San Juan Island Lopez Island Shaw Island Orcas Island are the only Islands in the San Juans served by WA State Ferries, that's why the get the most attention. Have a reservation if you are driving a car on and especially off an Island. (especially on a summer weekend). Walk ons for interisland sailings are free. There is lots of parking in Anacortes for walk-ons.
Not the only thing he has mixed-up. I particularly liked how his account of hot-air ballooning on Whidby Island was illustrated with stock footage of balloons over what appears to be somewhere in Arizona, New Mexico, or some other locale in the desert southwest.
Washington tried to make it as a tourist destination. It flopped. All the visitor centers closed down. You still have to pay to go on any beach and most hiking trails are over used. Sad. I grew up here and things were free and not crowded. Now, I go places that nobody really knows about….just for the quiet and wildness.
lol, two beaches on basically privately owned Islands and a Lake in a state park is hardly ANY beach. Most, if not all ocean beaches on the mainland of Washington are publicly accessible and completely free to visit.
@@chillaxin813 not around here. If they aren’t owned by the government…then they are private. All beaches are accessible but not free. Private access is a no no unless you own it. Public beaches where I have been….cost. A pass can be bought….but still. Even areas accessible to hang gliders are now admission by price. It has gotten ridiculous since we pay for those public areas.
@@solaris808 in my version of the English language, the words “any” and “every” are pretty darn close to being interchangeable. You commented that you had to pay to visit ANY beach in Washington. When asked to provide examples, you cite way less than 1% of the total waterfront in the state. I don’t know where you live in Washington, but obviously you need to explore a little more because your original comment is totally untrue and completely laughable.

I think he had his Vancouver cities mixed up. He mentioned Ft. Vancouver as being in B.C. It's in Vancouver, Wa. Not a local obviously.
Not the only thing he has mixed-up. I particularly liked how his account of hot-air ballooning on Whidby Island was illustrated with stock footage of balloons over what appears to be somewhere in Arizona, New Mexico, or some other locale in the desert southwest.
Vancouver, Washington was established before Vancouver BC. Vancouver Wash is across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon.

What beach do you have to pay to visit? Not one that I have ever visited. I’ve lived here all of my life.
@@chillaxin813 whidbey island beaches, fidalgo island beaches, up by Mount Baker as well.
