Jason once again you have done an amazing video. I love the collaboration videos with you and your wife because both of you have different things to bring into the table. Keep us up with the updates .
Gosh did this one strike me. Neolamprologus Tetrocephalus. What a stunning fish! Oh, I see it gets to about 4"? Darn. I got all excited. I'm still trying to decide on my first Lake Tang fish. Hopefully from you Jason!
I thought about this a lot (mixing fish types/locations) and feel if everyone is happy - I'm good with it. I see many using Melanotaenia praecox Rainbows with shellies/Caudos with reports that they're perfect for Shellies. I like the idea of it.
Hi Jason I really enjoy your videos & the way you present them. I’m new to the hobby & am doing lot’s of research before I decide which fish I’m going purchase I want to have 1 male betta & would love to have a few prawns with him in a 6 gallon well planted tank. I’m getting mixed answers whether they would get along or make a nice meal. Any advice would be appreciated. Many Thanks Tony.
It might be tough in a small tank. Bettas are pretty good hunters - it works for some people, but lots of people have also seen their shrimp become expensive fish food. I generally don't mix the two.
Jason, thanks for all the videos very informative, I'm about to start with african cichlids (p. saulosi) and can't wait for setting up the tank, hope to do well.
Another great video mate im really surprised by the sig i know we talked about them but i would of figured they would have breed by now its really curious they look good i wonder why they are not Its like my sumbu over a year now still haven't gotten them to breed
Hey Jason.............what ever happened to the Marineland Emperor Pro 450 that you reviewed Oct. 26, 2019................did they scrap production on it as the 375 just came out last month ??
Niiice... What is that fish at 6.30?? That's way perrrtty.... Here's a question for ya: I have this tank with 2x Redhead Tapajos, 2x Keyholes, 2x Firemouths, 1x EBA, 1x albino bristlenosed pleco. I had to move my Celebes Rainbows out of it because the cichlids are getting big and they started eyeing the rainbows for a snack. Now, what would you put in there as dither fish? I'm thinking maybe barbs.... I dunno. Any idea is welcome. Also, I kid you not, all those fish tour videos seem really rushed. I wish they could be like 20+min......
The fish you were looking at was Theraps irregularis - I love them! You would probably want to go with something a little larger - barbs work, columbian tetras, skirt tetras, larger rainbows, giant danios, congo tetras?
Hey Jason! I have a 10 gallon tank. The tank contains a male betta, 4 tetras, 3 corydoras and 1 amano shrimp. The tank of only about a week old with all the fish in it. I checked the water parameters today and everything’s in check. But then I noticed a clear stringy slime hanging around plastic plants on a plastic castle I have in the tank. Then I found it in the rock on the bottom of the tank. Some of it has small brownish very small dots. Any idea what it is? I’ve been looking all over and can’t figure it out. From what I’ve noticed the shrimp nor the corydoras are eating it.
Sometimes with a new tank a biofilm will form and fungi will also coat some surfaces. This can happen especially if there is driftwood in the tank. Keep testing your water since the tank is new. You will be looking for ammonia and/or nitrite concentrations to rise in the next few days. If that happens we have videos out on how to lower both.
She actually did three re-scapes in the previous video to this. One - basically she lowers the water about half way, removes what she doesn't want in the tank and adds the new stuff. The fish don't seem to care much. : -)
Great question. Something not super aggressive - these are all good choices - kribensis, rams, apistogramma, electric blue acara, many shell dweller like similis and multifasciatus. I think I have a video out there - Cichlids for Beginners - that I did a while ago. : -)
@@PrimeTimeAquatics Awesome recommendations! I love those Electric Blue Acara! That color of blue is a personal fave. Would a 30gal tank be ok? Thanks for replying back!
Certainly ammonia and nitrites should be zero, but nitrates get's harder. It's possible to keep it well below 20ppm, which is good, by using lots of plants or trying to pack out a canister with media that allows for anaerobic denitrification (although people have had mixed results with this method).
Off topic but don’t know how to message you. Could you please do some videos about fish diseases? Ick or ich is the only one beginners know and everything is ich no matter what it is. So how to properly identify and treat it but also some uncommon less know issues such as coulumnaris and fungal diseases. Please and thank you.
I was able to keep a basketball-sized spinning mass of Java fern and one large chunk of driftwood with my massive Oscar. That was all he killed all tank mates in a 125gal.

Love how much your channel has grown! Mic and Camera quality is awesome!
Agreed!!
Thank you! We have invested a lot of money in software and equipment lately. : -)
I had mixed cichlids in a 75 and never had any issues. They all grew up together and we're happy.
Very cool!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics I gotta say, I love that you reply to the comments on your videos. To cool.
You guys just keep the hits coming! Love the tank with all Blue Acara.
Thank you!
Great video. I can't believe an Oscar tank with just 3 sponge filters. I'm just amazed.
I have a Penguin 450 on there as well just for mechanical filtration.

how big is this tank
The bigger ones were 125s.
Nice job. And, no, I’m not rescaping Timmy’s tank. They always mess it up. 🤔👎😑
You could try doing a Timmy safe indestructible scape 🤔
Can you not speak about this at home?
It's getting ugly...
