@Diszturr you are correct. What was reported was that Putin said he could take Kiev, if he wanted to, in "two weeks", not one week. It was supposedly over a phone call with José Manuel Barroso. BTW Kremlin has not denied this, but said Putin's words were taken out of context.
As far as "proving" things goes, depending on how philosophical you want to get, there is not much that anyone can "prove" about anything. You or I can't even prove that were are not all in a big simulation, let alone what someone might have said over a phone call to someone else. If by proof you mean a *video* of Putin saying it, well, it was a phone call. But just wait. very soon, DeepFake will become so indistinguishable from actual footage that none of us will be able to tell the difference. How are we going to prove the occurrence of any event after that? It could all be CGI and DeefFake, right? If you saw something with your eyes, then recorded a video of it and showed it to me, I can just call B.S. and move along. Good luck proving it to anyone.
You either trust a source that is reporting something or you don't, and you either believe what they say to the best of your knowledge and in the absence of contradicting facts, or you don't. That's as far as anyone can prove/believe anything. Heck, you could be a bot that I'm writing this to. There is no way you can prove you are not a bot 😉

      1. Intelligence Advantage The West simply won't let Ukraine fall. So they gave Ukraine not only supplies, but also intel as well. Intel then shape the tactics and strategies to win the war.
Most important aspect of war is accuracy and effectiveness.
      Is this missile/Information accurate enough?
Is it worth to use/exploit this tool/weakness now?
If Ukraine is given intel, you bet that they also have western advisor there, pointing out flaws and improving the tactics and strategies for the war with accuracy and effectiveness in mind.
      2. Technology Advantage
From reconnaissance to espionage to sabotage. We're in the 2nd Cold War, where battles are non physical.
There's this video on RUclips on an escaped North Korean Soldiers where he said that when he's in the Pentagon, he was shown a satellite images and the troop movement overlayed on it. He was scared that he found out that the US had always been watching the whole time.

I'd say that red dawn is far more complex than the current war. It's beyond vietnam or Afghanistan in complexity.
In red dawn you have a coalition of Cubans and various other central Americans invading an enemy with the direct support and even manpower assistance of the soviet union.
1 ukraine isn't the aggressor here.
2 most of their forces come from the same nation
3 there are no superpower boots on the ground physically lifting rifles and shooting the enemy. We're advisers. Like in Cambodia and Laos.
4 there arent even american piloted aircraft undertaking airstrikes.
The ukraine is just another good ol' proxy war as far as I can define it.
Red dawn was the beginning of world war 3, including the use of airborne, ground-based, and naval nuclear, chemical, and biological weaponry.
Red dawn was a global disaster. The ukraine conflict is a local disaster.

Red Dawn is about a group of teenagers fighting an insurgency in an America that had been successfully occupied by Russia and their allies, whose forces were competent and up-to-fate.
This is the most conventional war that's been fought in probably close to half of a century. Ukraine is a sovereign nation with both regular and irregular military forces, armed with NATO equipment, defending themselves from Russia's poorly planned invasion, with an army that is ill-equipped and unprepared, with largely incompetent leadership. the only similarity to Red Dawn is that there's a Russian invasion, otherwise it's basically nothing at all like the movie.

There are always weaknesses. Just concentrate your forces where the enemy is weak,

I think one clarification is needed. Yes Ukrainians lured ruzzians into Kherson, but they didn't specifically planned Kharkiv offensive, instead based on what we know they likely looked at Melitopol axis, but were generally probing entire front for any weaknesses. Kharkiv offensive happened because that is where they identified weakness. It wasn't "unplanned", however it just wasn't planned specifically before it happened. Ukrainians clearly knew that Kherson is triple lose for ruzzia and massive dilemma, defend and weaken rest of the front, abandon and have massive political fall out or as it happened in ruzzian case both! Ukrainians knew that starting Kherson offensive is either going to be successful on it's own or will present opportunity somewhere else, I don't think they knew where, but they were ready to exploit it generally and Kharkiv front happened to be the place.

2:45 the VDV are not elite forces. And there's no such things as russian airborne forces less elite than the VDV, because ALL of russian airborne forces are the VDV. The VDV literally just translates to airborne forces.

    • @geodkyt

VDV are elite - they get high priority on the best recruits (I believe Strategic Roclet Forces get a higher priority, but that's a matter of not wanting your ICBMs under the control of mediocre troops), high priority on training assets, high priority on equipment, etc.
VDV are elite because you don't waste these assets on crap troops, and you don't entrust the high priority, high risk missions inherent to airborne assaults to crap troops.
Of course, it turns out that even forces that rate as "elite" by Russian forces are still crap units compared to competent armies.

The Ukrainians are being trained by the British.
One thing a Russian general hated the most about being against the British was the fact the British could get places quicker than his men could.
Which we see with the Ukrainians using the same lighting speed attacks to confuse and freak the Russians out.
They aren't in the same place all the time either always on the move, which is probably why the Russians claim a much larger force.
It reminds me of some of the crazy stories of WW1 where a handful of men and even in some cases a single person held of multiple soldiers by moving back and forth and firing to give the illusion of fighting a massive force.
Those poor Russians who are exhausted, scared and have zero morale got scared out of their wits to the point they run off. The ones pushed back into Russia want none of it.
