Makes me want to cry. This was one of the last compositions I sang with my college Chior before covid ended my college career. We practiced this and it was hard at first. But eventually, the parts came together in great harmony. We were ready for concert. The word “alleluia” means praise God which is hard to do in a time like this where I graduated college with no ceremony and churches are being ordered to close. We never did sing this in concert. Still, God is worthy of praise since He sent His son to die for us. Please accept the free gift of Jesus’ sacrifice before it’s too late. He is coming back soon!!!
Blessings to you and your endeavors. I suggest joining your local church choir? My church- Olivet Nazarene University, has a very dedicated music program that acts as one with the church, they have two different groups, and one of the professors of music is the leader of the Gospel Choir. We also have the Orpheus Choir, quite like this. Do some research and you may re-live this experience except lead it.
Agora quem chorou fui eu... Simplesmente lindo seu comentário! E sim, eu recebo esse Presente Maravilhoso do nosso Pai Celestial chamado Jesus Cristo, nosso Amado Salvador Messias!! Hallelu Yah!!
I have listened to every performance of this piece on You Tube, and this is by far the best overall performance. In some of the others there are excellent "moments," but here the singing is under control at all times. The parts are evenly balanced and due attention is given to the gorgeous resolutions and transitions in the piece. The sopranos' upper range singing is silvery and not forced. Bravo!
Thank you for your comment! Speaking as one of the singers in this video, I can confirm your assumption that it was indeed worth the travel costs and hard work. :) If you like these videos, please be sure to subscribe to our new channel that will continue to post similar performance videos of Dr. Allred's choirs (specifically the Salt Lake Vocal Artists)!
The slight pull back around 3:17 to the soprano high Ab is lovely! It's often performed with a crescendo there - but the diminuendo is so much more effective!!
HarringtonTribal & watchin -- I agree with you both. Depending on the version you listen to, this is a nice piece. But Dr. Allred seems to have a connection with bringing out the best of both of piece of music and those performing said piece. (A co-worker who pointed me in the University of Utah Choir also told me that most of the members of that choir were not music majors/minors. I trust this co-worker, so that means that Dr. Allred manages to bring out the very best in amateurs. That's important.) The fact that the sopranos so frequently "float" into notes that seem/feel "preposterously" high and, as a result, would seem to result in a "crescendo" (pummeling) of said notes is both astonishing and gorgeous. The "shimmer" of their vibrato is the "crystallization" of the icing on the cake.
Very beautiful. Spectacular choir! They have it all, technical excellence (pitch, blend, dynamics) and tender feeling. This almost makes me want to go back to church.
I come back to this video every few years because it is a magical performance. I am overwhelmed with nostalgic feelings as I recall carrying the tenor line of this with my high school choir. There are several Alleluia/Hallelujah compositions, but this has always been my favorite. It evokes such a feeling. I have seen several other groups perform this song, but this particular group here has indelibly stained what I feel is a perfect cover of such a beautiful piece. The blend, the pacing, and the fact that no one in the choir hardly moved the entire time. The way they navigate the harmonies as the song winds down leads to an ending that still devastates me. Ugh, it just does it, for me! Even all these years later, bravo, brava!
I was part of a professional choir in my youth and this song was one of the hardest pieces we ever worked on but when it's done we'll it's a soul moving song. Great job beautiful!
Beautiful. This performance makes me feel like God Almighty is watching over them with a smile; that they're rejoicing in Him and singing beautifully at that.
My High School choir is singing this song. We're going to have a concert choir of 125 people singing. We sang it in the Rotunda, with acoustics much like the acoustics in a cathedral. It was an amazing and touching experience.
We sing this for the Communion anthem for either Christmas or Easter frequently. It's one of the sad things of being in the choir.... we don't get to hear it while WE partake of the Eucharistic feast.... we just have to hear it in our hearts and heads... and pray we sing for the rest of the congregation's hearts... Grateful there is this recording... I love singing this even more than then Handel...
This acapella setting requires so much concentration. Wow! Does this ensemble do a masterful job! Love the alto solo entering in the D minor key. Great!
This was a FABULOUS performance!! I remember performing Alleluia for our final concert my sophomore year of high school and we sucked stink weed in comparison. I remember Dr. Allred as well. He was the one who conducted our All State choir in 1996 in Elko, NV. He is an AWESOME music director.
My chorus teacher at Sol C Johnson high in Savannah, Ga taught this song to us and I came to RUclips with the hopes of hearing it again. Thanks for posting!!!
Why would anyone dislike this? It's a beautiful piece, sung with expression but controlled, not "all out" like some other recordings of this piece found on RUclips.
😭😭😭😭🔥🔥 I remember singing this in the breezeway at 6am Chambers Practice my freshman year for a competition the same day we heard of the Oklahoma City Bombing.. it was so reverent and somber.. for a public school and 80+ teens to be singing with such a tenderness.. HS was the absolute worst.. but this is one of very few memories I can remember like yesterday. Singing it that foggy morning transcended time and was just so raw and earnest.
This rendition is sublime! The phrasing, diction, dynamics, and balance are absolutely UNBELIEVABLE! It is evident that Dr. Allred worked assiduously to produce this sound. Bravissimo!
I found you on Easter morning but now I want to hear this a couple of times each day. It plays when I'm falling asleep and plays when I'm preparing for the day. Alleluia is not just for Easter but needed each day way over here in San Antonio, Texas!!! Thanks again for sharing your precious talent....
I sang this song with a choir in high school, and it is still my favorite song to this day. The arrangement is bliss, I cry whenever I hear it now! This was beautifully sang!
A truly beautiful piece of music, and so beautifully performed! Must confess I cried; now I have to find a way of getting my choir to sing this! Thank you!
Neste mundo pagão, apenas um pequeno grupo se deu ao trabalho de assistir a este concerto e ter o privilégio de ouvir esta belíssima obra tão bem executada. Deus os abençoe.
As an experienced singer, I think that this is, by far, the most musical, cohessive, well-balanced and pitch-centered choir I've ever heard. I've enjoyed all your postings immensely. Keep up the fantabulous work; and thanks so much for sharing it with us.
Thank you posting this video. There are now far more in numbers who can appreciate this wonderful performance than those lucky and wise enough to be there in person on that day.
I dare to say that this rendition is definitive: there is hardly any other that could be as respectful, inspired, well-balanced, and beautiful as this is. An absolute gem!
Cantei essa musica no stbnb(brasil,recife-pe)sobre a regencia do compositor Ralph Manuel,no periodo estava estudando e cantando no coro sinfonico.linda musica. que Deus continue abençoando o seu servo.
Beautifully done by one of Dr. Alfred's latest in one of the best sonic venues ever. I bet it was worth the travel bucks. Most singers I know would have virtually killed to sing under the direction of this man.
I remember this song! I was a freshman at Northern State University when I first heard and sang this song. My favorite venue for it was the Cathedral of Saint Paul in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Congratulations on a stunning performance of this beautiful piece! It's a piece that deserves to be sung by more choirs. Probably Manuel's best composition.
I'm Brazilian (from the land of the composer of this masterpiece). In fact, I already had the honor of being under the guidance of Ralph Manuel. I can't understand why you North Americans always start this piece so pianissimo. In the first performance of this piece she started out more energetic, until she reached a point where she had a super explosion! Another thing: why are you guys so slow? Once again: in the original version this piece is more accelerated! In the original version, the bass is extremely vivid! Not this thing that looks more like a three-part youth choir.
This is by far my favorite arrangement of an Alleluia. I remember singing this in high school. It alays brought me such peace and happiness. Thank you so much for bringing tears to me eyes and happiness to my heart. Absolutely beautiful.
This is absolutely heavenly! You should be so proud of the blending of such professional voices. I have already listened to this 3 times! More please!~
i sang this in two different choirs, one in High School and one in College. neither sounded as amazing as this. all the emotion and dynamic variations happening where freaking great!! well done

@@CRenteria-k5h😢I know. I thought Covid would usher Him in, but He will still return someday. I hope soon.
Unfortunate that there were too few sitting listening to this sublime performance. This was an exquisite performance, Dr. Allred. Congratulations!

Absolutely in agreement with you.
Yes. This is the best for now.
The first time i heard this piece was around 2010, when i found it in iTunes. Since there this is the only one i truly like.
yes, an excellent performance!
The same opinion
3:19 I can sleep in peace. So beautiful.

HarringtonTribal I agree. It added more drama.
Absolutely correct. Dr. Allred's interp is spot on with this piece.

It tops off this incredible interpretation! His slight rubatos and pull backs are exquisite.
I sang this in 95, and will forever love this song.
I sang it in 1997 and feel the same. It was so much.
I sang it in 2006 and this song has been ever-present in each corner of my faith journey.
I like to think that they're all in the back of the cathedral shielding themselves from the tidal wave of beauty and awe flowing from the choir.
Today we will sing this beautiful song in our Christmas Concert in Budapest. :)

People are a mystery, John. Of course, there are those who would thumbs down God, too.
Agree .. This is the best performance of Ralph Manuel's Alleuia I ever heard .... LOVE IT !!!!
Never get enough hearing this beatiful song
We're singing this chorale this year and we're going to preform it in several different parts of Europe, I am so excited.
That sounds exciting! Best wishes and good luck.
I love when it goes into the key change at 3:02!! So beautiful!

This is absolutely fantastic in every way. They do Manuel justice.
Both thumbs, way up! So gorgeous! What an incredible jewel of music! What a superb performance! Praising God for this kind of beauty!

They sound like an angel chorus. Gorgeous voices, great conducting.
at 3:00 some bass hits low C :D
I get chills and choke up each time I hear this performance, especially the build-up to 2:25. If divine inspiration is possible, so be it here...
