I was 18 when she released this and going though my first break up. I could feel the hurt and heartbreak of the original in her voice. I love that this one sounds more like her reminiscing on a lost love. I see it the same way and will always love this version for that.

the start music is different. her voice is more crisp like she's talking about an old movie. the your before the 'wildest dreams' is different. the HAAH is different. the nothing lasts forever is a bit more dragged out. It sounds more raw now which goes well with the album photo (or whatever its called), she's so much older now and she's reflecting on a memory that happened a while back. Also, this sound of her voice is such a folklorian evermorian voice, i love it so much

@@helena4946 her former management team sold all the masters of her original songs, like her whole first 6 albums, so instead of licensing her own music or having it be licensed and not profiting from it, she re-recorded literally all of it so she basically had her entire discography intact with her having full ownership

In the old version, her voice while singing every lyric feels so distant over the frail heartbeats. There is a hint of fragility, desperation and longing on how she is delivering every meaningful word of this song. While in the latest version, her voice is fuller and more resonant. Her way of singing the song sounds like retelling an old story over her active, fully alive and vibrant heartbeats.

the first one sounded like the scars were still fresh but this new one sounds like the scars have healed but she still remembers the exact spots where they were. doesn’t make it any less magical though, i personally like this one heaps better than the first one.
