Mr. Lawyer Dude, this isn't going to end well, no matter what you say. You messed up. And what's with the aggressive posture at the beginning of the proceedings, 2 fists down on the table?
To be clear, the ONLY reason an attorney uses a term like “grievance” in reference to another attorney is to threaten or intimidate them. Bennett is a slimeball from the word go. Eventually he’ll be disbarred.
@@MrBollocks10 You need to follow a little more closely. What the defense attempted was blackmail and the judge caught it. The judge was able to determine that the prosecutor had every right to bring the matter to trial. And that the defense threatening to file bogus paperwork to attempt to have the prosecutor and her boss fired for legitimately doing their jobs is not only unethical but can result in the disbarment of defense counsel. In fact, at the end you hear that defense counsel admits to wrongdoing and will submit their admission of wrongdoing to the Michigan Bar….. if they don’t, Judge Simpson said he will. Here’s another way of looking at it. Let’s say you’re a recently hired employee. You and another older, more experienced work colleague (a peer) have been asked to each submit a project proposal for senior management to review, and one of the proposals will be selected for implementation. While you’re each working on your proposals, the older more experienced colleague tells you that you had better not submit your proposal, or else they will submit (bogus) paperwork to HR alleging you and your boss have been sexually harassing them. You know perfectly well the allegation is BS and they’re trying to intimidate you from rightfully doing your job assigned. That’s what this slimeball of a defense counsel tried to do, and in legal circles that’s a huge no-no. Why? Because when you file false allegations on another attorney you’re trying not only for that person to lose their job, but their law license entirely.
Mr. Bennet is tap dancing as fast as he can because he knows "he done F**ked up" as evidenced by him saying he was going to self report himself in the end.
Yup, seen the type. Thinks he's the smartest person in the room. Thought he could bully her behind-the-scenes and definitely wasn't expecting her to bring it to the judge's attention. Then tried to excuse it away as if she had misunderstood him lol
Does this lawyer understand that EVERYONE charged with a crime could be innocent? By his logic then no criminal cases should be brought forward because the person could be innocent.
As a former member of AA/NA/HA/CMA/CA, I don’t believe AA will hold any real reaching value for this young man. The first thing is to admit you’re an alcoholic and that just doesn’t seem to be the case.
@@jjones7500 this is social media, I’m allowed to have an opinion. And I don’t have a sponsor as the 12 steps didn’t relate well to me because of the glorification. Maybe you should learn to read before you say something stupid
Again. Jeez. Get a new attorney. I think the attorney is irresponsible for not backing off letting someone else finish the case. Not only us he is now a liar, he attempted to intimidate a young attorney. That sure backfired. Good for her, and the judge
This attorney was attempting to try the case outside of court in his fumbling, inept way. And now he's being called on it. When they came back into session, the client should have stood up and made a motion to dismiss his attorney!
Looks like Attorney Bennet has swapped his shovel for a bobcat to continue his search for the core of this earth. So far he's accused Judge Simpson of favoritism because Simpson granted a DA's motion for an emergency bond hearing. Then after they adjourned that to the following day, when given multiple opportunities to apologize, the man failed to read the room and pretended nothing ever happened. And now this. Threatening to file a grievance against another lawyer to try to get her to not file on his client. I appreciate Judge Simpson's comment at the end, reminding him that if he didn't self report the judge would take care of that for him. Based on his current trajectory, I suspect he may not get that done in a timely manner, swapping his bobcat for an industrial tunnel boring machine. I feel bad for hoping he continues, but honestly I kinda wanna see just how bad it can get. I feel for his clients though. They deserve better.

That defense attorney, Mr Bennett may be facing possible disbarrment with his actions and accusations against the prosecutor, Miss Hughes. And thanks to Judge Simpson putting that lawyer’s feet to the fire. Now at 25:14, Bennett is backpedaling saying his accusation and intention was not a threat-only Hughes mistaken interpretation. Judge Simpson is correct, Bennett needs a sanction. Oh my. Bless Judge Simpson, and attorney Hughes. Oddly enough, hope the defendant can obtain a decent defense attorney in time for the July 1st return. Even with Bennett now saying he will report himself, and the judge ordering him to report when that happens, he still has to decide if the court will do same. I imagine he will. And as he said, Bennett’s practice may be a thing of the past with his threat to prosecution. Consequences should be tough here. Hope a follow up video will be done.
