It can take months, even years for a domestic, let alone a stray, to allow a human to touch their belly. Showing is one thing, touching is another. And considering my current two cats were rescued when they were only a few weeks old, it's been over a year and a half and they trust us to show their bellies, but rarely let us pet them. But don't let my experience with two and a half decades and multiple cats give you the wrong idea, I don't know everything, and that's simply because every cat has such a unique personality.
I saw the "protective mama" video where you fed them. Now I see you're actually rehabilitating them, making them adoptable by acclimating them to humans. You're doing great work!

Many people are of the mind that if the kittens are not handled and socialized before 4-5 months they will always be wild to some degree and still be labeled as feral 🙄 . Many rescues will not take them if they have that label. 😬 Which is ridiculous. I've socialized many a feral kitten over the age of 6 months to a year as well as some cats. Not strays but ferals. It can most definitely be done. Food goes a long way for starving kitties. If I feel the cat can be labeled as domesticated with others, just not me, then I don't even tell them they started out as ferals. I fib and say they were a stray and got left by a moving family or dumped out here in the country. Never once had a returned kitty that I rehabed, at least not that I know.

I live in Houston (Cypress-Katy area) and bought a trap because there were stray cats in my backyard, I trapped them with the trap and took them to get spayed/neutered and then I released them back in my backyard. If you need the trap, I can let you borrow it, so you can take mother cat to get spayed and then release it back to your backyard. Before I spayed one of the females she had 4 kittens and I kept them all including the mom, now they have all been fixed, they live in the backyard. Greetings from Houston 👍😀❤

I'd already asked the O.P, as his backyard looks like a typical U.K. backyard and was prepared to drive anywhere within the U.K. to pick them up and give them a home. Perhaps some kind Texan who watches O.P's videos and isn't too far away from Houston may decide to adopt them!

I love how you are getting them used to human contact. They should be ready for adoption soon. As for the other adult cats in your backyard, you should see if there is a Trap, Neuter/Spayed, Release (TNR) clinic or vet in your area. That way it stops the cycle of ferals having kittens. Contact a local vet, they usually know where or who does TNR. Its a free program. You'll need to get a cat trap, set it, once trapped, drop cat off in the morning, pick up later and release the cat back into your backyard or area. With a lot of care and affection, kittens can become pets. But most feral adult cats are unadoptable. The TNR program helps to stop creating more feral cats.

You need to get these kittens indoors and adopted out. You probably don't need more street cats out there. While your at it, get momma neutered. I don't know if she's too feral to be adoptable, but she can be TNRed.

I'm honestly worried that they're going to get hit by a car or attacked by other animals if he just leaves them outside. Even if it's not very likely that will happen it still an unnecessary risk that could be easily avoided.
