Thanks for taking us along on another interesting trip. You guys sure did well and looks like you all had a fun trip. That boat of Anthony's is sure slick, reminds me of my buddies boat that uses an ultralight aircraft engine on the back of a large john boat. It gets us up and down the shallow river here real well. Thanks again Jerry and I'll be looking forward to watching your next adventure.
Thanks as always Todd. The Jet Boat is very efficient for running spillways but when he starts up these smaller waters at that speed I prefer the bank LOL. Thanks like always buddy.
Jerry, Thanks so much to your response to my post on one of your latest videos. I love your videos more than anyone elses on youtube. The way you present them is almost studio quality like. Kind of like you were a radio, or television broadcaster. Keep the videos coming. I cant wait for your next adventure.
Thanks so much for the kind words. I guess my stuff is old fashion but I don't like programming where everything is in 2 second clips. Life just don't happen that way.
Floyd, it is loyal supporters like you that inspires me to do what I do. I truly enjoy my supporters and their comments. That's what makes all the work worthwhile. Thanks as always.
Mike, I don't mind the Jet Boat in the big waters like the tail race fishing but I don't want any part of running up small streams and through trees!!! That boat will fly and flying isn't biblical??? God said low I will be with you always, but he didn't say anything about high - - - LOL.
Yes, a lot of current. One of the things we don't talk much about is also how dangerous it can be if you don't know what you are doing and if you don't take proper precautions. It always seems that crappie are always larger in the spillways than in the regular lake. Maybe it is because so much food is washed their way. Thanks again for coming along Wayn.
Troy, tail race fishing can be among the best ways to catch crappie or it can be very difficult depending on the water flow and access to the correct current flow. The jet boat is so helpful because it gives you a way to get where the fish are. Thanks again for your support of FISH4FUN.
The challenge of fishing the tail race below dams is a different kind of fishing. It's not my favorite but it is still fun. Thanks as always for your devoted support.
Thanks for watching FISH4FUN and for taking your time to respond. The lakes are going down and I hope to get into the kind of fishing I like best soon. And, yeah, you can't beat a big fish sandwich and some cold slaw!!!!!
Another great video Jerry!!! Dang - how many boats does that boy own??? That is a different platform - but looks efficient - I guess that is why he is a guide. Thanks for taking us along - and I will be in touch so you can take me along and teach me a thing or two about fishing.
Anthony is a nationally known guide that doesn't hesitate to spend money to make money. Most of the people he guides are wealthy people, many of which are for foreign countries. He gives them unique experiences like the boats that they have never seen before. The water is coming down and hopefully I will be able to find some fish soon. Remember, I don't claim to be good, I just claim to have fun every time I go out, FISH4FUN!!!! Thanks again buddy.
Hi Jerry, very nicely done video. I especially liked the information you included about the type of lake, area and thermo Cline. I've got a question for you Jerryy i thought perhaps you could answer. I fished the Pomme De Terre river from about a mile north of Barrett lake to about a mile south of Barrett. I had some success throughout the summer. However, as late fall and winter set in i haven't caught, seen or even heard of any fish in the river. They simply disappeared. Where do you suppose all denizens of the river go to in winter? Or is it possible they are still there just not feeding the same was they would in warmer weather? Any ideas or advice? Thank you....
John, I catch fish year round in Pomme River and upper Pomme Lake. They are still there and they will bite. I have a couple of videos in 2019 where we catch them in the very upper reaches of Pomme lake in 41 degree water temperatures. When the water gets below 50 degrees you will find them in the deepest water in the pools and eddies. If there is lots of deep water they will still bite but they will be scattered and hard to find. I fish areas that have one place that is significantly deeper than any other water is the pool. They are harder to find because the maps aren't available for the upper lake areas and river. You also have to fish slow and deliberate and there will be frequent periods no strikes but I love fishing the winter bite. Thanks for a great comment.
Pomme is a beautiful 7,800 acre lake. It is especially good for trolling because they cut most of the trees out before they flooded the lake. That water we were fishing would be easy to make your videos since it is a mishap waiting to happen LOL. Love your channel, thanks for your support.
We don't try to teach that much because we're not that good LOL. The main thing you need to learn is how much fun fishing is and how it can become a healthy life-long activity. I'm am always pleased when I get comments from the younger viewers because I know they have their lives in pretty shape if they love the outdoors. Thanks for your support.
Jerry, I watched the video and could only find one gripe about it. Towards the very end, I noticed an open can of Coors beer. That should have been dumped overboard to stun the fish so they could be scooped off the surface with a net. and been replaced with a nice cold bottle of Budweiser.
I am a little different. I don't allow alcoholic beverages at all in my boat. I like a cool one too but in my den or at the gold course. That is especially true when you are setting in water that can swamp a boat in seconds. Thanks again for your comments and support of my channel.
Thanks to you for always coming along!!! When you spend as much time as I do making videos there isn't much time left for eating LOL. Thanks again Timothy.
Jerry, that was the most unique video I've seen this year and the footage of running up and fishing in the flooded tail race of Pomme was something else. I love that jet boat and have never seen one like it; it is a Lund perhaps? It was really an amazing craft with the huge live well right in the middle. Did the metal deck have some sort of non-skid surface? 2019 will definitely go into our memory banks as a flood year; here we are in August and the Pomme de Terre river must still be flooding all the way up to Truman Lake. Crazy year! Best wishes, Don
Don, I have never seen anything like it. The spillways have been running for 4 months and the lakes still aren't low enough for them to put the launch ramps back in. It has really killed the type of fishing that I like best on the lakes and that is multi-rigging for multi-species trolling. The Jet boat was a custom built boat made especially for running up and down tail race water. To tell the truth it scares me. It's OK to fish out of but I'm not into running through water and trees at high speed. The deck doesn't have a non-skid surface and there is nothing to hang on too and no place to store tackle and valuables. We'll get her done soon though I was finally able to do some trolling with poor results three days ago at Stockton Lake. Thanks again Don.
Chad, this is a custom built jet boat that Anthony had built. I don't know who he had make it but I admit I don't want one. It has no seats or storage space and no side rail to keep tackle secure or for that matter keep people safe. He mainly uses it run up and down rivers. Thanks watching and taking time to respond.
You guys in Tennessee have even better tail race fishing than we do in Missouri. It can be the most rewarding and the most frustrating way to fish all at the same time. Thanks again for your long and consistent support of my videos.
Getting the correct boat or bank position relative to the current flow is what tail race fishing is all about. They will almost always bite if you can get the the lure down where they are. Thanks again buddy. Bang!!!!!
Marcus, thanks for the info. It is always special when I here from local viewers. Maybe we can do breakfast at Brenda's!!! Hit me at jrouth@iland.net and I will give you contact information.
I agree with that but some things are beyond my control LOL. And, one of the things we don't talk about enough is how dangerous it can be. When you live on the water like my nephew it becomes so routine you don't even thank about it. Thanks for your thoughtful comments.
your welcome Jerry. don't get me wrong, I am not opposed to anyone having a cold one, just as long as its off the water. I fish Pomme all the time, mostly by myself, safety has to come first (life jackets) lol

That was pretty neat Jerry. I really like that boat. Looks like its easy to fish from. Nice bunch of crappie.

A nice birds eye view. Nice video.
Nice crappie. A lot of current there.
Yes, a lot of current. One of the things we don't talk much about is also how dangerous it can be if you don't know what you are doing and if you don't take proper precautions. Very nice description of what where why and how. Thanks for another great video, keep them coming!

Thanks for the video and info. I'm at outlet Park camping right now and this is just what I needed to help get a few bites
The thermocline should be a non-factor now that the lake has turned back over. Go get-em' and thanks for watching FISH4FUN/
Wow, that water was sure rollin'. But you fellas showed the crappie who's boss!
Enjoyed tagging along. Can't wait for the next adventure!

@@jerryrouth6115 Always!
Jerry another great video. Again, just like I was right there with you. Nothing like catching some good eating crappie. They taste so good.

Thanks for coming along John. The waters are coming down and hopefully I can soon get back to the kind of fishing I prefer.

Looks like a fun trip, I've never fished pomme de terre. That's some swift water tho!!
