Hello! I just learned that there is a HYBE boycott at the moment so I wanted to update that I will not be buying or streaming anything from HYBE until the boycott is over. Unfortunately, I already had 2 items secured before I found out (1 is on the way), but I will not get anything else. There is also a general big 4 (HYBE, JYP, SM, YG) boycott until May 1st (I believe), so the same goes for groups under those companies. I hope anyone that watches this video will also begin to participate in the boycott. @@whiskasthinkingaboutuu The boycotts are generally about stopping the big 4 from working with Zionists and companies that are pro-Israel. The HYBE one has a bigger focus on removing the CEO of HYBE-America, Scooter Braun. I linked some posts that go into more detail in the description of the video as well as my pinned comment :)
So does it mean that these companies are involved in political issues so Korean people boycott them? I didn't know this was happening, it sounds terrible 😰
I agree with you, the EP is a bit short. I can't help but think they changed the concept in the last minute when Youngseo left. When I hear these tracks I don't think they fit Youngseo's voice. By the short time they had to prepare from January to March it only became 4 tracks. They didn't have the time to make more music videos either. Mnet's ILLIT show fed us with a video for Midnight Fiction which looked like a MV and then My World and Lucky Girl Syndrome were studio performance instead of MVs. People have been saying Hybe and Belift Lab might have been influenced by Hee-jin Min's NewJeans approach to have music videos for every track but didn't have the time for production. What Hee-jin Min did with NewJeans Get Up EP to have shorter songs can have influenced the decision too. Overall that's where the similarity ends between NewJeans and ILLIT. They are so different in music genre and concept. Super Real Me brought pluggnb/house, lo-fi and city pop. NewJeans had 90's vibe with R&B, hiphop and Jersey club music and the concept is Y2K where they wear clothes like you did in the 90's and early 00's. It's nostalgia fashion. Powerpuff Girls, Super Famicom and PS1. ILLIT's concept has the aesthetic between real world and magical girls. Their school uniforms they debuted with was their own thing. NewJeans debuted with Y2K clothes. But there is no denial Si-hyuk Bang wanted his own NewJeans in terms of clear concept like IVE has also succeed with. These two are the biggest girl groups right now he has studied. That can also explain why the debut ended up so good. When something is clear the songs will too. The intro song (My World) is the best intro Bang has ever produced for a debut for any groups including BTS. It is easy listening and it defines ILLIT's worldview that will now be a intro that will pop up when you think of ILLIT. Like NewJeans intro to Get Up with 90's vibe and Powerpuff Girls that was produced by Hee-jin Min. Bang gave them this concept now it's up to the members to evolve it with different styles that are unique to ILLIT. Like coach Gyuri said to ILLIT on the finale episode of R U Next that their real work starts after the debut. Members getting involved with the works and comebacks (writing vocal lines, creative input on music, choreography, maybe even music videos). Of all things they learned from the survival show will they adopt. The most exciting thing with a group's debut is the question of where they will go from here. They had a great debut so it will be exciting to see how the members can raise the bar to the next level.
I'm not sure if they changed the concept last minute, but it felt mostly well-thought out to me. I think Youngseo's voice would have fit well personally. Unfortunately, I think short songs are just a general trend in music right now. I never really understood most of the NewJeans comparisons. I think My World is a great intro too! I like that each song on the album really shows the concepts the group is going for along with what the group is capable of. There is a lot of potential in the album to me. It would be great if the girls become more involved and I'm really looking forward to where they go from here.
@@loonasbunny Pdogg and Slow Rabbit have been around since BTS and they are Hybe's strongest cards when it comes to music. At least from Bang produced groups. Hee-jin Min didn't wanted a Bang produced NewJeans so she went after her own composers like 250. If ILLIT continues with Slow Rabbit but adds Pdogg the conversation between NewJeans and ILLIT will end. Plus ILLIT caters to middle school students which is the darkest time in your school years especially in South Korea and Japan. Bullying, depression, anxiety and suicide. Their brand trailer only gave us a middle school theme with a bridge between a real world and a fictional world. NewJeans is Y2K and wear clothes from the mid 90's to early 00's. They cater to high school students and is the time when you start to enjoy life with friends. ILLIT seems to only face hardships further in their releases if that is the path they take. Combination of real world's society problems and the escape to a fictional world. NewJeans choreography is sexy and cool. Attention and NewJeans have sexy vibes in their choreography. Society problems make sense for a Bang favored group since BTS. The fact he decided to go with Slow Rabbit for their A-side debut speaks volumes. I think it's the fact that they are very high profile dancers and Wonhee can adopt quick (fast learner) and Iroha is right now the best dancer of girl groups in the K-pop scene. They are also good singers but they have to improve their mentality and be media trained to pull off live vocals for encores in music shows. In my opinion I think their first win was too early for them. You could clearly see they were nervous but toxic haters jump on them immediately despite they just debuted. Sad people. By the way, what do you think of Hybe's competence by selecting right composers for the right group? Score/Megatone for Le Sserafim's feminine and elegance style, 250 for NewJeans stylish vibe, etc.
I think some people automatically think of NewJeans when they see a girl group with long natural hairs and simple school uniforms, but it doesn’t really make sense.
