your pvp flag is up, you're fair game. Players are saying they're getting invaded while at outposts, even.
@@Rhyza13 No duh, it's gonna always be active if you're opt'd in. Not sure how people are surprised by that. There's open water everywhere.
@@PepicWalrus I was chilling inside smugglers bay restocking supplies for like 15 min and no one attacked. Might be a safe spot there.
I just loaded into my first match after posting this and attacked somebody at an outpost just loading up, he just instantly left since i was jjst unloading into him and he had no chance
@@airplanefood3576 once you get invaded you cant get invaded again for at least 15 minutes so maybe thats why
at 0:08, what is the hull name on the left ship?
The pain I have with this
I would love the ghost curse
And I'm determined
But my PVP is terrible
And my ping/latency makes me get sent really deep Into the water
And I mean really deep making it nearly impossibly to survive
Oh and I'm soloing becuase i got no friends who are good or equally determined
Oftenly becoming unmotivated after a single loss
So I'm going to love losing over and over again
I’m in the same situation with soloing. I don’t have any friends that want to play it either. I’m determined to get the curse as well. PvP isn’t a problem for me but having a crew member is easier. If you play on Xbox. I’ll gladly help you.
@@ScarletFever731 Could need some help for PvP too... xD
Hmm, I feel like I have heard that before, just with a different video title 🤔
Any tips on dealing with pvp if you aren’t that good. I’m pretty bad at pvp and I ended up only at lvl 12 on the second day after a while of battling due to sinking and such
Avoid allowing boarders until you know how to deal with them
respect the only creator who didnt spoil it
?
Anyone else came across the shores of gold exploit? Literally champion reaper hiding behind the blood sea
Do you have to be pirate legend to inlcok the the ghost curse of no
Yes you do
Quick question ( I can’t find a answer online) when you get a level does it save. For example image you had gain 5 levels does the level go away after you quit , sell or sink, or is it permanent?
It’s permanent
It's not "fastest" you're basically telling us to just play the game and be patient lol.
How fast will it be to get to level 100? Will it be a really hard grind or do you get a level every ship you sink
I've sank about 15 ships so far and I'm 14 in reapers and 8 in athena so it is more than a level per sink, atleast at first
at first its 2 per sink
Well, considering that the gold version of the blessing requires you to reach lvl 1000 in the guardians, it cant be THAT hard.
240 ships sunk will get you 100
@@BigBudzGaming ah nice.Hint to arena... possibly? xD
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for not spoiling what happens
So basically you need to be pirate legend and just sink ships on the opposite side of the war ?
HAHAHAHAHAH
Wait I haven't played for a while is this lasting for ever or limited time?
rn it’s forever
There is one problem i suck at pvp. Iam only good with cannons so iam only able to destroy someone when they dont board my ship
So be on a galley or a brig
Now's your chance to improve! Because of the ranking system, after a bit of playing it'll pit you up against people around your skill level, making it real easy to practice :)
I can't do anything I'm already bad at PvP in this game and when I try it I get spammed with cannonballs and all I can do is repair and if they get on my ship I can't do anything it's impossible for me to improve or get better
Does this have the exact script as the skele curse one
Hello! I am a little late, but how long will these new factions be up? Just this season? I'd like the new curses, but I'm not sure how long each day I can commit to it! Thank you!
ok
good video, next one with lvl 1000 :D
how do supplies and loot work in this mode? do we get new / more supplies or do we go with what we have
You don’t get given any supplies u have to get it your self👍
I've spent so many years now looking through the peep hole of that door knowing deep inside there was a way in there.. guess I'm putting a few hundred more hours into sea of thieves 😂
Fastest way to progress was to play the game?
I have not yet had a chance to give the new season a go, the motherboard died in my computer and its still at the repair shop, but for someone who sucks at PvP, like myself, can you still earn the faction points if you lose a PvP match, or do you only get them if you win?
Yes either your lose..still can gain
what is the new athena music called?
Just coming back to the game after about 2 years, Im not a huge pvp guy and my athena is 20, which im happy with. Should i bother going for Guardian 100 for the blessing?
Could have sworn my game said I had to be allegiance level 1000 to get the curse, seemed excessive lol
Does anyone know the name of the font of the thumbnail?
Maybe get the curse before making the video, *ghost* admiral
sucks that you can't turn in athena flags though. those only are taken by the reapers... so honorable fights with flags aren't as great
Just lowered our Athena after three streak at lv 6 already
Allegiance or Athena rep? Allegiance goes up to 1000
Get good and risk it for the biscuit, aye...will do Admiral!
I have a question regarding the treasure system. Maybe someone can help me out ✌😅
I had different types of treasure on board befor the fight (like 10 merchant boxes and a few smaller items). I was the attacker and spawned infront of the other ship. But all my treasure was gone when I came out of the water. I won the fight but my treasure never came back.
So I'm just wondering,... is that normal? Was the value just added to my hourglas or something?
Any help would be great 🙂
You don't take treasure with you when attacking. Keeping loot to boost your hourglass value is for defending only.
As solo slooper how will i preparw for surprise attack
Thanks, I'll use these tips to get the Skeleton Curse 💀
he made the same exact video for skeleton curse😂 he copy and pasted the script
Thanks so much
where can i find the background music
I've got them live on my channel now!
@@GhostAdmiral
you are amazing, the music is legendary thank you so much
Let’s say if you were solo slopping and looking for ships a to fight, will it give you another solo sloop or could it be duo or solo? Same with other ships too 🤔
I havent tried myself but from what I've read it will be other solo slooper unless you request a bigger fight
Solo sloops are mixed in with duo
@@monimate1673 This is incorrect.
Solo sloops will only ever fight solo sloops unless they opt into a bigger fight.
@@yoshometsuxboxlive thanks.
If your solo you go against the same sized crew and ship
Damn I literally tried this before waited forever didn’t find a single soul
Seriously? It was always less than a minute for me, both via diving and defending (sailing with controller players only)
soooo, get gud, then sink people without getting sunk. got it. see you with the curse in about a year...
How do you get that skin?
So the only way to get allegiance isn’t sinking someone?
Will this event go on for multiple seasons?
Yes think so
So doing the match making is the only way to level up fast
Can someone pls say when new season is here
Now
Here
Oh thank you MrMadMaxMan
Now
If you drop your hourglass do you get allegiance and gold?
literally what he said
@@claytonbarnes6644 mis typed it. And he said nothing abt allegiance
Does ghost curse always available
It is not time limited, and once you get it it is removable in the vanity chest
Is it always available to claim
@@RUMOFWAR yes, that's what not time limited means...
@@hugegamer8004 clearly English isn't their first language pleb
@@mybroski664 ok
My brother in Christ the ghost curse cost 1000 allegiance. There’s is no fast way to get it
So become a pirate legend in an hour then I can get a curse
not the best at pvp or someone who goes out of their way to do it buuut this definitely has peaked my interest.
If I suck, "get gud" is not really a strategy for fastest ghost curse...
I am looking forward to getting the ghost curse, it will look brilliant on my outfit
So you just had to hit defenders of fortune level 100?
To get the main curse yes for gold curse its a thousand
the matchmakings take upwards of half an hour for me D:
So if your bad at pvp your not getting the curses
Lookin for a crew to do this with on Xbox
I hope the incorporate diving into the game more
Could make it so some quests and tall tales dive you.
can i only gain reputation through PVP
Yes.
just shoot enemny with cannon once then spawn camp for 10 minutes
You do get allegiance for selling emmi flags
"FASTEST WAY TO GET GHOST CURSE" Spoiler: he says just do it. You already know how to do it, so just do it.
for those who came here to know the fastest way to get 100 level its simple in theory.
1. get an alliance with some ships the more the better (everyone on the same side but remember, death to the reapers!)
2. active checkpoint from the last tale from pirets life to have infinite amount of resources
3. hang arround with your alliance crew near tale point and wait for the battle the more ships the more frequently u will have battle
4. and now important part no matter who sunk the ship everyone will get a streak only if u hit them once with cannon ball
*let the reapers pay for they crimes
where are you getting the supplies from? is it the final chapter of pirates life tall tale or the final chapter of the final tall tale in that collection?
@@vincenzobrancato8273 iam not sure it is finall chapter but it is one of those when u have to enter to the spire but u dont need to..(and yes last tale from pirets life tales so its gonna be 5th) then Pendragon and all his crew rise up from the water to save you and help defeat Davy Jones and destroy every ghost ship on the horizon in heroic battle...but screw it lets kill him....DEATH TO THE REAPERS!
@@Quetrix1 where do you actually get the supplies from? are you talking about picking up the supply crates in the water that re spawn?
@@vincenzobrancato8273 yes almost every ship killed by Pendragon crew drops crate...sure u will not get blonderbombs and chainshoots however beeing in alliance u dont really need them
"when you're diving you have the advantage" bullshit I spawned right in front of their broadside after diving and lost the fight in 2 minutes :c
I spawn in front of a rock and crashed. Guy coward and left lol
I spawned next to a active fort and they attacked me and the ship attacked me at the same time…
I spawned at a fortress and the dumb ass was using fortress cannons to try and sink me, mean while i shot two holes in to him sunk him and got a nice fat load of free loot with little work required 😂
Do you need to get the curses before the end of the season?
Very nice video. And a small tip: Never bring your pets for a fight
Now if only I didn't suck at pvp
They need to lower the amount of wins it takes to get the curses.
season 18 now
