It is definitely amazing both in terms of hard- and software. How powerful GPUs, CPUs etc. have become and how high quality flight gear manufacturers such as VIRPIL, VKB and MFG have emerged.
I remember buying Lock On years ago as my first real sim. One of the BEST things about it, were the tutorials, because they made flying a lot easier for a compelte newbie. Since then I have bought everything the good people at Eagle Dynamics have put out and have loved every single one of their creations (loving the Black Shark, can't wait to get my hands on the Warthog) and the tutorials have made it a pleasant experience every single time. Thank You ED!
I almost cried when I saw 59.99$ on the website. I would torrent it but I want to support DCS and the team, Guess I'll just have to start saving my pennies. THe graphics and everything are simply amazing!!
I remember when I first started out just starting the plane was a hurdle, and once all that was done and I was flying it was learning my targeting pods and how to lock various things on, and honestly, going back and doing the training explains everything while helping you do it and is probably the best way to learn. they actually did a very good job with the training.
Have you tried the built in tutorials? It's not just a list that says do this, it loads you into the game where it highlights what you have to click and goes through the whole startup, and there's more tutorials that take you through flying and attacking in it as well.
Holy cow this is metal. I remember thinking "A-10 Attack" was a bit full on when I was a kid, just because you had to hit Caps Lock to bring up a 'hand' to work all of the controls with. If my computer wasn't a bucket of shit, I'd be playing this in a fuckin' second.
"Do not jump ahead and start mashing buttons and throwing switches, I will make you a tasty' burger. Out your left windows you will see what Marcelis Wallace looks like."
Really like how you highlight the switches. It's very aesthetic. I also like how the narrator also gives some background on the process taking place under the plane's skin as well.
@HarryHiII This one doesn't install any drivers (which were causing all the problems), they only used that for DVD verification. A-10 didn't even need admin rights to activate.
If you want to learn something , and have fun at the same time, DCS a-10 is for you. If you just want to fly around and tear stuff up, buy something else. In my opinion this simulator gets a 10 for realism , a 10 for sound, 7 for graphics.
Beta is out and game is available for pre purchase at the DCS website. Upon purchase you get the beta then once full retail releases you can download full version.
OMG i just found this today! ive been playing black shark for about 6 days now and love to manualy turn every thing on and all that epicness...NOW I CAN DO IT ON MY #1 PLANE
@angusyoungssg Hey do you use a joystick? We use the little thumb analog on the joystick. If you don't have a joystick then the only method I know is with the number keypads. There are different ways to use them as well. Hold R cntrl+Rshift+ a number and it will give you a different movement and a different view. If you don't have a joystick then knowing Auto Pilot is even more Key. Turn auto pilot on and off with A. You can change the AP settings. below the throttle.
@LambOfNile Awesome. I love the A-10, such a bad-ass vehicle. I'm hoping I can save up enough money to get myself a decent HOTAS system; I'd love to play this and Lock On Platinum oh and DCS: Blackhawk :D
Great Video Matt! I just bought the A-10 Tank Killer from DCS. I was wondering, do you have a transcript of this video in a word or text document? If you do, could you please post it?
The easiest way I've found to fly these beasts is to write a checklist, go through it, and just learn the locations of the systems. All the fuel switches are in 1 location etc which makes it easier to remember. I can do the startup on the F-16, the KA-50 and the A-10 and that's how I learned.
@deathgod646 You don't need lomac as far as I know. You can buy it currently but it is still in beta. The final version will be available via updates to those who bought the beta, which should be soon.
@commandosolo2009 no when you pre purchase it, you'll get an access to the beta version. when the sim is released, the beta will be updated to full version with a patch
sorry i got a bit confused after you set the APG to the BRS while confluxing the GG DERP mix with the FPG and XPFRSO functions....but this was all cranial RSI and LOL thanks for the tutoral tho.
@gnomechomskylives yep you can customize the difficulty from "Game" through to "Simulation" as you see fit, and there is a cheat option for a 1 or 2 button quick start if you dont want to go through the startup yourself :]. awesome game btw, bought it and loving it
@robocong7420 Go to the editor, create a plane at any airport on the map and set the pilot to PLAYER, set the initial waypoint to start at ramp. You will spawn in an 'cold' craft when you test the mission, setting the point to start at runway will spawn you in a craft that is already started up and running. Don't forget to give yourself some weapons too using the payload button on the right side with your unit selected in the editor. Finally, setup some enemy units to hunt down. GL.
Yeah I havn't tried much because I didn't have a joystick last time I played, I've just ordered one and its coming soon I'll have another shot and see if alt or something works thanks man. (:
@gnomechomskylives In DCS: Black Shark you could use the "cheat combination key" to let the game automaticly start up. What this means that switches and buttons get flipped and pushed by themselves. If you buy the game it should be under controls in the drop down menu "cheat" or something. Again this is talking about Black Shark. After that I guess you would have to taxi to the runway, but not sure about that.
Well, since posting my comment I have taken step-by-step pictures of the tutorial with my phone to swipe through when I get started. I still haven't mastered the timing, but 6 times out of 10 I can successfully take off. Still don't really know how to use any of my weapons other than the gun though.
Quick question, If i want to get this game do i need the lomac cd or can i download this off the site this looks like a game i will most definatley enjoy
@commandosolo2009 This Beta versions are ment for people who are familiar with Lock On and/or DCS:Ka-50 to find bugs faster then now ;) If you don't want to pay, wait for a official demo version ;)
As much as I heard from another video the US Airforce use this simulator for training rookies. This is apparently an "simplifyed" version. Apparently...
@theaveragejoe32 Because this game is designed to provide an ultra realistic simulation of operation of an A-10. Basically if you played this game lonng enough you could probably fly an A-10 in reallife.
@robocong7420 I have the 1.0.0.8 version and there definately is a default button in the controls menu, on the bottom between 'clear' and 'axis assign'
@shadowblade145 If you haven't purchased it yet, Direct2Drive is selling it and they currently have 20 percent of all games with the coupon code "hangover" - which brings the price down a bit :)
Thanks Wags, excellent work, thanks Eagle Dynamics. I do not find time to acquire this spectacular simulator, incidentally also buy a new computer software to fly this ... jajajaj Greetings from Colombia.
can you just map all those in order on the 1-0 keys and the q-p so you could just run your finger across it and be done in a couple seconds? life would be so much easier...
Wow the level of detail on these simulators is amazing! The question I have is: as a flight sim mid-range newbie (I have experience with sims, but I've been out of the loop for some time now) - is there are quick start option? I seriously hope I don't have to sit there every mission for ten minutes or more just to get in the air. I can't imagine doing all that only to get shot down and have to start all over again. lol
Favorite part is at 30 seconds when the A-10 does a fly by, and the view just looks towards it like a cat seeing something shiny...you paying attention there? This is going to get complicated ;-)
@Daare111 it's a simulator, not a game ;) anyway.. this sim comes with arcade mode, but i think you atleast need a game pad for it.. i haven't tested the arcade mode though, so i cant say for sure
Probably like in Arma 2: Hold Alt and move your mouse, I guess... or hold right click? I have DCS: Black Shark, it was the one thing I use to know... I feel so useless right now!
@takhs7 No offense taken. By quality you probably mean graphics. Yes, Freefalcon is DX6 or 7 and it has limitations (although if you watch some videos you'll find it's quite beautiful). But otherwise it's a fully functional sim which in my opinion is unique in aspect of dynamic campaign, realism and other features. Plus it's free and developed with love to combat flight sims and not a striving to make a buck.
Hey do I NEED trackir for this game? (And a Joystick) Cause I'm low on cash and I'm thinking about spending a tad bit on this game, if I can run it with keyboard and mouse.
give me a hint why i'm unable to set the throttle lever to idle :D nothing works.. no predefined keys, no keys that i have defined, no mouse-clicking.. somebody glued them to OFF -_-
there shoud be help mode while doing missions you can turn on too help you like highlighting the buttons you need too push to get going couse i normal guy like me who whoud like too learn this stuff cant get this bird in too the air by my self :/
lol god I wish this was on Mac OS. Just noticed the tail number is 90208. was a flag plane for the 23rd Fighter Wing 74th AMU for a few years. also if I ever took this long to get the engines running I would have been laughed off the spot.
Holy F*CK. im watching up to 2:10 right now and omg this is the coolest S*IT ive ever seen. AWESOME tutorial!!! i need this! "shut up and take my money"
Here we are almost 11 years later... Looking back at the beginnings of DCS and looking at it today. Insanely amazing.
Agreed. It’s truly something else
It is definitely amazing both in terms of hard- and software. How powerful GPUs, CPUs etc. have become and how high quality flight gear manufacturers such as VIRPIL, VKB and MFG have emerged.
A guy told me that Elite Dangerous is the most complex armature "sim" out there. And then I LOL'd

Damn it Gnar I don't want to learn this
Lol

Samuel L. Jackson is doing the voice over. ;)

Really like how you highlight the switches. It's very aesthetic. I also like how the narrator also gives some background on the process taking place under the plane's skin as well.
DON'T LISTEN TO THE MAN!! FLIP SWITCHES AND MASH THOSE BUTTONS WITH ALL YOUR FURY!!
CLICK THE BIG RED BUTTON
@HarryHiII This one doesn't install any drivers (which were causing all the problems), they only used that for DVD verification. A-10 didn't even need admin rights to activate.
thank god proper tutorials :D This is what black shark needed so badly, thanks guys.
I am a mechanic on C-5s for the AF. This is surprisingly similar to how we start engines and such. (Power, radios, etc)
The detail on the cockpit.. holy ****

I was a fuel cell repairman on A-10's At England AFB Louisiana back in the mid 1980's so this is very familiar to me.
OMG i just found this today! ive been playing black shark for about 6 days now and love to manualy turn every thing on and all that epicness...NOW I CAN DO IT ON MY #1 PLANE
No you can also use freetrack or if you have a joystick you can map a hat switch for looking around
@angusyoungssg Hey do you use a joystick? We use the little thumb analog on the joystick. If you don't have a joystick then the only method I know is with the number keypads. Its DCS A-10 Warthog by Eagle Dynamics.

"Enough is enough! I have had it with these motherf*****g switches in this motherf*****g A-10!"
FTFY
Thanks for the heads up bro! Gonna buy it in the next few hours!
sorry i got a bit confused after you set the APG to the BRS while confluxing the GG DERP mix with the FPG and XPFRSO functions....but this was all cranial RSI and LOL
thanks for the tutoral tho.
I didn't know this game existed till I saw it today on STEAM. Blown away by the detail. Going to buy it.
still have it?
@@warthy4889 Not only do I still have it, but I have many other modules as well. Including the F-18 and F-16. Love this game.
@@eldridgefelder3427 damn that's crazy
In the sequels to these are you going to have to take cbts before you can even start playing?!
@gnomechomskylives yep you can customize the difficulty from "Game" through to "Simulation" as you see fit, and there is a cheat option for a 1 or 2 button quick start if you dont want to go through the startup yourself :]. awesome game btw, bought it and loving it

Thank-you Mr President. Did you do this with a teleprompter ?
I have the hat switch on my joystick, I might check out this freetrack thing
How many tutorials like this does the simulation have?

how do you move to see the keys that hide behind the trotle handle?
great vid! how do you do the looking around? are you using trackIR?

@commandosolo2009
open beta is already out, its a WIP but you can buy it if you want
ok when does it come out?
Wait this isn't wags!
I have DCS Black Shark because it is one of my favorite helicopters. Maybe I`ll buy the A10 (the virtual one of course ;)) as well.
I wonder if this game comes with checklists...
As much as I heard from another video the US Airforce use this simulator for training rookies. This is apparently an "simplifyed" version. Apparently...
Just noticed hes reading that on the top right .. I was like wow he knows his shit
"Oh this doesn't look to ba-"
He looks down at the switches
"Jesus Christ"
@DaZeBoYy it's going to take you 10 yrs to graduate and then start to fly?
Who’s here in December 2019 after buying it cos of the sexy cockpit update?
J D guilty
I. The best tutorial

you still play dcs ?
@theaveragejoe32
because it's a simulation not COD2?
sounds like a mix of both
Where can I get it? I saw a couple of things on ebay but do I have to build it or what?
How do you look around like that? I only know the numpad keys
Favorite part is at 30 seconds when the A-10 does a fly by, and the view just looks towards it like a cat seeing something shiny...you paying attention there? This is going to get complicated ;-)
@miki767etops Iris A-10? You mean the one for Microsoft Flight Sim? This has nothing to do with MSFS. This is an A-10C simulator by Eagle Dynamics.
It's Digital Download only, but the manual is available via PDF, so it's all good.
how do i turn the lights on the wings on?
wait, what? i dont remember there being radio static..
@calisaetia Pretty much just for show, but scenario designers can induce failures of various components via scripting.
It's currently on sale on steam.
@Daare111 it's a simulator, not a game ;) anyway.. this sim comes with arcade mode, but i think you atleast need a game pad for it.. i haven't tested the arcade mode though, so i cant say for sure
I followed b this top the T and still can't turn the aircraft on... what am I doing wrong?

I have been playing this for a week and still can't remember how to start my engines.

its hard to believe its a game its so real
@MajorBiscuits
is linux really that bad?
wouldn't be suprised if there were any snakes on the plane during the video
that ground crew guy on the right there, I hope for his sake he is payed by the hour if I ever try this game...
Anyone remember "A-10 Cuba!"? We've sure come a long way from that.
Hey do I NEED trackir for this game? (And a Joystick)
Cause I'm low on cash and I'm thinking about spending a tad bit on this game, if I can run it with keyboard and mouse.
does this work on mac
@felitarusinero That is how its done in simulation mode friend.
i am trying to press pause/break to start and i don't know how to do that
give me a hint why i'm unable to set the throttle lever to idle :D nothing works.. no predefined keys, no keys that i have defined, no mouse-clicking.. somebody glued them to OFF -_-
how do u get to the mode where u can switch things?
Because he knows that there is no snakes on this plane. XD
there shoud be help mode while doing missions you can turn on too help you like highlighting the buttons you need too push to get going couse i normal guy like me who whoud like too learn this stuff cant get this bird in too the air by my self :/
Ehm do you have to be a real pilot to understand this game? :P looks fun! i do have a joystick. should i get this?
Love it!
Most of the GNU/Linux distributions have keyboard software embedded, even is as easy to install than in w7
hey, nerdcubed got it started by flipping switches, he just couldn't turn
lol god I wish this was on Mac OS. Just noticed the tail number is 90208. was a flag plane for the 23rd Fighter Wing 74th AMU for a few years. also if I ever took this long to get the engines running I would have been laughed off the spot.

what game is this?
Holy F*CK. im watching up to 2:10 right now and omg this is the coolest S*IT ive ever seen. AWESOME tutorial!!! i need this! "shut up and take my money"
