Though Cheap Trick did not end up on the final Double Fantasy album, Lennon had the session musicians listen to Cheap Trick's (Nielsen and Carlos) version of "I'm Losing You" in order to mimic the sound.
You can hear the version with Cheap Trick and Lennon on the John Lennon Anthology album.
So Earl Slick mimicked Rick???????????????????
Soooo badass, I could listen to their stories all friggin day
A former band mate of mine had a copy of the recordings they did with Lennon. Really good stuff.
No he didn’t. U made that up. We know
Bring in Rick for a John Lennon interview, guitar Rick left , guitars they talked about, guitars
he might have brought to John, yes you need to ask Rick more questions about his
Beatle encounter. 🎸 Thanks Howard
Lennon couldn't have played that lick, or Townsend? What is he on?!
Because Bun E Carlos is a legend 🤘🏽
My understanding is that the original studio musicians brought in to play on Double Fantasy were unaware that they were even working on a John Lennon album. He wasn't at any of the tracking sessions which were completely being run by Jack Douglas.
not true.
Awesome 👌 - Never knew they played on a few tracks. Band is still going strong .
They played on versions of tracks that weren't on the original album release.
Sorry Rick but Townshend and Richards played every lead on those records, some pretty amazing ones.
And Lennon played lead on many great Beatles' tunes as well
@@justineddy5306 Lennon rarely played lead. Maybe 15 songs.
@@betsyduane3461 To me, that qualifies as "many"
@@justineddy5306 the wrote almost 400 numbers, so 15 might be 4%
@@jondoe-ej3nv 227 Beatles song were recorded
sadly it never made the final cut as Lennon opted for session players instead but damn can you imagine that Cheap Trick influence in his work?
woops! they're talking about Losing You of the Double Fantasy album but he plays the riff 0:41 of Cold Turkey haha 1:27 starts playing the actual verse of Losing You
Love the sound.
The title is misleading. They did not end up on the album. Their version wasn’t used. Rick even says it was session musicians but Howard clearly wasn’t listening or didn’t understand
The title is not misleading.
It says *almost* wound up on the album.
Misreading not misleading Joey
Howard thinks he's some great interviewer lol he's not
The Hamer 12 string is beautiful.
really cool
💙💙💙
That's a cheap trick to get on Lennon's album...
im losing you fuckin rocks yo
This is something few people knew
John wanted to tour with them..
Looked at credits. Didn't see rick or bun e
👍
Anyone think this guy sounds like carvey?
cool
CT were an amazing group I saw them in Iowa City warming up Spring 1977 for the Kinks, incredible
I wonder if jack was a bass fisherman?
whats the BS on not seeing how many likes?? Hoo Hoo getting worried he does not get so many likes?
I didn't see Bun E on double fantasy credits
He's not. People aren't listening to the whole interview. They played around in the studio with Lennon, but then he opted to go with other musicians on the album.
Wow I’m early
Here's the link for losing you with Rick & Bun E.

No modesty here.
It’s not need when ur great
Robin has a better voice than John Lennon--always has.
They should have, their version was better
