Really interesting. so how come you hadn't moved these into a full sized hive and instead kept stacking the nuc higher? I'm only just getting into it and going to make a batch of nucs next week so wondering if I should make some extra brood bodies for my nucs.
I used these small boxes to raise a mated queen. Queen do well in small boxes with lots of bees. The colony isn't big enough to move into a full sized hive, so I plan to leave it in this small narrow hive over the winter. Keep in mind that I'm using medium frames, not deeps, and that this setup is not typical. I only know one other beekeeper who does this.
