We can comfortably say it with no fear of contradiction that Jimmi is the father of modern day Pop music,,

Andrew Crawford was instrumental in founding Benga music in Kenya. He picked musicians from East Africa including Congo and mixed musical flavours and created the sounds we hear sounding like them mushrooms etc. He produced songs for the Bata shoeshine boys who were huge back in the day. They did the vitimbi theme song. My uncle was their drummer. They performed across Africa and on their last tour performed for Haile Selassie and proceeded to the Netherlands and became the current Ashanti band. Such a story!

Literally glued watching this Icon Jimmi on CTA. This song needs to be digitally remastered and done again for this generation to understand just who Jimmi Gathu is. Like seriously Jimmi. Redo this, like how MJ' s We are the World was redone for Haiti. I'd love to what can be done with this master piece. Classic and timeless

This Matatu song reminds me of Yvonne Chakacha's early songs. Production ilikuwa ya majuu and they sounded like Americans

I watched this video for the first time 2 yrs ago and it happens that I was in a creative process of writting this song ruclips.net/video/dVVsdBgeOzA/видео.htmlsi=qI1ZAaiKiYbRsTpR and I think I was researching alot on the NEW JACK SWING genre coz thats what I was aiming for as a sound to my song and STAY ALIVE was prompted by the algorithm I guess and it now gave me the affirmation that I have all it takes to approach this genre coz I've seen my hero Jimmi do it so....am greatful that Jimmi is always doing what he has to do and inspire us to just do it!
Also, not Jimmi pulling a Bobby Brown😂😂 in that outfit...I bet that was his great inspiration...also, the music itself is heavily influenced by 'BACK TO REALITY' BY SOUL II SOUL.
