Don’t be too hard on yourself a vast majority of people only know A-HA because of take on me so your not alone there. Ive been an A-HA fan for 37 years now and I think it’s great that new people are just discovering A-HA’s music. You’ve got 11 albums of music to choose from they have a huge back catalogue and despite being in their early 60’s now are still going. Stay safe 😘

This is one of those songs you find yourself humming for days after. You have been warned !! LOL
Great song, great reaction! Like you I enjoy the second part of the song the most, but the first part is nice too, building up to the crescendo towards the end. It also has a very creative video, also this directed by Steve Barron. The silhouette of the band and strings. Beautiful scenery of this man who transforms into various animals along the way.
Throughout his upbringing, Pål was taken along to concerts with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, and he brings the strings into the music of a-ha. In the first years it was probably Magne who played them on the keyboard, but eventually they started using real strings. At True North, they had an entire orchestra with them during recording.

The video is perfect for the song. It was directed by Steve Barron who also made the take on me, the sun always shines on tv, train of thought, hunting high and low, cry wolf, manhattan skyline and butterfly butterfly the last hurrah. I recommend here I stand and face the rain, A-HA live. It wasn’t released as a single but it’s a powerful track as is ive been losing you or scoundrel days. Hi, Thankyou for another great reaction to the music of A-HA. The deeper you dive down the A-HA rabbit hole the more you’ll want to hear. Hunting high and low was the 4th single released off their debut album of the same name. A-HA’s guitarist and chief songwriter wrote this and a lot of A-HA songs about his American girlfriend at the time Lauren Savoy now his wife. She was living in Boston while he was living in London at the time. It’s a magical ballad and absolutely amazing live because the audience get to participate and sing the song back to the band they also do that when they sing the living daylights live. Take on me is a great song to hear in a different format especially the mtv unplugged version. It’s like an entirely different song also take on me from the ending on a high note 2010 concert at the Oslo Spektrum as they jam at the end of it. A-HA are always mixing up their sound when they play live. Take care 😘
My standard comment on this song - everything depends on that indelible verse-melody (complete with odd-numbered phrasing) which sounds like it could have been set aside by either Burt Bacharach or Antonio Carlos Jobim.
