Also how the guards have to escort him and Penelope so the suitors can’t hurt them. The way they have to sneak up on him and get him alone to do something to him. It really shows how much of a threat the suitors really are
@@themisslee4792 I think it was a political situation, because while Ithica was a monarchy state, the suitors are supposed to be nobles. So while Penelope is legally the Queen, she can still be presurred by them. That's why she had to scheme and pull tricks like the tapestry or the challenge with the bow and the axes in order to stall.
@@themisslee4792 Odysseus took his personal army (600 men) to war which is why there were hardly any "loyal" guards. Most of those suitors were also younger brothers of the soldiers from Odysseus' army.

The amount of dynamic camera angles really made it seem like an actual movie (also love how Telemachus looks like such a shonen protag in this one and the goofy expressions his dog makes in the backgrounds!)
I LOVE how much penelope looks visibly worn out and weary in this, not just because it’s been 20 years since she’s seen her husband, whom she isn’t sure is even alive, passed. But having a bunch of men staying in her home, constantly bothering her and her son and now, beating up said son, must’ve stressed the hell out of her
oh the FURY in his eyes after antinous makes his nasty comments!! i really love the idea of telemachus actually training and not just dreaming, and i love the detail of penelope watching him with pride and fondness
This HAS to be my favorite Legendary animatic. I love the details of Telemachus having to sneak back into his room of his own home through a WINDOW to avoid the suitors. Even the drawing he did of him and odysseus has the Trojan Horse next to them. And Athena don’t pretend we didn’t see you we did. Even as an owl. I love how Penelope and Telemachus have guards escorting them, just to keep them safe, but how Telemachus wants to find any way to his mom safe. And the fact that leads into Telemachus trying to teach himself how to fight with a dummy is just- brilliant. And then it leads into the ending and I just- WOW.
The drawings on his desk killed me, my heart is in pieces over this young man who's never known his father, but dreams of standing and fighting at his side.

@@AceCookie there is some debate in the anthropology field that maybe "10 years" was a metaphor for a long period of time, kind of like how we use "a land far far away" as a metaphor for a fantasy location. We do know he's a short period of time away from ascending to the throne and that's why the suitors have become more aggressive, because their chances at becoming king is dwindling away. His age range is an estimated 14-21, and I love how he still looks like he could fit either extreme of that bracket.
I love how he’s actually training! His design is by far my favorite. And the way he’s treated like an actual prince, more or less, also Athena, Argos.. this animatic has literally everything!!

It actually is Argos! Agros kept clinging onto life until he finally got to see Odysseus for one last time. Which means that in terms of Epic: The Musical, Argos was over 20 years old!

It's unfortunate that Mr. Jalepeño couldn't make Telemachus' line getting angry about that "joke", but I think it's worth it solely because of that _"What'cha gonna do about it champ?"_

the way that you made Telemachus' "l-l-l-legendary" come from the fact that he was scared of the suitors made me laugh so hard when i first saw it haha! this is one of my favorite animatics for epic, i've especially rewatched it several times this week because it's so so so good! you did amazing!!
My favourite one so far. Everything you've included has so much meaning like the fact he's hiding from the suitors, his facial expressions, his clothing, the damn drawing with his father. Not too mention how smooth/clean the transitions are. This could totally become an animation with how well you've drawn everything and the camera angles. IT"S TOO GOOD MATE! It should be a crime because of how good this is lol. My one small critique would probably be making Telemachus taller since he's older around this point in the timeline.
I love your design for Telemachus he is so pretty and young but also you can see that he is a young adult. The way the whole animatic gave us so much insight into their life, had a plot - it's awesome! Telemachus who needs to sneak into his bedroom, who trains in secret, Penelope who loves him so much and looks at him with fondness. The fact that when they go anywhere they go with the guards so they are not attacked by the Suitors... I loved how you told us this story (also the fact that the l-l-l-legendary was due to Telemachus stumbling was perfect)
The camera angles being so movie-like and dynamic separate these animatics in terms of immersion. Not to mention the aspect ratio and detailed background, and how interactive and present all the characters are- it never feels like characters are popping in and out of the scene whenever you want them to if that makes sense. Also I kinda love how Telemachus looks like Orpheus off Hadestown lol
I’d actually die to see you do the rest of Telemachus’s mini saga (Little Wolf and We’ll Be Fine) because the way you design and characterize him and his world makes his struggle so compelling- more than any other animatic I’ve seen.
1:40 this was an EXCELLENT visual representation of how dangerous the suitors really are and how bold they are becoming. Your Legendary really emphasizes how sinister the situation Telly and Penelope is. In yours, the song is less a fantasy of a boy wishing he knew his epic dad (and could be just like him) and more of a plantive cry for that father and his strength to hold things down to live up to his dad's legend. Gut punch. Beautiful work. Wonderful representation. You've just gained a follower.
To be honest, for the moment this is my favourite interpretation of Legendary. The transitions, Telemachus stammering and on top of that the presence of Penelope and a real bond between her and her son ! You did an amazing job really ! 🤩
This is without a doubt the best animatic I've seen. It shows the actual danger of the suitors with them having to sneak up on telemachus and the guards walking Penelope and telemachus around. As much as i love others where telemachus acts out the different monsters, seeing him actually live in the palace, being the prince, that was soooo cool and a nice change of pace. I love the storytelling in your work! Like, i dunno how to describe it, but you’re telling a story, and you tell it really well, you know? Anyways, this was great! I love your art style too!
So much amazing detail here!!! I love how you used the introduction to show Telemachus sneaking past the suitors and taking refuge in his room: that set up his motivation for the entire song so perfectly! I also love the idea of Telemachus making fan art of his dad, and imagining joining him on his adventures (the little stick-figure labeled "me" next to the drawing of Odysseus had me tearing up!). Penelope's presence in the song was wonderful--even though she doesn't say anything, you could see her strength and dignity when she encourages Telemachus to walk with her past the suitors instead of hiding in his room--but then we also see her vulnerability when she is the one retreating to her room at the end. The cut to Antinous and the expression on his face actually made me shiver, and the dagger in his hand chipping into the column really emphasized the rising danger he and the others pose to Penelope and Telemachus. Was there meant to be a bit of a time-skip during the training montage where Telemachus was beating up the dummy? It could have just been my imagination, but it seemed like Telemachus looked more like a young teen at the beginning of the video, and by the end of that section he looked marginally older--and then he echoes the "twenty years..." like he's realizing how long he's been waiting for his dad...the fight is no longer about trying to impress Odysseus when he comes home; it's about being ready to fill his place if he doesn't. That whole sequence was great, and I loved the detail of Penelope watching Telemachus through the window as the suitors are harassing her. I'm imagining she can see a lot of Odysseus in their son, and seeing him out there training reminds her of what they're both fighting for. All that to say, you are a brilliant artist, and thank you for creating this beautiful interpretation of this song!
Ok, I'm going to say this. I was really excited by the fact that in this animatic he is training, as this shows us two things: 1: He may not be an expert fighter, but he knows how to fight (at least a little), and that won't leave him in such a bad position in his fight with Antinous in the song Little Wolf (like for that reason 👍). 2: This shows that he not only dreams of being an adventurer, but it is also a conviction that he has; by training and practicing the art of combat every day (from what I see and judge) It implies that you have discipline and somehow take that desire seriously, and this reinforces the idea that he also wants to be strong enough to be able to protect his mother from the suitors (even though they have guards protecting them, (They are not there to protect them all the time). OMG this is amazing! There are so many details that I love! Just some of them being him sneaking into his room, the stuttering when he sees the suitors, his little training montage, but my favorite detail has to be how you have Penelope interacting with him and checking in on him. You can absolutely see how they love and care for each other, which is so sweet!
This is AMAZING! Argos and the sneaking and being escorted by guards and how expressive everyone is! Love Penelope and Telemachus walking together and him focusing on her for that part of the song! So many tiny details that make this great and you incorporated his little remix moment so well by making it a stutter! The dagger chipping into the wall too was also a great touch. The story boarding for this is so good! I feel like it really brings Telemachus’ personality to light, especially his expressions and the moments where he switched between wanting to be brave & getting intimidated by the suitors. The POV changes of the camera between him, Penelope, and Antinous are super enjoyable too. I really liked the swap between the hand reaching towards the top of his bed and the training dummy. plus! His dog having a personality and getting aggressive during the confrontation at the end was a really cool detail. I hope you make more soon!

AHHHH, I LOVE THIS!! Setting Telemachus at a younger age makes the suitors seem so much more intimidating from his perspective, clearly outnumbering and overpowering him if they wanted to. But I can definitely still see him outsmarting them and using his smaller stature to his advantage. I would die if you did a Little Wolf animatic. Any plans for it possibly? Ahhh wowie this is amazing!!! I love how dynamic each frame is! So much depth added to the scenes!! And i love the detail of his head piece!! Its a symbol of status and i feel like it doesnt get used enough, so im glad to see it here!! I love that he's wearing it in every scene apart from his training bit! It really pushes it as part of his normal attire as opposed to a one time / rarely used accessory!!!

Your Legendary really emphasizes how sinister the situation Telly and Penelope is. In yours, the song is less a fantasy of a boy wishing he knew his epic dad (and could be just like him) and more of a plantive cry for that father and his strength to hold things down to live up to his dad's legend.

To be honest, for the moment this is my favourite interpretation of Legendary. The transitions, Telemachus stammering and on top of that the presence of Penelope and a real bond between her and her son ! You did an amazing job really ! 🤩

This is without a doubt the best animatic I've seen. It shows the actual danger of the suitors with them having to sneak up on telemachus and the guards walking Penelope and telemachus around. It's also super smooth with amazing storyline and visuals and the character designs on absolutely amazing. Can't wait to see your little wolf animatic

As much as i love others where telemachus acts out the different monsters, seeing him actually live in the palace, being the prince, that was soooo cool and a nice change of pace. So much amazing detail here!!! I love how you used the introduction to show Telemachus sneaking past the suitors and taking refuge in his room: that set up his motivation for the entire song so perfectly! I also love the idea of Telemachus making fan art of his dad, and imagining joining him on his adventures (the little stick-figure labeled "me" next to the drawing of Odysseus had me tearing up!).
Penelope's presence in the song was wonderful--even though she doesn't say anything, you could see her strength and dignity when she encourages Telemachus to walk with her past the suitors instead of hiding in his room--but then we also see her vulnerability when she is the one retreating to her room at the end.
The cut to Antinous and the expression on his face actually made me shiver, and the dagger in his hand chipping into the column really emphasized the rising danger he and the others pose to Penelope and Telemachus.
Was there meant to be a bit of a time-skip during the training montage where Telemachus was beating up the dummy? It could have just been my imagination, but it seemed like Telemachus looked more like a young teen at the beginning of the video, and by the end of that section he looked marginally older--and then he echoes the "twenty years..." like he's realizing how long he's been waiting for his dad...the fight is no longer about trying to impress Odysseus when he comes home; it's about being ready to fill his place if he doesn't. That whole sequence was great, and I loved the detail of Penelope watching Telemachus through the window as the suitors are harassing her. I'm imagining she can see a lot of Odysseus in their son, and seeing him out there training reminds her of what they're both fighting for.
All that to say, you are a brilliant artist, and thank you for creating this beautiful interpretation of this song!
Ok, I'm going to say this.
I was really excited by the fact that in this animatic he is training, as this shows us two things:
1: He may not be an expert fighter, but he knows how to fight (at least a little), and that won't leave him in such a bad position in his fight with Antinous in the song Little Wolf (like for that reason 👍).
2: This shows that he not only dreams of being an adventurer, but it is also a conviction that he has; by training and practicing the art of combat every day (from what I see and judge) It implies that you have discipline and somehow take that desire seriously, and this reinforces the idea that he also wants to be strong enough to be able to protect his mother from the suitors (even though they have guards protecting them, (They are not there to protect them all the time).

OMG this is amazing! There are so many details that I love! Just some of them being him sneaking into his room, the stuttering when he sees the suitors, his little training montage, but my favorite detail has to be how you have Penelope interacting with him and checking in on him. You can absolutely see how they love and care for each other, which is so sweet!

The story boarding for this is so good! I feel like it really brings Telemachus’ personality to light, especially his expressions and the moments where he switched between wanting to be brave & getting intimidated by the suitors. The POV changes of the camera between him, Penelope, and Antinous are super enjoyable too. I really liked the swap between the hand reaching towards the top of his bed and the training dummy. plus! His dog having a personality and getting aggressive during the confrontation at the end was a really cool detail.

Setting Telemachus at a younger age makes the suitors seem so much more intimidating from his perspective, clearly outnumbering and overpowering him if they wanted to. But I can definitely still see him outsmarting them and using his smaller stature to his advantage.
