Hi Nico thank you for viewing this video and your question. In Asset Management terms (ISO5500x) "An Asset is anything that does or has the potential to deliver value to stakeholders." The video is considering the value generated from the Asset and the vested interest from a value delivery perspective. The business Functions that create and support the Asset are intrinsic to the Asset itself. This doesn't mean that Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, Human Resources etc aren't important, it is simply considering tensions from the areas that have the most influence and are primary drivers of organizational culture.
If anything Engineering is one of a few functions that will sit across Operations and Maintenance in an execution sense but will also sit close to the Asset Manager because they form the technical smarts and governance to what the Asset was designed to do in the first place. They will also represent the Asset Owner indirectly because Engineering will influence decisions around redundancy, life cycle and support. I hope this explains the context of the video.
