To those who are still wondering what happened.....as per archimedes principle the volume of solid object is equal to the amount of water displaced. This means that the volume of all those pins should have increased the level of water in the glass that it should have spilled in far less number of pins but this didn't happen because the water surface got curved upward (convex shape) from the rim of the glass due to surface tension between glass rim and water which led to increase in water level beyond the horizontal circular plane of the top of the glass. This extra curved volume was equal to the volume of those 208 pins.
Everything was correct but the main concept was misunderstood. Surface tension is the force within surface of water rather than force b/w glass and water. Latter would be adhesive force if any.
@@muhammadzain7006 You are right bro. Now what I understood is that the adhesive forces between glass and water are stronger than cohesive forces (surface tension) between water and water molecules. This should result in a concave surface at top. So when pins are dropped, the water level rises due to archemedes principle and the glass brim holds the water molecules at the edges due to adhesive forces leading to a convex surface at the top. What are your thoughts.
@@harshal8956 its a combination of both. We can't say which force is greater, it needs a detailed experiment to measure it or maybe people already have calculated the adhesive force between glass and water. A drop has no adhesive force in the air but still takes spherical shape, which is also similar to what we see here, the convex surface. So, just assuming that ashesive force is what makes the convex shape on top of glass to makeup for volume seems incorrect
Wrong, In school, you study when you enjoy it since you do not want to study at that time and you enjoy studying from these teachers because you choose to study at that time or you have an exam. It's totally your fault not the teachers.

Sir per archimedes ke law anusar jitne volume ke object pani me dalenge to utna hi volume pani ka displace hoga Sir pls make us understand between these two concepts 😊😁
Aptly put. I was wondering the same thing, the volume of the pins seems a lot more to me. My intuitions were that it should hve overflown with way less pins. I was so dumbfounded by the otherwise, it challenged the very way I understood fluid. The volume displaced by pins seems greater than the water prevented to overflow by surface tension.
And if we were to melt the pin into one solid ball will the result be the same, hone hi chahiye, but it seems very counterintuitive to me Aur agar paani 5ml Kam hota, toh glass pehle bhr jata pin se par Pani bahar nhi aata Aajeeb lag raha h bhai
@@meghapillai5049 what i get from this video is that the Archimedes principle isn't really followed when very light and thin objects are carefully put in water
No the pin is hollow not full is not full then it takes less space means more pins could be put in the glass and even hundreds of pins could be put in the glass as pin is not made of any material which is heavy but it lets it sink down . That is all I know what it and I am 11 hehe 😅

So the volume of all the pins in water is only as much as the volume of water that's held by surface tension?
