Simply amazing! I've worked with my hands my entire life and still do today. I thought that I had a tool for everything until watching this video. I'd love to build a knife (Loveless design) but I'd have to go a more primitive route. Subbed!
Wow. That's a beautiful blade. Thank you for making these videos. Yours is one of the main channels that helped me when i started my blade smithing journey.
Another reason I like Fridays. Just built my first knife, well I'm up to the heat treat. Gotta save some to buy some parks 50. Lookin forward to next Fridays vid. Thanks.
I was briefly enamored with knifemaking as a teen after First Blood came out. My first attempt at making a bowie was more like an Ax, since it was made of plate steel 4 inches wide, 1/4 thinck., lol My 2nd attempt was a little better, somehow in 1985ish i managed to get some stainless steel and at least this time i made nicer wooden stained handles. But hey the only tools i had was a 5 -7 inch grinder and hand files laying around farm shop..
I've always seen my YT knife making teachers explain that having sharp corners in the ricasso-tang transition creates unpleasant stress risers... And I'm pretty sure that you were one of those teachers.
Finally a good looking Bowie, without all the curves and fake saw blade looking cuts on the back of the blade, drilly holes of different sizes, loopy cross guards and all that other foofraw shit.......

Thanks for sharing this beautiful build. Definitely gave me a few things to think about.
Always like watching you do your builds. Keepem comin!!!
One of the cleanest grinds I’ve ever seen . I’d prefer a guard on the obverse and stacked leather however truly lovely work sir

Kind of a strange knife but different and very nice!

Big-o-honkin: construction term meaning unique and large. God bless the Graduates of Po-Dunk University!
Beautiful blade but it looks more like a chef's knife than a Bowie.
I was a professional chef for a long time, never seen a chef knife that looked anywhere close to that lol
Nah it looks like the original Bowies. They were based on a Mediterranean dirk

Curious if you put little radius on the 2 shoulders you filed before heat treat?
I love everyone critiquing, and saying how they could do it and probably better if they wanted to or had the tools 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
Sure i can make this happen with a tom of tools
