My instructor was telling me about his 'heavy night' on the beer just before he pretended to be asleep on finals on my flight prior to my first solo. I knew that he didn't drink but I went with it. It went great, my first solo was something I'll never forget and we joked about it later. On another note, I wish I'd had the guy in this video when I did my C182 check ride in Texas. I would have been much more relaxed, like flying with a friend. Where is he from? I'm from the North West of England and our accents are similar?
I can't believe I just heard You say "I want to fly this thing more!" .... A Cessna? :D Love it! Amazing video as always, Lewis. Almost got my first solo today, but I blew it, lol. Better luck on my next lesson!!!
Lewis, just wanted to say I love your videos and content. I’ve recently started my PPL (15 hours), being able to follow your students journeys has been awesome! Keep up the great content you’re a bang up instructor and great creator. Best,
Another cool video, man! Always like the choice of music too... Jazz is the best! Only criticism: change that Palmeiras shirt for a Grêmio one, man! :-) É nóis!
You were in airline? Good choice to come back to teach in flight school, since you were in airline , u widened your eyes, and u will teach better than others who never went to airline. Good for u
Did all my training in a 182q, and it does drop like a rock. Once you figure it out the landings become much easier and smoother. Ours is 260hp and power on stalls turn the plane into a rocket, good times!!
Gotta keep those steep turns steep! Really hoped the ESP would have been a bigger surprise... your students are too good, they read all the POH supplements I guess lol 😂
Thanks man! Simply put, you set the desired RPM and the blades change pitch in order to maintain that RPM. It used engine oil routed to the prop hub in order to increase pitch and then oil is released from the hub to decrease pitch for High RPM.. It's quite simple but difficult to show in a video
If you think the 182 is a heavy bird, you should try the 206, that one really is a heavy bird, heavy on the controls and if you throttle back it falls out of the sky like a brick! I flew the 182 and it flew like a glider compared to the 206. Love all your videos!
I've got a good CFI but I would kill to have one like you. We would do more laughing than flying and it would cost me a fortune but it would be fun lol.
@@LewDixAviation LOL, well if you're ever up in NH let me know. My subscribers seem to like the recent flying content and I know they would love your personality!
I remember my first flight in a C182. Big difference with a constant speed propeller. Needed that high performance rating though! Now for ASES (Sea plane)
Did I just hear you say that you want to fly a high wing Cessna more because it’s cool? Who are you and what have you done to Lew’s body? Lmao!!! Great video!
Why the hell are you using a palmeiras t shirt? ahahhahaa this is a team from my country. Nice videos man, i fly a VLJ in brazil and i've learnt so much in your videos
21:16 - Need to recalculate weight and balance now. CG shifted forward a bit. This will probably change landing speeds. 22:08 - So.... what did I just say? LOL! This must be a CFI thing... Mine ate bananas as well. Flew the C-182 in the CAP - they're really solid.
I'm 6'6'' and find the smallest airplane I fit into comfortably is a 182. What would you say are the downsides or disadvantages of learning to fly in a high-performance airplane like a Cessna 182? I am just assuming since this is a larger, faster, slightly more complex airplane (due to the constant-speed prop) it will be a "little" more complicated and take a little longer to learn in. Other than the higher cost to rent is there any reason NOT to learn in the 182 and just stick with the standard 172 or Cherokee even if I'm cramped and uncomfortable?

Banana for scale.
I like how Lewis just casually starts peeling a banana as they turn final, and is eating it while they touch down.
When hunger strikes!
This should be the visual queue when he is with a Student Pilot that they're ready to go solo he starts eating.
Why big deal
Traffic opposite base...looking... in sight... pulls out a banana - and that's the point I lost it.
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
hahahaha
Carlos is one fine pilot. You taught him well!
Every time a student is ready to solo you gotta start eating a banana in the pattern to show you don’t need to say anything 😂

haha E nois mano!
I love the 182 also! Nicely equipped one too, nice flying. Was flying my family in my ol’ 182 today for a short trip.
Love the Palmeiras kit. Also love your videos man!
Thank you!
Again, a great video. I just finished my PPL here in The Netherlands, but I still learn so much from your video's. Keep them coming!
Always enjoy your videos. Excellent!
Ah that’s great!
Great video on HP training…when you are talking AS, are you always talking in knots or would you clarify knots or mph ?…thx & love the videos.
This was super helpful. I’m transitioning to a 182rg right now from a 172.

Nice video, as always, Lew! What was that song playing on the takeoff roll out of KORL?
Dude I love ❤️ your Jersey!!! I’m a Palmeiras fan. Born in São Paulo Brasil 🇧🇷. Made my day. 🤙

Hahaha they ruin my planned surprises by being good pilots! How dare they!
Great video as usual. And you always with the coolest sunglasses!
Haha thanks man
I love how LewDix casually pulls out a banana
Really enjoyed this video, especially the shots of the Lakes etc... FL is beautiful with lakes dotted everywhere🛫🛬🛫🛬 😎😎
Palmeiras shirt. Hells yeah love it. Brazil represent!
Just waiting for the next "Mike's first solo in a 182!!" video😂 awesome vid Lewis! ❤️
Loved this video. Would love to see a video about how the blue knob affects speed, RPM, how it works, etc...

Just got my complex endorsement in the Arrow! Great airplane!!

I just got my HP endorsement in a C182 today!

I am very glad not to have someone chatting aside of me anymore and fly my 182 for my own. :)
She is flying faster! Nice job on the approach
@LewDix Aviation You missed my like just because this Palmeiras shirt 😂. You need to get a beautiful Santos’s one , green doesn’t look good on you 😂😂😂
Santos??? Shame about that Libertadores for you 🥲 😂😂
High performance floater!!
Got my license on Saturday in a PA28 and learn to fly a 182 tomorrow!
As someone who flies a G500 Archer, that autopilot stuff is crazy and weird and awesome.
Nice video!
That GFC500 is such a workhorse
Speaking of the airline... you ever going back Lew?
Nice Tshirt from Brasil!
NICE !!!
Did I just hear you say that you want to fly a high wing Cessna more because it’s cool? Who are you and what have you done to Lew’s body? Lmao!!! Great video!
I know 😳 I’m going to a therapist
Do you recommend the Rugged Air headset?

Palmeiras T-shirt !!!!! ❤️ my team
Verdão!
Nice.
Lewis ok with a Cessna? Was that banana ripe enough to eat?
You should have 1 million subscibers....
That’s the goal! Thank you!
Just got my high performance in that same plane a few days ago!
Nice! Love this thing
@@LewDixAviation then you'd wet yourself in the 182rg. I'm a very satisfied owner of the '78 for 15 years.
a camisa do palmeiras hahahahaha
I feel like I could have finished my ppl at I had Lewis as my instructor

Palmeiras`s jersey, s2s2 You have Brazilian fans
Great video as per usual 👍🏼. Tesla?!! I’ll be placing my #cybertruck ⚡️⚡️⚡️order for a Father’s Day gift 🎁
Cybertruck!!
When is the video with your mom flying coming out
Few days.. That’s next
Landing is where everyone has trouble in the 182. The heavy nose and high glareshield don't do any favors
I fly a Cessna 182 and that thing is a rocket when it’s only one person on board
1:34
Wait, i didnt know you are brazilian...
Ele não é, mas a namorada dele sim. Palmeirense como podemos ver kkkkkk

Ah sou basicamente Brasileiro vai .. 😂

😮🍌…😂

Eating a ripe banana in an enclosed space should be some sort of violation, surely? 🍌🤢
I don’t get it...

Look at you trying to look cool at 21:55 wondering if he's not flaring enough!! Bet your shitting it!!!!! It's a class plane though.
A Cessna? Really?
O Palmeiras não tem mundial.
Palmeiras não tem mundial!
"high performance"
"cessna 182"
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Someone needs to learn their definitions 🤭
200+ horsepower.
