I once met a metalhead that would not air guitar while Painikiller was playing. only talked once to that motherfucker. it is about fundamental aesthetics and a general stance in life. if you don't appreciate that this here is the greatest universal metal hymn of all time, you need to leave the room immediately. and you should probably give away your ears to someone who really needs them.

You could tell with Painkiller that Judas Priest was letting all the Thrash Bands know that they were THE Metal Gods.
Rob, KK, Glen, Scott and Ian were like "Hold My Beer, you ain't seen shit." I saw them do Painkiller live twice in 1991 and 92.
If somebody asked you to describe heavy metal in one song , this is that song .
Painkiller is the most metal song ever fkn metaled in the metal music genre of metaling. Nothing like it had ever been done before and nothing has metaled like it since.
This song is just pure unadulterated heavy metal. Nothing more, nothing less. Heavy metal.

I remember when this came out. It was going around at that time that maybe Priest was finished. A very dull album prior to this. And there was talk about them not being on metals Mt. Olympus. Then this dropped...... we all shut the fuck up, and learned to never question Judas Priest.

Have to understand, "British Steel " created a new category of music. Critics said that Priest sold out and slowed down in the 80's. 1990 Painkiller is released and mind's melted. Drummers still use the machine gun opening to warm up. Not bad for a group that was washed up and lo and behold, a new album is just released.
