Appreciate the video. Your analysis was on point. In this match, I was indeed getting flustered and I do walk back a lot which is why I keep getting destroyed by low forward. It didnt happen this set because this player didnt exploit that, but a lot of other matches, I get absolutely wrecked by higher ranked players who know how to mix in low lights to their hit strings which absolutely wreck me. This is a habit I am trying to break because I am too active in trying to avoid the strike/throw scenario that I am forgetting about the low forward drive rush meta..
About fireballs, I am still learning how to apply pressure with it. I like it when I have the opponent on the heel, but at this rank level, opponents LOVE to jump and if they jump while I am doing a fireball, I am going to eat a giant punish counter combo and that was something I wanted to avoid, especially with this Ed player who is capable of doing the level 2 desync combo. But at the same time, you are right about needing to use it more in situations where I have them on the heels.
Also I need to use low forwards more on wakeup as well as in hit strings where I use medium punch. But since I auto pilot, I just use the same st.mp -> cr.mp hit string which is very easy to block. As for why I jump a lot instead of drive rush, the reason why is because fireballs for the most part kills the drive rush game and since most characters have fireballs, I need to be careful about when and how I drive rush. Doing it across the screen makes it easy for me to either get hit by fireball or get checked.
Overall, there were just soo many factors that I had to look out for that forced me to play a more patient and reserve playstyle which frustrated me, which caused me to auto pilot and not think properly about what moves to use and what adaptations I needed to make. When I get back to SF6, I will definitely apply to tips and advice that you have shared and hopefully I can apply it properly to reach 1600MR. 🙏
