I know this channel focuses on post crisis but I would really recommend the Bronze Age Batgirl omnibuses to anyone who loves Barbara! They’re fun stories and considering there aren’t many Batgirl comics to pick up (compared to the Robins), it’s material worth giving a look.
I started collecting comics shortly after the New 52 launched and chose Batgirl because I also have red hair and love female superheros who use their smarts to solve mysteries. Thanks for showing me what books I should get to read about Stephanie brown and Cassandra Cain! I got Shadow of the Batgirl and loved it!

The "A Matter of Family" DLC for Arkham Knight videogame made me fall in love for Barbara's Batgirl. She is badass in a beautiful way. If they ever make a movie about her, it should be with that uniform and fight style.

Long time listener, first time caller. Great list, for all the 90s Barbara Gordon fans I’d strongly recommend “The Cat And The Bat” by Nicieza and Maguire (collecting their Batman Confidential arc). Despite the title it really is a fun early Batgirl story, really fun indeed.

I love Cassandra Cain's costume. I get that they'll likely never let go of the iconic bat mask for Bruce, but he's so incredibly susceptible to gunfire it's funny. Plus why would you want to let everyone know your secret identity's skin complexion and jaw structure? I'd atleast black face my whole mug, and not just the eyes (which every film Batman does, yet it's always conspicuously missing when the cowl is taken off). Finally, why give opponents the chance to yank you by your hair? #Comics #LearnFromKrillin
My favorite Batgirl is Stephanie Brown. The first comic I ever bought was Batgirl #2. Never found the first issue, but I collected every single issue as they released from that run. Adored it! It's really what got me into comics.
Great job, as always.... BUT PLEASE make a BATMAN reading order,, even if it is only Omnibuses... Especially with so many coming out and reprints added in. All of us newbies would appreciate it.....

A shame that the timing of this video was right as Mairghread Scott's run was still being collected. Oracle is who drew me into comics, and in my opinion Mairghread captured Babs' voice as well as Gail Simone did. I dare say she defined her even further, but sadly editorial decisions and falling sales led to a change in creative teams and a really... messy run for Castellucci. Art of the Crime and Old Enemies are definite must reads. Though, now with Infinite Frontier we may not have a Babs only title, but we're getting multiple great writers using her as Oracle again! Batman, Nightwing, Detective Comics, Urban Legends, Batgirls, she's everywhere now!
Omar, surprised you don't have the Batgirl Year One deluxe HC. I had the tpb with both Robin and Batgirl Year One, but these deluxes are nice, and fit well with Batman Year One on the shelf. I will say, Cassandra was what got me into Batgirl and it's who I prefer, same with Babs as Oracle. Bruce Wayne, Murderer wasn't that the one with the 10 cent issue? Just finished batgirl year one. I loved it! I've been reading the rebirth batgirl run, so I wanted to see what they did with the character without a lot of the sjw stuff. I liked it so much I immediately started reading Robin year one (which I also highly recommend).

stephanie brown is my favorite female character in comics. her run as batgirl is one of my comic book "fireflies" the other being agents of atlas. i liked oracle more than barbera as batgiirl
I would have added The Killing Joke so people can read why Barbara stopped being Batgirl and No mans Land so they can see when and how Cassandra became Batgirl.
Hey Omar. Just checking out some of the old videos and ran across this one. I too think Cassandra Cain as Batgirl was the best. Barbara Gordon wasn't bad, but she wasn't very interesting as Batgirl to me pre Killing Joke or post Flashpoint. Cassie trying to figure out her place after how she was raised and coming face to face with what the world is really like was really good. In truth, I found Oracle to be the most inspiring hero of the Bat Family, even more than Bruce. Even though she had this horrible and violent tragedy impact her, Oracle showed that you can still do good things. She (to me) was the first truly disabled hero in comic books, and the fact she had been Batgirl for so long made the impact of her overcoming the tragedy and finding a place with her disability more inspiring. Most disabled heroes created today start out as disabled, and we don't get the impact of the hero overcoming that like wile did with Oracle. Sorry. I got on a tangent. Have a great night everyone.

There is no better version of the Batman Family than the one that Scott Beatty and Chuck Dixon built in the late 90s-early 2000s. They made sure each title was cohesive, and each book lined up with one another. Nightwing, Robin, Birds of Prey, etc. it all comes together and clearly exists within the same universe. Also, why does DC seem to print up to volume 3 of these trades and then just cut it? It’s so annoying. They even did it with Birds of Prey. I’m really hoping that they eventually go back and bring some of these go around, finishing the runs. We still don’t know if we are going to get the Devin Grayson Nightwing run in TPB format, to continue what Dixon did. I know Devin’s stuff wasn’t as good, but I want the whole series dammit. My favorite Batgirl is Cassandra Cain. Babs is my favorite female character as Oracle. Don’t care for her as much as Batgirl.
Eh, if I did that I would have people bitching at me for spoiling part of No Man's Land. So I tend to stay away from spoilers on these since enough complained on one of my X-men videos about a story that happened 30 years ago!

We need a comprehensive reading order starting from Crisis on infinite earths and everyrhing after because it's confusing as hell where to start reading Batman continuity

Stephanie has been horribly written for all of the New 52 and Rebirth. I'm starting to realize that Tynion just has no idea how to write her, cuz I can't fault you at all for hating her if that's been your only exposure to her. I highly recommend you check out some of her stories before she got erased/rebooted by Flashpoint, especially her Batgirl series.

Great video! I'm heavily considering custom binding the Cass and Steph trades together. Big shame that the Cass stuff hasn't been fully released.
I love Cass so much and her entire character arc. Her character in the upcoming BoP movie worries me so much.

I’ve honestly never liked Stephanie Brown/Spoiler and her activities in Detective Comics Rebirth made me hate her even more
